the "bet two bottles of whiskey" thread

What odds can I get on this proposition: Obama wins but Republicans control the house AND senate?

House is easy, but Senate is tougher to say.

It's quite possible that it'll be a 50-50 tie after November, which of course means the VP breaks the tie. Thus, it depends on who controls the White House.

I'd say the odds are fairly low that the GOP loses the Presidential election but gains the four seats needed to take the Senate.

The odds are, the GOP gets 3 Senate seats this round.

Maybe two to one in favor of this not occurring.

I actually just might prefer this to a Romney victory. Obama wins but can't do anything useful and we get a new President in four years? There are things to like about this, and possibly it would be better than being stuck with Romney or worse for 8.

Then again, that would depend whether we actually can get someone better in 2016 or not.

Eh, I don't think Dr. Paul will be too old in 2016:p (I'd elect the 80-year old guy;))

(What kind of odds can I get on that happening? I'd imagine at least thirty to one.)

(Although I won't really bet..)

Oh, and is this a real thread? How will you enforce payment if you win?

50-50 or 51-49 would be pretty likely; I think both sides have 45 or 46 seats either safe or not up for election. If the tossups get split pretty evenly, this is what we'll expect.

I am just saying it affects the odds. I am a conservative. We do the math.

Wait, were you serious? Let me laugh even harder. :lmao:

To quote Jerry Seinfeld "I'm sure we're comfortable working within the confines of the honor system"

Besides, would many people here trade their good name for a bottle of whiskey?
Would "everyone" be considered "many"?

This thread needs a deal to be struck to give it some traction and something to follow. Any takers on my 2 bottles to 1 offer and I take the GOP?

So if Obama wins, you give me 1 bottle, and if Romney wins, I give you 2 (working on 700mL bottles, with forms of payment flexible and negotiable)? You're on.

The problem identified by MisterCooper should not be an issue, so long as you buy the stuff in Sydney, rather than Indonesia. ;)

And it's on :goodjob:However I believe the loser does need to go to the trouble of purchasing, gift wrapping and posting the goods (cash would be lame). Winner names his poison, doesn't need to be expensive and immediate cash flow can determine payment time. Sweet?

Sounds good. I would say don't count on speedy delivery (though I'm good for it), but I don't think I'm going to lose, so shouldn't be a problem. :p

Ima rallying Cooper, Ghostwriter, VR, Mobboss et al to the polling booth and we're gonna take Mittens all the way to the White House. (which is a shame really cause ordinarily I'd want Obama to win, just not as much as I like free booze).

Of course you say that since you're in Australia and so don't care anyway:p

That said, I'm too young to vote. Still 17;)

Of course, that means I can't buy whiskey either:)

If I could though, what odds would you give me if I said Ron Paul was going to become President in 2016?

Then why do you commence the deregulation which help cause the ecomonic crisis?

Well I am please you using a science that was well developed in Arabia, demonstrating cultural enlightment.:mischief:

I bet that a fanatic will realise that their fanatical idealogical leaded illogical ways are only leading to self-destruction.

I also bet Hillary Clinton may one day seek the role of President. As a Brit I will be glade to see a US President with grand foreigh affairs skills. Romney has proven when visiting London and Israel to... be ill-equiped in diplomatic affairs.

No money, but I'll do something involving avatars and signatures for the bet that Obama will win by at least 8%.
