Current Global Alliances:
The Dual Monarchy
Members: United Scandinavian Empire and Germany
Founding: 1892 - After a brief succession crisis
Mandate: A Personal Union with Economic and Domestic autonomy but with a unified diplomatic stance.
The Treaty of Amsterdam
Signatories: France and the Netherlands
Founding: 1865 - At the Amsterdam Franco-Dutch Peace conference. The Alliance was founded in response to the unification of Germany, its control of Austria-Hungary and its alliance with Scandinavia. The conference was attended by Napoleon III who signed the treaty as well as Dutch government officials.
Mandate: A Military and Mutual Defense Alliance. The Treaty was put through its trial by fire during the Great War where it faced off against the Dual Monarchy. The treaty has no official clauses regarding trade or domestic issues - it is purely a military agreement.
The Taipei Pact for East Asian Prosperity
Signatories: Japan and Port Hadley
Founding: 1916 - Signed at the Taipei Conference of 1916. It was the first official treaty to be signed by Sarah Hadley - Marie-Charlotte Hadley had been strongly against the alliance because of Japanese Imperialism in the Philippines and had blocked their attempts to restore order through the use of force when it fell into revolt and later to Canton.
Mandate:
Peace, Prosperity and Stability reads the subheading to the document. The basic idea was a treaty to ensure development of the two signatory nations economically, industrially and politically. The pact also included many clauses about maintaining peace in East Asia and the expansion of a sphere of co-prosperity throughout the region to ensure the well being of the peoples of East Asia. The pact has yet to use military force to maintain prosperity but there are clauses in the Pact that allow for the use of force.
The Eastern Oceans Trading Sphere Conference
Signatories: Japan, Portugal, Port Hadley
Founding: 1924 at the Port Hadley 1924 Regional Trade Conference.
Mandate: The agreement was one by which Japan and Portugal, through Port Hadley, extended an alliance to one another. The mandate was mainly one of trading, the correct tariffs (Port Hadley was always big on tariffs...) and laying down laws regarding illegal goods and trading regulation. There were also some subtle and couldbeinterpretedanysortofway clauses between Japan and Portugal regarding the expansion of Portuguese trading interests into East Asia.
