Favourite civ tournament

I haven't voted yet because I couldn't pick between Austria and Italy, but now I've chosen Italy.

And with that, voting is closed.
 
Italy wins the battle between two civs who have claimed to be Rome's successor at times! And Tibet.

France

And in the red corner, (re)spawning in 1500 AD in the heart of the islamic world, it's
Iran
 
This is an easy choice for me. I like Iran, it's a well-executed civ, but they don't compare to France.
 
I vote for Iran because no civ should suffer the humiliation of zero votes.

Also Iran is actually quite good. Everything about it is great (I like its UP/UB/UU better than the French ones) except the place it finds itself in - stuck between 2 of the most OP AI civs in the game and forced to instead befriend far away Europeans (who are usually either frigid or hostile).

So as far as room for improvements go, I think France has more room to improve than Iran does. Especially for the French UU.

Despite being surrounded on almost every side by enemies,
its central positioning is it's greatest strength.
Very well poised to launch an invasion against England, Spain and Italy
for the conquest goal or just Domination right from the onset.
And they have a lot of room to grow into anything you want them to be.
