a) Time zones.

b) It's normal for there to be a lull when the GM announces the update is incoming.

Also sleep, school/work, and just generally having better things to do with your life means that people aren't posting 24/7

Also I'm writing a story that will probably be finished and posted once I get up tomorrow.

The Platonic Republic will want a meeting with the UAR about improving relations after the... "Hanoi Incident."

We will however still press for the warlords to be placed as elites in the independent government of Vietnam, at least to avoid both the perils of the puppet government by Japan and the democratic government that would only drag mobs into civil war more bloody to the point it would make your current fears of a bloodbath look like a holiday.

World News!

Thessalonica Declares Independence

After being invaded by Rome and then traded to Greece all in the space of a few months the Thessalonians decided to proclaim their own independence. Identifying with neither the Roman invaders or the Greek overlords their new constitution has set them up as an independent republic. With the majority of Greece's military away in their ill fated war with Japan there was little resistance for them to contend with. Doing away with the caste system that had been thrust upon them in the previous months reports account of Thessalonians burning their colour coded clothing.

Platonic Republic Ambassador to Germany Shot

The Greek ambassador to Germany was shot outside his residence in Berlin. The gunman was quickly found and arrested when asked for a reason in court as to why he committed the crime he was reported to have said "I was just sick of that man shouting the word Justice at me". The gunman was a member of the German staff attacked to the embassy. His sentiment represents a growing trend throughout Western Europe of annoyance and even hatred towards the Greeks' self proclaimed moral authority and superiority.

Amendments to UN rules ratified

The latest proposal to create new interim rules for the UN has been a success. Now all that remains is to fully agree on an official constitution. World News! managed to acquire comments from UN dignitaries that suggested there is a feeling of great relief in the assembly and many feel this is going to be a useful step as it will allow the UN to concentrate on more pressing issues such as the humanitarian crises in Vietnam and Rhodesia.

Civil War in New Rhodesia

Following the resignation of the nations leader the separatist factions of Mozambique gained large amounts of influence in the military and declared their independence from Rhodesia. The resulting civil war is causing a humanitarian crisis which observers are comparing to Vietnam in its severity. Thousands are already dead. It really does show just how competent New Rhodesia's leader must have been in the past to keep these warring factions under control.

Rosemary

In France a small dissident movement is emerging, identifying each other by wearing a sprig of rosemary about their person. Following the leaks of some unknown person who claims that the deaths on the Rosemary were sanctioned by the French government in order to acquire and arsenal of Nuclear Weapons and it was the apathy of French citizens that lead to their deaths. So far the group remains small, analysts believe this is either because the provenance of these allegations is dubious or that the French population has fallen into a mindset of the Ends Justifying the Means.
As of yet there is no evidence to support the allegations made. France has no known nuclear arsenal.

Vietnam

- Japanese forces landed in Hanoi with an army backed up with naval bombardment and napalm from the skies. The city itself was quickly subdued however there were horrendous civilian causalities Ngô Quang Thuần and a number of the Warlords have retreated into the nearby countryside to regroup. Analysts comment that now what was a small alliance of warlords is quickly forming into something more in the face of the threat of japan from one side and Peacekeepers from the other.

-A group of Peacekeepers were killed while trying to deliver aid to a village near to the area under Japanese control. Hostility from Japan is now at an all time high. Despite various efforts made by the Peacekeepers in the north no gains have been made and violence still continues even in areas under UN control. Observers suggest that with more international cooperation that the mission could be more successful with increased policing forces and more economic investment.

- A large fleet of Greek ships carrying the majority of their army was defeated in a naval battle in the JCZ many thousands of prisoners have been taken by Japan and are being held in POW camps in China. No Greek forces even manged to reach Hanoi before it was destroyed.

:lmao:
"Not to mention that yellow font burned my eyes!"

Robbie, might I humbly ask for a turn index on the front page?

ouch. so much for the Platonic Military. courage and justice, eh? you got owned by japan. Glad we weren't there.

anyway, the Roman Emperor would like to issue an apology to Thessaloniki for conquering the area. the Roman Commander responsible has been discharged for acting like conquerors, not liberators.

...but, we do want Thessaloniki anyway. so please excuse us if we want the Roman flag flying there. the people will be treated nicely, same as any other ethnic group we contain. full rights and privileges.

integration of Bulgaria complete

the Integration of Bulgaria is completed. the bulgarian people will enjoy full rights and priviliges, as well as the protected culture status, since we have some concern that Bulgaria itself can be easily overwhelmed by culturally greek, Turkish, or other groups. Bulgaria, is about 5 to 10 times smaller than the rest of the Empire, population-wise.

The War Against Japan: Setbacks Do Not Equal Bad Fortune

Although the capture of the members of the Protective Caste by the brutal armies of Japan may be a curse, we must be thankful for in the end we diverted the Japanese come once again committing genocide against the oppressed peoples of Vietnam, whose brave and wise elite in the Hanoi Council have been most brutally massacre by Japanese forces. General Toto, having managed to return to Athens to begin a military review programme in preparation for future strategies, has stated that our warriors in captivity will "have to be kept save if the Japanese hoped for a peace that involves Japan surviving after the war." Despite our losses Greece is save and, although cowardly in their failure to save the Hanoi Council and the citizens massacred by Japan, the United Nations are giving a shield to protect Vietnamese from harm. We only wish they had the courage and wisdom to stand up fully against the Japanese imperium. In the mean time we will brood our plots accordingly.

Thessalonica falls to Anarchy

It appears tragic that agents of chaos have decided to misdirect the people into Thessalonica into not accepting the just way. The Roman selfless directive to aid a common classical power has been exploited by the enemies of justice. The Philosopher Council has given the Protective Caste permission to lead the directive in restoring order to Thessalonica. The Platonic Republic must not fracture in the face of war and traitors must answer before justice. However the general masses in Thessalonica re not to blame but rather the deviant yet admitting cunning fallen members of the Thessalonians elite. Due to the war with Japan any Japanese citizen found in Thessalonica darning the Protective Caste's liberation of city will be questioned on their purpose, in case of any Japanese plot relating to the incident. We cannot deny the possibilities as the brave members of our Protective Caste show the anarchist scum Hell. We ask Rome to respect this as we restore order; only a part of the Protective Caste (OOC: possible lies, although I sure I only sent 1 out of my 4 claims to Vietnam and did not state how much of my army I sent, nor does it deny the Libyans...) is in captivity in China. Even a small number of troops can defeat anarchist. In unrelated news...

The Army Opens to Upgrade Productive Caste members to Protective Caste and Mercenary Contracts Offered by the Protective Caste

Due to the hostility of the war we will need as much manpower as possible to aid our efforts. The Platonic Republic fear they have not valuated their members correctly (OOC: basically trying to conduct a sneak conscription campaign) so that we can ensure proper balance in our forces. The Platonic Republic has also offered a contract open for any mercenary companies or privateers to help our forces in the upcoming wars.

Tragic murder of a Diplomat

We are still in morning of the tragic murder of Spiro Murga, a young member of the Governing Caste who was stationed in Berlin. The murderer, who we hope will be bought to justice for crimes against the Platonic Republic, has cost the world a potential figure of wisdom who took to his academia and archery well. We will dismiss Murga but remember also that he will be in a better place, continuing to cry justice in the name of the Platonic Republic.

Macedonia to join the Platonic Republic

In a lighter note Macedonia, birthplace of Alexander the Great whose bravery we must admire, will be soon a member of the Platonic Republic. Already the Philosopher Council is talking with the local lords to debate their entry to both the Protective and Governing Castes depending on their ability. With Macedonia and its potential warriors we have hope yet.

In other news...

Note: I am only marking 2 areas I am claiming so far, one is a certain city that I will be attempting to aid by force. I am still considering the other 2 options I regards to Japan.

Plato Claims.png

Edit: claims will, due to the war, will possible be set next season due to the war.

the Roman Emperor decided to concede Thessaloniki to the platonic Republic. however, he made it clear that if the Platonic Republic fail, the Empire will have to move in.

Austria supports the Platonic claim on Thessalonica, and is pleased that the situation was resolved without resorting to war.

The Platonic Empire must thank the Holy Roman Empire for its part in the diplomatic stability in the processions to Rome and Rome for its kindness. Thessalonikia will be bought into order!

we actually aren't being kind, its more of a your move kind of thing. if you manage to liberate the city, with minimal losses on both sides, and full attempts of peaceful integration afterwards, then you have succeeded and the Roman Empire will do nothing.

mind you, we stress the word liberate. if we see massive deaths, or generally uncivilized behavior, we are going to have to take action.

(OOC: try PMing RC, detailing your liberation of the region, and detailing exactly what your troops would do, and what the Republic does in the immediate aftermath.)

Added the turns to the first post also the following information:

Note:
Summer is July-August
Autumn is September-November
Winter is December-February the year is the year in which the winter starts
Spring is March-May

Players are also reminded that partaking in the peacekeeping operation reduces your claims. Overseas cost 2 and large territories also cost 2, If you ever have any doubt as to what counts as large please feel free to ask. When at war you receive no claims.

We are after the anarchists who mislead the people, not the people themselves. Our troops will move in after we have ensured the strategy best suited to the task. Even without your judgement we would peruse this path, for it is not justice to kill the innocent.

Were any of the humanitarian workers injured or killed Irish?

Regardless, we will send class A troops to pacify the UN territories.

@Patchy, Thor We have people from almost every time zone, and the last two IOTs where never resolved, so that why I freaked when nobody posted for six hours.

the Roman Empire expands its military commitment in Vietnam, now that our mainland expansion is over. it is massive.
