Surely you do not count Brazil among them, seeing how they condemned Portugal for invading Jamaica, a small peaceful nation, without first declaring war, then did just that themselves a few years later, violating the tenets of PADA that they themselves drafted!

The fact is the proposed British conference is pointless. There is no law saying that Europe must trade with Brazil. In fact, many nations (such as Rome, Italy and ourselves) have not traded with Brazil for years, to no ill effect; the meager goods they provided are available from other Europeans who are closer and charge less. The point being, no one can force Europe to trade with any nation, a point that we are just now coming to realize.

As for the accusations that Russia is destabilizing the colonies of the United Kingdom, we wish to see your proof. The incident with Russian merchants supplying arms to Madagascar was unfortunate, but like the United Kingdom, we cannot be held responsible for the actions of all our citizens. Yet, the African rebels have access to designs exclusive to the Brazilian government, are armed with Brazilian weapons and since you say you sent no soldiers, we see no reason to return to you the several dozen Brazilians we found aiding the rebels, as they must also be rogue malcontents and not paid government and military agents as they claimed.

We find it highly suspect that Russian businessmen would possess the equipment we've found in our colonies, given the closed nature of Russian society. Not even Britain allows businessmen to possess naval mines.

The British foreign policy personnel follow a different foreign policy doctrine than Brazil, and therefore do not see completely eye-to-eye with Brazil, which was once the case. If our summit fails, then so be it, but at least a constructive dialogue can begin.

The African "rebels" are free and independent states, even according to their former overlords. Seeing as that is the case, Europe has lost and this boycott has no clearly defined aims other than to punish Brazil for an indefinite period of time for being vocally on the side of liberation.

In fact, it is such an embarrassment to world progress that I fear an emotional backlash against European nationals and businesses across the world. Mass incidents have come from less.

With this being said, the Tanyeken government, being in its infancy, can not guarantee the safety of every foreign national. Let it be known right now however that we are opposed to this boycott due to its gross unfairness towards Brazil, oppressed peoples, and the foreign nationals of the boycotting nations.

@Immaculate: I'll be handling the questions you've had in the order they were asked. In terms of adopting another nation's doctrine, it can be worth it if they have higher Army Quality than you, but the best advice I can give on doctrine, is to figure out whether or not the doctrine available meets your planned military needs. Elections will happen whether or not you order them. If you'd like to list out the parties and their platforms, that certainly makes my job easier (a shoutout to Lord Iggy's awesome orders for his election years here), and makes updating more fun for me. It's not required though. At the moment the approved ideologies for various parties are (within context of modern OTL terms were applicable, for ease of use): Traditional Proletarist, Social Proletarist, Liberal, Moderate, Conservative, Militarist, Religious, and Nationalist/Separatist. If you were referring to having multiple parties with the "liberal" ideology, I'd prefer if you just listed the largest one. Coalitions are mentioned for many nations and the largest party of the coalition is the one that will be listed in stats. The type of government you mention would qualify as a Parliamentary Republic at the current moment, though I suppose we could find a different name for it if you'd like.

@crezth and anyone else concerned: At this time, I'm still not accepting players for non-government entities.

@TerrisH: Yes, that is a problem I've had with the current system, manpower numbers under 100 are all treated equally, leading you having to pay the same amounts as say, Hawaii. Until such point where I decide to kill myself by introducing decimals, like this it will stay.

OOC: Brazil is that important. We are the largest economy in the Americas. We provide the largest sources of rubber, coffee, sugar, aviation, and some of the largest exports in electronics, automobiles, industrial parts and goods, etc. This is essentially embargoing one of the top economies of the world during peace time, rather than war time: as the majority of Brazil's embargoes have been.

It is basically like having the Peoples Republic of China embargo the United States because the United States has friends in Asia. It does nothing but cause worldwide economic downturn. Anyone with a basic understanding of economics can see that this move will hurt everyone, not just Brazil. So, as Colombia has said, these powers should rather declare war on Brazil.

They know they can't touch Brazil that way, so they instead wish to harm the entire planet, including their own people.

First, we had renewed relations and lowered tariff deals in place in recent history during the Arabian War, or has your Emperor forgotten those? Secondly, it cannot be that the Russian government views Proletarist Usurpers as Legitimate Governments? That would most certainly be a shift in political ideology that a great number of underground movements in Russia and Asia would love to see confirmed. Thirdly, Brazil cannot break the tenets of PADA, as Brazil helped design them, so we knew best how to carry those out and many nations in PADA have stated their own acceptance of what we did and would have aided us in such.

Europe does not have to trade with Brazil, no, but they do have to trade with someone and that someone trades with Brazil. Prices rise internationally on the basic commodities that Brazil provides industrializing nations, hurting you all. The Russian government lives in a make-believe sphere of Absolutism, currently prancing about like the 18th century is still upon us. Modern governments have no time for such silliness. The Kongo has fallen to the Free Peoples of Africa, with our aid. We do not hide the fact that we have done as such. We do not need to lie about our involvement as you have about yours. We have sold designs to nations, yes. We have provided loans, yes. We have sent engineers and training personnel, yes. But we have not sent combat personnel, ever. Nor shall we, unless attacked by your backwards, tyrannical alliance.

Brazil is more than open to this political summit, but we know nothing will come of it. Germany has a double standard on nationalism. Russia has a double standard on rebellion. Britain will have to come to the realization that it is working with a number of tyrants that want to see her destroyed. Brazil, on the other hand, will remain peaceful to all democracies that put an effort to be peaceful to her. Destroying European balance and committing genocide against freedom fighters is no way to become friends of ours.

Ole Gudrunsson remains the proud leader of the Socialproletärpartiet (SPP), and is running for a third consecutive term. Should he do so, he will exceed former Statsminister Goran Pilqvist’s time in office (1867-1879) and match the record of Axel Gyllenstjerna (1883-1887 and 1891-1903).

Coming into the 1927 election, Gudrunsson runs a ‘steady course’ campaign, promising to continue improving the social services that have been established throughout Vinland, bringing a continued rise in the standard of living.



Fredrik Gustavski has led the Konservativ Industripartiet since the retirement of longtime Kon-Ind frontman Anders Kristiansen. Rejuvenating the party with his fiery rhetoric, Gustavski has been a firm critic of Gudrunsson’s SPP. His party opposed the Vinlandic invasion of Aisuyochi, and maintains that the war was just an example of Gudrunsson’s Social Proletarists being used as a pawn by Brazil and France-Burgundy.

In the electoral campaign, Gustavski focuses on a mixture of foreign and domestic policy. In foreign matters, he promises to make use of PADA only as a discussion platform, and as an alliance for the defense of its constituent states. No bloody interventionism will take place if the Kon-Inds are elected. Domestically, Gustavski has blasted the SPP for several years of missed opportunities and economic stagnation. The KIP has detailed a system of tax incentives and spending cuts (mostly to social insurance established by Gudrunsson’s government), with the intention of encouraging greater amounts of industrial development, and resource extraction throughout the nation.



After several years of infighting for control of the party, Rudolf Bloch has re-established himself as the leader of the humbled, but still prominent Socialdemokratiskapartiet (SDP). Charting a course between Social Proletarist and Conservative Industrialist ‘radicals’, the SDP seeks to appeal to the middle ground that lies between the two currently-dominant parties of the Vinlandic Riksdag.

Social Democrats support a trimming of the budget, focusing on pragmatic economic development, advancing alongside with a rising quality of life. In terms of foreign policy, little distinguishes them from the SPP.



The Ordningspartiet, the pesky Scandinavian Restorationist Gnat in the Riksdag, remains a force to be reckoned with, although it has fallen far since the glory days before its collapse in 1910. Lars Solberg, as before, leads this party.

Domestically, the Ordnings resemble a centre-right position between the SDP and KIP, although their foreign policy calls for open denunciation of the illegitimate Workers Commonwealth, and active support for the restoration of the Scandinavian Monarchy. The party’s fortunes, as of late, have fluctuated with those of the Kongo, and as such the Ordnings are in a terribly poor position going into this election.



New to the ballots this year is the Jordbrukarespartiet (Farmers Party), led by Bernhard Tolversson, a noted poet, farmer and public school teacher from the Västermark. The party’s draws its support from the same moderate base that has previously formed the core of the Ordnings, and the centrist wing of the Social Democrats.

With strong support in rural areas of the country, Jordbruks seek to lower trade barriers around Vinland, increasing the nation’s position as an exporter of agricultural produce and raw resources. However, unlike their Ordning precursors, they have decisively dropped support for Scandinavian restoration from their agenda.
