- Holy Rome (3000 BC start, no SVN)
- Paragon/Normal
- victory date : 1405 AD
- score : 9458
An even faster victory, this time on Paragon, and on a 3000 BC start (gotta be abit lucky with these, because sometimes it simply cannot be won, e.g when the Apostolic Palace or the Holy Church are in Athenai, deep within powerful Byzantine territory).
Fortunately this was quite an unusual starting situation, with most of the former Eastern Roman Empire taken over by barbarians.
I started conquering it all with my initial troops, also doing a little reconnaissance to know where the Catolic holy city was (it was in Ophiusa, on the banks of the black Sea)
The barbarians horse archers were quite annoying and took back some conquered cities a few times.
The vikings also decided they wanted some German heads, and declared war on me from a lonely entrenched city in Romania, which I couldn't capture at all because of my subpar military technologies.
Meanwhile, I proceeded to build the Apostolic Palace in Freiburg (my capital), beelined for Drama (mandatory for a fast victory), then Printing Press.
There was little wonder pollution - and only in cities that wouldn't spawn great people anyway - after I razed a greek city containing the Great Library (the bane of a fast Holy Roman victory), and I thus managed to spawn only Great Artists (in Freiburg and Magdeburg, with an Opera to speed things up), securing an early victory, before the Turks could completely overrun me.
In conclusion, although the record achievable in 3000 BC start varies greatly depending on the starting situation, I think I'm stretching the victory date to the limits here (on Paragon anyway).
