Miniupdate 18.1
Agreements Signed by Ink and Blood
1) Utica and Novaricum Sign Peace with the Pact of Narran!
Both city states gave up crucial aspects of their war aims to the Pact. Novaricum gave up her recent Koislyun Sea gains and Utica had to surrender Woet. They also paid a large fine to the victors. (10EP each IIRC) However, both states continue to dominate on the mercantile front, as the Leagues shattered merchant and military fleets are no match for the competition. Although some discontent did form, with comparably small losses and saved from what many anticipate being an annihilation (of trade routes, not of themselves), most support this, and considered it the end of but another, if slightly larger, of the merchant wars which plagued the Central Seas since the Pirates of the Aegean have been destroyed.
(Utica and Novaricum -1 Domestic -10 Payment Each. Katan+2 Domestic. Hyak +1 Domestic)
2) The Musuriim Compact Sets Pact War Aims!
The Musuriim Compact was signed among the major powers of the Pact of Narran, as well as former Egyptian foes of Kush and Axum. Egypt continues to stand defiant against their growing foes, even though the loss of the delta means that their income will continue to decline. With the only other choice from resistance utter vassalage, the government stands strong, with the utter confidence of the people; most of whom know little of the news from the front.
3) Shah Gura defeated by Shah Kazu, The Sugudan Shahara spreads across Samara!
Kazus forces had high morale after a parade in Quan, where the nomads were greeted surprisingly well by the settlers there. Facing his rival Gura in battle and supported by a Sugudan chariot force, he routed Guras chariot fleet and personally threw his Javelin into his nemesis sternum. The coaliton Gura tried to build with his rabble rousing collapsed, and several lesser Shahs and chiefs, including splinters of Guras own Shahara, joined Kazu. (Kazu +1 Chariot +1 Loot; Suguda +1 Domestic)
4) Kadiz Capitulates! Leon and Co Sign Treaty of Barica.
THE TREATY OF BARCIA
I. As per the discussions which were held, Kadiz will cede the majority of its land to Lamari, Roba, and Leon, while retaining its capital and a small amount of the outlying area.
II. Kadiz will become a complete vassal of the Kingdom Of Leon.
III. Kadiz will pay 1 EP/turn as tribute to Leon.
Signed,
King Emilio de Caillaro I, Kingdom of Leon
King Francisco Nicodemo Flores II of Lamari, Vassal of Leon
King Edmundo Roque Basurto of Roba
Lord Ruperto Joaquín Gallo of Kadiz, Vassal of Leon
Even though Kadiz lost much, they quickly capitalized on the end of the war to reestablish merchant contracts- which to the surviving merchants (the nobles having been slaughtered during the war) is much more important than any other concern. (Kadiz-1 Domestic +1 Trade). However, major discontent eventually led the King to abdicate, and his son to declare a Republic, which is quickly controlled by the merchants.
Lamari gained a Lions share of the land, which they hold with some difficulty. (+2 Domestic)
Robas land was little, but they gave little as well. With the owners mostly dead, land sales gave the treasury a nice, fresh layer of gold. (+1 Loot)
Leon gained the lands of Gibraltar and beyond, and quickly took advantage of the trade routes that flourished as the fighting ends. (+1 Loot +1 Trade) However, land so far from their homeland is considerably harder to control than Vascony or even Neuva Vallaria. In Africa, a major chief assembled an army to retake the coastal Oasii and burn the town of the foreigners to the ground.
