The Great DoC UHV v 1.12 challenge

I puzzled my way to yet another even better victory:

Polynesia, Turn 206 (860AD), PARAGON/Normal, SVN 837, Score: 7356

I am pretty sure with better planing this can be improved by yet another 2, possibly even 3 turns. (I had no helping/annoying random events, so with the right ones, you could maybe get another turn or two)

@ above: I dont remember Spain as being especially difficult, they are on the same level as the other Euros, I'd say. Make sure you research Printing Press and use spies to prevent any Euro from switching to Protestantism.

Thank you! The OP was updated to post #106.
Kbee38: after loading a save, I saw another score. This is the score in the OP (post #94).
Pippo84: you need a save to prove a virtual victory (post #106).

Polynesia, Turn 305(816AD), Monarch/Epic, SVN 838, Score:5542

Though my score is lower then @chep, I decide to post it here...;)

Civilisation: Polynesia
Difficulty: Monarch
Gamespeed: Normal
Score (normalised): 7065 Henry VIII

Victory info:

Actual victory date: t231, 1100AD

Strategy:
I think I don't need to give one, since we all know it.

Suggestions:
I suggest the 1st goal become "Found Hawaii and Marquesas." It will take more time to reach the easter island this way. I think it is possible to start with only one settler, but it will be more difficult in this case.

The OP was updated to post # 124.
Chep: After loading your saves (posts #116 and #121) I saw another winning date which is in the OP.
The OP is finally fully up-to-date!

makes sense that I have won the turn the wonder is finished, I just provided the turn where I got the notification.

great work and thanks for keeping this list :)
it is part of my motivation to keep playing this mod and to try new civs :)
1) I always use the date of the save.
2) Thank you! Extremely glad to hear (read) it!
By the way, there are 14 civs left.

Inca, Scenerio 600AD, Victory in 1700AD, Monarch/Epic, SVN 838, Score:3430

I tried a different way from market-whip and great merchant for gold. First build 2 catapults and attack the Native cities, research construction and bronze working, then all cities turn production to gold, 0% research. Of course you need to build enough Aucacs and put them north and south, and 5 tambos as soon as possible. Build a work boat and stay in Aztec city Coyuca, you can see Europeans at once, and there will be no conqueror event.

Then buy drama and 100% culture, rush settlers till 60%.

Which scenario is it?
If you want to claim a virtual victory, you need two saves.

It's 600AD.

Er... Unfortunately the autosave had been deleted... just count as 1700AD, I'd deleted the virtual date.

Thank you! The OP is updated to post #129.
Soul-breathing, the winning date in the OP is that of the save.
The OP is fully up-to-date.

Scenario: 600AD

Gamespeed: Normal
Score (normalised): 13044 Abraham Lincoln

Victory info:

Virtual victory date: -(I forgot to track the save)

Actual victory date: 1799AD

Strategy:

Conquer Italy, England ASAP. Then Spain and Balkans, the exact conquest depends on the game (who is weak, stop competition etc.). Conquest will last until the last turn, continue after reaching 40%, congresses might distrub the balance. Meanwhile prioritise the culture techs and colonise America. Try to win before Canada's spawn, avoiding both US and Canada's flipping area is difficult and unnecessary.

Suggestions:
40% is really easy. Maybe increase the target area to include the whole Russia and the whole north America. Alternatively include west Africa too (40% of west Africa).

Thank you! The OP was updated to post #133. Citis, I saw another score after loading the save. It's in the OP. Besides, I think it's 600 AD, not 3000 BC.
The OP is fully up-to-date.

Strange, I have the screenshot with 13044, but nevermind. And yes you are right, it is 600AD.

not a UHV (yet) but if anyone is interested:

HERE is a save from a Japan-game in 1940 with the first 2 UHVs achieved, however since my computer is not the fastest I think even just pressing "end turn" 70-80 times for UHV 3 would take me >5h.
So if anyone wants the glory of winning with Japan on Paragon/Normal, be my guest.
(you control half the world and have a tech lead. I edged out a domination victory 10 turns from the save, so it should be rather easy to win)

honestly, I don't even care how it will be credited, it is just too sad that I can't finish it myself because my computer is too slow for it.

Well, I was lazy:

Congo, 1862, 1700AD-scenario, Paragon/Normal, SVN 840, Score: 3072

doc-congoparagonuhv.png

I tried the 600AD-start but since no civ switched over to Protestantism when it was discovered in 1450 I couldn't get UHV1 no matter how fast I expanded.

In the 1700AD-scenario you basically just have to train 2 great spies and use them on the Dutch. I wasted a few turns, but then you need them to reach the industrial era, so in the end I don't think it matters too much.

Anyway, in the 1700AD-scenario this is one of the easiest victories to be gotten

I just did the Egypt UHV. With this city.

Spoiler :

Civilization: Egyptian Exodites
Scenario: 3000 BC, version 1.12
Difficulty: Monarch
Speed: Marathon
Score: 7227
Virtual Victory: Turn 439(56 AD)
Final Victory: Turn 462

Now I admit this was far from smooth sailing. Getting through the first half of the game was hell, there were stretches where triggering a Stability Check would make me collapse. Multiple times I had to leave my current research project unfinished to avoid this. Finishing techs after completing a wonder seemed safe. I had to start over from scratch four times, I don't even want to know how often I had to reload trial and erroring at which points I can afford a Stability Check.

After having little luck with just harrassing Babylon to prevent him from getting any of Sphinx, Pyramids and Hanging Gardens I decided to go for an early knockout punch instead. Six warriors against a bowman and a warrior were enough. The first few warriors scoured the African continent for animals to farm XP, every little advantage counted.

The first goal was by far the hardest, I got my Great Prophet to complete the culture requirement with barely four turns to spare.

That was the hard part, finishing the wonders after that was easy, I had plenty enough production even lacking stone.

Getting Drama from the Oracle put the lid on the third goal.

The Great Library was instantly finished by my second GP, an Engineer. As you can see in the previous screen getting a GE was a 50/50 shot. The complementary Golden Age for achieving two goals let me construct an Opera House in 20 turns. At this point my culture slider of course was on 100 %.

One turn before Virtual Victory.

The hard part was the first goal, after that I pretty much only went through the motions. Could probably have been another 10 turns faster if I paid more attention. I stupidly forgot to maintain contact with the other civs for a while, costing me the three trade routes of my city and I should have sent an axeman east to India sooner. I only did that after the Virtual Victory to tech trade for additional score. Not that my score in the end is anything impressive, mind.

Also would have been a lot faster on the third goal if my third GP was a Great Artist(bit more than 20% chance I think, see Great Library screen). Just can't overcome the Great Library's GPP output even when running two artists. But oh well, the Academy gives +4 Culture too. That would be a rather easy way to reduce my turn number though by redoing that part until I get an artist.
