FFH seems to have garnered plenty of interest of late, including from me. However, there is plenty to get used to, so a more introductory SG might be in order. I'm thinking not a game aimed at total newcomers, but people who have tried the mod, and are interested in improving their game by discussing and planning with others.

I think we should use Tholal's More Naval AI modmod.strategizing

Proposed settings:

Map Script: Erebus Continents
World Size: Standard OR Large
Game Speed: Normal
Living World: On
Raging Barbarians: On
Wildlands: On
Turn length: 30/20/15/15/10

I think Capria of the Bannor can be a good choice. Spiritual will give us plenty of opportunity to explore various civics and religions and makes it easier to recover from mistakes there. No other special strengths make us dependant on good gameplay.

Lurker: Just a warning about the Bannor: Be very, VERY careful should you even THINK about using the Crusade civic. You can get caught in a continuous war dec situation that could do nasty things to your economy.

Also, you are right. The Bannor is probably the most boring race in the game, so it is pretty good for a learning game.

There was a MUCH more entertaining example of this in story form a while back, but I can't find it now. I specifically remember Sabathiel bursting out of the royal treasury, disheveled and with a lingering hint of madness in his eyes, to finally propose some radical solution to the seemingly endless cycle of economy-driven war they'd got themselves into. Awesome bit of writing which illustrates what AJ11 was talking about. I hope somebody can find it and link it here. Totally worth the read.

It was later in the thread, in part 2 or 3 of the writeup.
