Favourite civ tournament

China.

It occupies a strange space in DoC in that it has aspects of beginner (good land, good UP, good UU, good UB),
intermediate (Mongols, tech path, stability management) & advanced (micromanagement, optimization) play all rolled into one.
You never really have the same experience playing China everytime, more so than any other civ.
By virtue of starting in 3000 BC and not being expected to collapse, this is the most versatile civ in the entirety of DoC.

And in the blue corner, spawning in 1775 AD amidst European colonies, it's
America
 
I'm voting for India myself. Really great land (those flood plain grasslands are degenerate, and the flood of Calendar resources make Agrarianism actually viable), a challenging UHV, very fun to play as, and one of the greatest civilisations on Earth.
 
America, for the world superpower gameplay.

That was a hard one imo. But China is my favorite of all civs as well, for the reasons TD mentioned.
 
It's India vs. America

UP: India > America. Both are good and directly address the civs' unique needs. But India's UP is more elegant, subtle, and powerful IMO.

UU: America > India. America's UU is actually useful.

UB: America > India. Same reason as UU.

UHV: America > India. America's UHVs are perhaps my favorite UHVs. A balance of expansion, tech, diplomacy, wonders, and resource grabbing, which are all the things I enjoy in this game.

Winner: America

If India had been redesigned following my suggestions like America did, it would have stood a better chance.
