Empire of Liberty

LOL, your not alone here kiddo. But life happens, and sometimes civ has to take a back seat to the real world :).

What do you guys think about my funny idea about the rail road wars? after everything else is done of course.

 from recently watching hell on wheels that interests me:D

Sorry my friend, I swear again I posted, but apprently I didn't hit post ): My internets being crappy lately, so sometimes it doesnt work, my apologies, so if I don't respond in a day or two usually that is the case and just post again and I should realize my mistake

yeah life is busy, moving houses, school starting again, work, there will be a little bit of adjusment period, but I will continue to mod and work on this mod:D

Where are we currently?

you too huh? lol, great show.

Ermm, not sure, thought we were discussing final map stuff.

hey guys,

acctually, i was busy a bit too, didnt touch civ recently, just wondered how you all doing :)
im hooked on the game league of legends most of my time...

bout the trains, i realy want to have some meaning to the trains, but, frankly im not sure how to implement it ...:(

i think we stopped with the map, i dont remember what you guys need me to do :)
i got some holidays now, so lay out whats needed from me :)

:)

(and il never loose the will to mod :)

There's huge amounts of info in Sid's railroad pc game. But as to how to implement it in BTS, I'm not sure. That could be something for further down the road. Sure would be fun to work on it though.

ok im renewing my work,

since there's not much activity on your end, i will place the cities my self to the best of my knowledge, i want to get the mod up.

im proceeding with the map as yo updated it last with a bit of changes from me, if you think the map needs more changes, you will be able to change it from my u[dated version once i finish with the cities.

started to place cities - i got 13 cities along the coast for the 13 colonies (13 colonies 13 cites ..)

also placed Spanish cities - 10 in the west coast along the rio grand up to the san Francisco bay.
2 cities also places in the Florida peninsula )st augustine and san marcos (thus a lot of ground separating the cities.

the french cities - 10 for now, placed in the mid american, scattered 8 + 2 at Canada - quebec and Montreal - which borders with the 13 colonies.

the English colonies will be placed on the upper america - Canada territory.

i have a question - if i play the 13 colonies and my neighbors are french mostly - how will the game have a war with the English? at game start? the English are at canada im a bit unclear here.

also i could use some info on how to place native americans.

****
ok im studying the maps of america - im buidlign the territories according to :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:NorthAmerica1762-83.png

did the french had no territories in the america prior to 1776?

*****
ok i give up, i dont know according to which map should i work.
plz if you could at least give me a territory map of america around 1775 where our mod begins.

*****
how about the scenario of the revolution, will be a map of east us, with a small part of Europe - for England France and Spain?
i dont know how we can do a scenario on the whole us that fits the revolution scenario.
the whole us map can be used for civil war, and a normal scenario with no history relations.

HEY GUYS,

sry for the lots of posting, but i went mad today, trying to figure out what map should we use to achieve the most accurate scenario,

since the mod starts on 1770 - the french have no pressence of colonies but until after the revolution war, and since we want the french to take parts ofc, and help the us and such,

i decided to create two maps specially for the revolution scenarion, i just cant decide yet on which to work and place cities:

attachment.php

the above one is a full america + span+England+France (size 10 X 55 - large - i have also created a 100X 45 smaller size - but this one needs to be edited)
the below is just east of the america + Europe (size 95X45 - standard)

so what do you think guys - which will serve us better as a scenario for the revolution war?

the regular map we already use, will serve us in the civil war scenario.

i was thinking on 3 scenarios :
1. revolution war - the only east coast + Europe
2. civil war map (the original one)
3. revolution all the way map full america and Europe ( 2 sizes ( standard and large)
4. free style on any of the scenarios, you know random regular game with pre defined starting locations.

5. stay with the original america map, we use it for the rev war scenario ( no Europe)

what do you think? im anxious to hear what you think about all my posts here.

Hey Kel, if you look on pg 10, post 193, I gave you some excellent links for colony maps.

1) sounds good. There's plenty of historical info we can use for units and placements. Plus how much reserves got sent during that time.

2) same as #1. problem here being that there is already 1 or 2 really good civil war scenarios on the boards. This might be the place for us to do a rail road wars scenario since the time frame is relatively close.

3) hmnn. How about The Great Land Rush pushing west and the Indian wars it caused?

4) Free style is always fun, and since the map is so large, we could get quite a few Native civs on there as well as U.S. cities and forts.

5) We're back at 1 again, as the French played key rolls in assisting the colonies. Additionally, the English had treaties with the Spanish for cotton states at the time. Think we're going to need certain Euro key players in this if we want it authentic.

For maps, I'm thinking large size given the amount of battles there were, not to mention main key objectives that the Brits held as well. Additionally, there were quite a few towns that were major depots for the irregulars to hide out and resupply from.

Just my opinions, would like to hear Dacs input.

hey buddy,

ok then, thanks for the great input :)

i gather that the addition on europe to the map is a good idea then.

so i guess my first scenario work will be on map number 2 with half of the us to focus on the revolution start.
the second scenario can be a full map with europe, but i had trouble at placing cities fir the large map, so ill leave that to the wisdom of dacubz, when he get the time :)

i used the links you got me :)

thanks , now im gonna work fast and have our selfs a scenario.

Sure thing.

Dac? I'm curious as to how your going to manage the reinforcements from England, especially since there was a set amount that King George was willing to send.

Did you want me to do some research into that? as well as the rest of the Euro trash? Additionally, there were certain native tribes that were allies to the colonies, the French, and the English... We could have a full on royal rumble depending on how much you wanted in this :D

Thoughts? (I realize both you and I have kids in school, so family time is precious. No need for a frantic rush).

heehee yea busy life :)

ye i could use your help a bit with the natives, if you can tell me which tribes we need on the map, as well as names and locations for their settelments.

ive began placing cities.

***
im not sure how we can control the actual events in the game, i guess we will have to find some python stuff that will simulate war , supplies and army support between nations.
same goes for trains. thats my least strong side in modding though.

***
13 cities to the americans,
5 cities on england
8 cities in france
6-7 cities in spain
10+ cities for english at north america - the canada region and down.
4 cities for England in the west and east Florida
5 cities for Spain in the Louisiana border (gonna ad a few more for them)

gonna at the natives add in the reserve territories and the west of us.

in order to avoid having a massive empire fresh on the start im gonna break the empires into groups - like England will be consists of 2 leaders (same leader for both) one in England 1 in the us - ill make them allies of course (maybe in a team).

natives tribes in the rev scenario:
creek - 5 cities
iroquois - 3 cities
Choctaws - 3 cites
Apachie - 3 cities
souix - 3 cities

*****
ok i mostly finished with placing cities and setting the nations:

1. great Britain - location - Britain europe + Ireland - 6-7 cities + 4 cities in west and east florida. - led by king george
2. France - location - France Europe - 7 cities + 1 at island of st. john in north america
3. Spain - location Spain Europe - 6 cities - led by Isabella
4. 13 colonies - location east coast - 13 cities
5. British Columbia - 10 or so cities spanning from Quebec to mid west (borders with Spain Louisiana) - led by king George
6. american Spanish colonies - location - from the rio grand up to the north 5-6 cities.

natives:
1. creek tribe - 5 cities at the native reserve territory as it was at 1775.
2. Choctaws - 3 cities in the mid
3. Apache - location near Spanish Americans - 3 cites
4. souix - near Apache - 3 cities
5. Iroquois - in the Canadian area 3-4 cities.

lots of cities...

need to do:

1. lock the nations into alliance = France with Americans.
2. team the same nations - the two English civs and the two Spanish civs. (example - British Colombia and great Britain will be locked as team 1 so tall game long they both be affected the same, but as different civs)
3. add a few more accurate rivers (by the way i removed all the previous rivers...so ill do the,m more accurate.

and the most pressing problem - setting up starting attributes for civs and cities:
i was thinking on all cities start as 1 (except 2-3 in those of the European placed nations)
the natives cities - also starting as 2-3 - and make that native Americans will not be able to build settlers and many other units and buildings.
money - how do i over come the maintenance problems in game start? maybe ill lower all city maintenance (using the eras and raise money outputs for starting turns + each civ will start with a ncie amount of gold)

i really need you input, if you guys dont have the time to work, at least help me with the information and guidance, thanks.

im getting closer, if i keep this rate of work, now that im back at it, a full first scenario is very close.

i still need to:
1. obsolete buildings - still none of the buildings go obsolete.
2. add art style of units for all native Americans.
3. add some projects - i was thinking if not founding fathers - then how about some of the "acts" that were made?
4. think of something for railroad like drak said.
5. add a few mods for sdk that i already use in another mod of mine - sdk mods that help.

wake up guys!

This might be a really good time to look at the TAC mod in the Colonization mods thread, he's got some really great stuff we may be able to use in order to help. I'll get started on the background stuff as well as work on info for historical starts.. Still waiting on Dac's input :D
