TerraNES: The Civil Experiment

To Pisac and Ollantaytambo
From Runapihatunpunaqhishwa
Fellow Runa! Let us band together! The people of Yucay are now free, let us unite so that we may remain so. We face threats from every direction - the Aymara, the Llaqta, and the hungry eye of the Chavin all linger on Yucay!
Brothers of the Runa, under Apu we must unite! Let Yucay grow strong and golden!
In exchange for control of your city states, we offer you complete membership in what will be the new Union of Yucay! Let the valley be united and golden once more!

From Vahlshallah
To Beurtgang;

If Brygantia needs support from the Faithful nations, we will support in this endeavor.

From the Union of Brygantia
Even though I myself am a Druid, I intend to keep to the treaty which enshrined our organization. With over 95% of the organization composed of Druids, it is very hard to keep the Union true to it's starting principles, although I try my best. I have spoke with the Daughters of the Trinity, and I am allowing additional Faithful funding and volunteers to match any that Armorica has had given to us before.

From Vahlshallah
To the Iron Lancer Prophet Othar:

Duly noted and shelved for future reference. Anything else?

Please don't kill me.

From the Impenetrable Fortress of Pisac

Why should we hand over the control of this esteemed military installation to you civilians? We can fight off any foes who try to enter into Yucay, and we can get rid of anyone within Yucay who is too pushy for our tastes. Pray that you do not fall intot his second category.

For your grievous insult, we demand 1EP to help us defend the passes to the Aymara.

From Ollantaytambo

We agree, although we also feel a full union is a bit much. We are willing to sign agreements which will help us organize a defense against the outsiders as well as clean the valley of any remnants and riffraff.

To: Llaqtapiyunkaorq'o Republic
From: Yunkasipascha

As you are most likely aware, the trade routes that have benefited both our people for so long are under threat from increasingly large populations of bandits. We have begun to take action against the bandits but our patrols would have to take our warriors close to if not right at your borders in order to be effective.

We thought it fair to alert you of this. We also would like to ask permission for our warriors to attack bandits who reside within your borders and threaten our trade routes. We realize that you probably won't be able to spare many men to this task as your war with the Chachapoyas requires your full attention.

To Yunkasipascha
From the Republic of Llaqtapiyunkaorq'o

Thank you for your offer. We will designate 1 Unit to cooperate and ensure no incidents occur when you enter our own borders. It is good to have friends like you in these trying times, when empires invade and valleys rebel.

To celebrate, we invite your first guards to join our ceremonies! They are dampened due to the war effort, but we hope this hospitality will build stronger bonds between our two states.

Oi what about my diplo?

This one, I still need to know if I have permission to enter their territory to take out bandit camps that are threatening our trade routes.

Mesoamerica is in my spoiler.

Yeah who cares. I dunno if Kinich is still playing or not.

EDIT: JK I'll fix it after the miniupdate.

To Ollantaytambo Regional Authority
From Yucay Confederacy Central Authority

Welcome to the Confederation of Yucay, brothers! Apu and Pachamama look down favorably! Before anything else can commence, we must unite Yucay, though. In exchange for temporary command of some of your troops, we will give you 2 EP with which to build twin fortresses along the cliffs or the Urubamba River north of Ollantaytambo.

To Pisac
From Yucay Confederacy

We will ask once again for a peaceful resolution to this conflict of interests. Join us, and Ollantaytambo, Qosqo, and Pisac alike can bask in the glory of our golden valley. Join us, and all Yucay shall be one, and no army - from north or south - shall steal our autonomy again. All we ask is to unite under one flag, and have the Runa people strong against all invaders. Let the glory of ancient time come again, and Pachamama and Apu give their blessings and rejoice, for their chosen people will be whole once more.

Unrelated, but I typed up a massive wall of text on Qosqo societal organization and religion while procrastinating the afternoon away. Coming soon.

Miniupdate 18.1

Agreements Signed by Ink and Blood

1) Utica and Novaricum Sign Peace with the Pact of Narran!

Both city states gave up crucial aspects of their war aims to the Pact. Novaricum gave up her recent Koislyun Sea gains and Utica had to surrender Woet. They also paid a large fine to the victors. (10EP each IIRC) However, both states continue to dominate on the mercantile front, as the League’s shattered merchant and military fleets are no match for the competition. Although some discontent did form, with comparably small losses and saved from what many anticipate being an annihilation (of trade routes, not of themselves), most support this, and considered it the end of but another, if slightly larger, of the merchant wars which plagued the Central Seas since the Pirates of the Aegean have been destroyed.

(Utica and Novaricum -1 Domestic -10 Payment Each. Katan+2 Domestic. Hyak +1 Domestic)

2) The Musuriim Compact Sets Pact War Aims!

The Musuriim Compact was signed among the major powers of the Pact of Narran, as well as former Egyptian foes of Kush and Axum. Egypt continues to stand defiant against their growing foes, even though the loss of the delta means that their income will continue to decline. With the only other choice from resistance utter vassalage, the government stands strong, with the utter confidence of the people; most of whom know little of the news from the front.

3) Shah Gura defeated by Shah Kazu, The Sugudan Shahara spreads across Samara!

Kazu’s forces had high morale after a parade in Quan, where the nomads were greeted surprisingly well by the settlers there. Facing his rival Gura in battle and supported by a Sugudan chariot force, he routed Gura’s chariot fleet and personally threw his Javelin into his nemesis’ sternum. The coaliton Gura tried to build with his rabble rousing collapsed, and several lesser Shahs and chiefs, including splinters of Gura’s own Shahara, joined Kazu. (Kazu +1 Chariot +1 Loot; Suguda +1 Domestic)

4) Kadiz Capitulates! Leon and Co Sign Treaty of Barica.

THE TREATY OF BARCIA
I. As per the discussions which were held, Kadiz will cede the majority of its land to Lamari, Roba, and Leon, while retaining its capital and a small amount of the outlying area.
II. Kadiz will become a complete vassal of the Kingdom Of Leon.
III. Kadiz will pay 1 EP/turn as tribute to Leon.
Signed,
King Emilio de Caillaro I, Kingdom of Leon
King Francisco Nicodemo Flores II of Lamari, Vassal of Leon
King Edmundo Roque Basurto of Roba
Lord Ruperto Joaquín Gallo of Kadiz, Vassal of Leon

Even though Kadiz lost much, they quickly capitalized on the end of the war to reestablish merchant contracts- which to the surviving merchants (the nobles having been slaughtered during the war) is much more important than any other concern. (Kadiz-1 Domestic +1 Trade). However, major discontent eventually led the King to abdicate, and his son to declare a Republic, which is quickly controlled by the merchants.

Lamari gained a Lion’s share of the land, which they hold with some difficulty. (+2 Domestic)

Roba’s land was little, but they gave little as well. With the owners mostly dead, land sales gave the treasury a nice, fresh layer of gold. (+1 Loot)

Leon gained the lands of Gibraltar and beyond, and quickly took advantage of the trade routes that flourished as the fighting ends. (+1 Loot +1 Trade) However, land so far from their homeland is considerably harder to control than Vascony or even Neuva Vallaria. In Africa, a major chief assembled an army to retake the coastal Oasii and burn the town of the foreigners to the ground.

Does this affect the food situation in the Golden Kingdom of Ildaris?

If Ildaris wishes, they can purchase wheat from the Fallen Sea instead of Alfrenks. If you get the extra food ALL from the Fallen Sea, it will cost less due to bulk, depending on rates at Kosa and Gibraltar.

If both you and Armorica change sources for your food imports, the Alfrenk's agricultural economy may collapse upon itself, or try to shift to another crop.

As farms are being built and forests cut back, the food situation IS calming down slowly.

NOTE: I changed the maps around so I can now place cities directly next to the coast and black borders! I haven't completed these layers yet, so I would like to ask if you guys are cool with this.

1) Cities next to rivers and coasts. I changed them so that the cities and towns will be visible. This will allow for more "Interior" room for borders or more cities!

2) Black borders. Will help the map look cleaner, expansion easier to see, and hopefully divide almost-the-same color states from each other. I will also include dashed-lines naval borders.

Did you see the second diplo grouping I put up?

Completely fine.

From: Armorica
To: The Union of Brygantia

We will give full support to the ongoing events in Brygantia, including aid for Kentus against the Woad.

CC: Daughters of the Trinity, Iron Lancers, Unsullied

We will attend this new conference.

From: Beurtgang Empire
To: Vahlshallah, Armorica
CC: All Other Concerned Parties

We appear to have been misunderstood. The Bloody Throne is disinterested in any multiparty conference to resolve any issues currently considered pressing by the Beurtgang, Vahlshallan and Armorican empires. If there is any concern to be addressed among our peoples, let it be addressed amongst ourselves. We will not subordinate the will of our free people to lesser states.

From: Beurtgang Empire
To: Brygantia
CC: Valhshallah, Armorica, Daughters of the Trinity

Given the circumstances, we consider the Brygantian Union to be under the direct protection and patronage of the Bloody Throne, as is the Duchy of Kentus. The rights and privileges of the Faithful shall be protected in these realms by the Sanguinary Emperor's soldiers. We expect all parties, given the expressed indifference, to find this arrangement satisfactory.

Very well, though we were not inviting minor states, but highly important groups.

From: Armorica
To: Beurtgang Empire, Union of Brygantia
CC: All Other Concerned Parties

We protest this as the majority of the lands held by the Union are Druidic. Either the Union should be an independent entity in itself, or partly under Armorica and partly under the Beurtgang. I hardly call our contributions as "indifference". You showed indifference and even protested when we fought to defend one side of the agreement.

From the Union of Brygantia; Announcement

The Union of Brygantia must be independent and dependent upon the Continent. So far, only the Druids have given the support which BOTH sides have promised in the Treaty of Ostava, and so the Druids have prospered in securing their Treaty-defined lands, while the Faith have languished and were forced to retreat.

We are accepting recruits, volunteers, cash, and even "doner armies" under our banner, but please; respect our independence.

To Armorica

Independence is prefered, even though we are by nature dependent on the continent for colonists and troops.

To Buertgang

Your soldiers may march under our banner (like those of Armorica have done), although I am satisfied if you desire them to march under their own command. We will send consultants to maintain the Treaty of Ostava for any force on the land of Brygantia.

Your support is desired, and will bring balance back onto Brygantia. Dumonos have achieved their Treaty-defined borders. Kentus has not.
