Alright then. I have gone all "Ja Kali Ma" and stuff on ATEN, so that's that.
Now for my January game.
Well, it wouldn't be in the IOT subforum likely, but as it will probably feature primarily IOT folks, I think discussing it here would be a good idea.
Alright, so what IS set in stone about it?
For starters, it will be an IAAR game based off of El Justo's
Age of Imperialism mod for Civilization 3.
The actual forum game will basically consist of players vying for power and influence within the empire of choice, with the exact model likely varying depending on which civilization we choose to be. The game runs from 1895 to 1924, with each year being 13 turns.
Now which nation would we want to be, is the primary question. The colonial nations are as follows:
- Great Britain
- France
- Germany
- Lowlands
- Portugal
- Spain
- United States
- Italy
- Japan
- Scandinavia
- Balcan Nations
- Austria-Hungary
- Russia
While all the minor powers (the Latin American countries, Abyssinia, the Boers, Ottomans, Persians, Chinese, Siamese, Tibetans, etc.) are available, it goes without saying playing as them is invariably much more difficult.
I'd outline the specific ruleset as time went on, and that is why I'm here to ask: which nation would we be playing as? I myself would prefer Germany, due to being a medium-sized power with a good unit line and various opportunities for expansion. Of course I am open to suggestions.
It goes without saying not all positions are equal, and the players of the game most likely wouldn't be either; each player's starting stats would be based on the empire they'd cooperatively be managing.
