Hey guys, SamSniped here. I had an idea a couple days ago to start doing Alternate History stories, focused on changing one event in history and seeing how it turns out. I am going to have it be a mix of Narrative and Comedy, and I will be using Special Forces v1.2(when I get around to adding some stuff, including Cleopatra (SPI, CHA)).
So here's the first story I'm doing on those premises-
What if Cleopatra won against the Romans?

Spoiler :
Before the Prologue-
In 31 BCE, Cleopatra and Mark Antony lost to the Romans at Actium. Instead of letting herself be taken prisoner, Cleopatra took her own life, supposedly by having an asp bite her.
Or did she?
It is 41 BCE now, and war is about to break out between Rome and Egypt. Cleopatra, the self-proclaimed goddess Isis, will win this time. But then what?

Ultimate goals-
1. Win against Rome at Actium
2. Conquer the Romans.
3. ?

What do you guys think the third goal should be?
Note- Be expexted to wait a couple weeks while I get the scenario, Leader, and the rest of that mod set up :D

Ignore that little spoilered bit and the following spam/planning, jump to the story! :D
Prologue/Chapter 1: The Village Idiots

Ultimate goals-
1. Win against and conquer the Romans
2. Form the Roman Empire as the Egyptians
3. WORLD DOMINATION!!!! :mwaha:
Ahem. Sorry. :p

Late subscription :D

Here's the kicker:

Cleo was bedding Marc Antony, but she had borne Caesar's Heir and even named him Caesarion. Probably wasn't really his, since Julius only had daughters that we're aware of, and if there had been bastard sons, they would have surfaced, and they didnt.

SO: If Marc Antony wins at Action, there should be a script where Caesar's Legions vote to split based on increasing percentage points with each victory. Octavian would have to buy units as in Broken Star and would have to be able to pay them. Each victory a side has would create a RNG point where the other team's Legions would have a chance to switch sides. (Witness the Year of Four Emperors)

AND if Marc Antony (Great General?) does take Rome? HE would be Dictator for Life, Cleo would be Queen of Egypt, Consort of Rome, and Caesarion heir to both kingdoms.

The Roman Republic would not become the Roman Empire. More as I think about it

Mr. SamSnipe
As I am quite smitten with practically everything that Roman Republic had to offer to history and civilizations in general, yours story shall be much appreciated. And with trepidation too...
But to answer your original question ("What do you guys think the third goal should be?"):
Having in mind Mr. username804's immediate conclusion, you should pay your attention to other mediterranean, north-european and mid-eastern powers of time, that one way or the other owed their allegiance to the mighty republic.
In that regard, Dacia, Germania, Sarmatia and , of course, Parthia should be given closer inspection.
On a more practical note, consider Germans and Persians as "must have" factors vying for power.
Who could substitute Dacians and Parthians in your intended story? Perhaps Arabia as Parthians, eh?

That is an awesome idea, except I am pretty sure that involves higher level scripting, and what I do is XML and a tiny bit of Python. Although I will remember this idea for some point in time.

If Marc Antony was a great general, I could have him killed off :mwaha:

First, welcome to the forums!
Second, if I wasn't using a Mac, I could probably download this, which already has many of those needed civs :)
If you want, you could download it, set it up, copy all of the civs you think I should have into a folder, compress it into .zip format, and paste it here.

I found the Sarmatians (well, technically the Bosporus civ) elsewhere, so they will be in and of course, the file is an .rar, which means I need someone else to unzip it for me.

Another location that I found Parthia? ANOTHER .RAR! [pissed]

Well, I will try to get the Parthian, Dacian, and maybe even Sarmatian civs throughout the week. Hopefully I will have all the civs by Friday and get this thing started after a few days worth of modding :D

EDIT: Would Constantine the Great work for Illyria? He's not exactly of the right time period, but he would work I guess.

A few practical notes:
- considering your dilemma with The Ancient Mediterranean Mod
I have not yet read the official policy of this Great Forum towards live links, but I think I can safely risk it; after all I think that is obvious I'm trying to promote a solution, not people or products. That being said the link is http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-ancient-mediterranean/downloads/civ4-bts-the-ancient-mediterranean-v090. It is .exe file , a self-extracting archive in this case, so I presume that solves your .rar problem with TAM
- considering rar file extension and Mac in general
I believe this can solve your little problem http://www.unrarx.com/; or google something else, since it it obvious this type of software exists
- considering the Illiryans
At that particular time, they were firmly under the jackboot of SPQR, paying heavily in people, stock and precious metals their quasi-independence, their countryside dotted with Roman military fortresses and such. They had quite a few places of note; few fortified cities and great tombs are very well known in this region today (Balkans). I believe them to be rather infamous for their piracy plaguing the Roman trade routes in Adriatic Sea; it is not unheard of whole coastal towns being pirate lairs. Military consisted of mixed units of archers, spearmen (some with heavy armor but, interestingly bear footed) and rarely light cavalry (nobles mostly).
Does "Constantine The Great's Byzantine" fits this profile with units and buildings?
I honestly don't know since I haven't had the inclination to play Civ 4 with that civilization.

Sorry for this tirade; can't wait for the first "publication" to appear!

Thanks for finding that; I've been having trouble finding one.

I don't mind tirades :p. Well, I already downloaded Constantine, so I will just use him for the Byzantines. i will not use the Illyrians, and now becasue of you showing me that link there will be a few more civs. Thanks!

The Germans had no unified government or idea of "nation" think ancient greek city states

perhaps individual German "units" can be bought as mercs. Atila and Aetius hadn't happened yet.
