Better Mainmenu Modmodmod

I've been thinking that the DoC interface at the main menu needed work, so I decided to do a little change. You might not like it, but I think it's not too bad. I think it's necessary to have Dawn of Civilization actually on the title screen. So I did just that

To put this into use, you need anything after 1.12, 1.12 itself won't work because the way art works with it is different. What you do is you take the file that you downloaded and unzipped "main menu" and then go into this file path (RFC Dawn of Civilization\Assets\Art\Interface) and replace the existing main menu file with the new one.

Looks nice.

I recommend making the XML files modular. That makes it easier to install/ uninstall. You can add multiple opening themes into one mod. In the options menu, you can change the themes. (RFCA has this)

Thanks for updating the index. I've thought about this a couple of times, but didn't want to subject anyone to the results of my graphics skills

Personally I don't like the digital/electronics theme of the used font, but it looks good nonetheless.

I managed to get the module to work but I can't find where the xml file refers to the file civtitle.dds. I looked in the CIV4MainMenus.XML and CIV4ArtDefines_Interface and found no reference to that file.

I made it a module and now I added some coding so that you can go between the original, the digital, and the new flag one that I added. I know they're hideous. I just want to show what I have the ability to do. I just need ideas from you people. Download the new version now.

Okay guys, I need your opinion. I'm going to remove the flag one because it's horrendously ugly and replace it with a mosaic. (Unless you guys tell me you like the flag). If I can manage to make this look good, I think it can be a keeper.

I made two mosaics, if you guys could tell me which one is your favorite, and how I could tweak it, that would be great.

I prefer the curling one a bit.

Two (small) points of criticism.

Would it be possible to make it look like a rug in stead of a sheat of paper? I dislike the very sharp edges but I like the feel of age the mosaic brings across very much.

Also I like the clarity of the text, but I dislike the effect of the letters being cut out of the background. Can you make it so that they still hint at being windows through the mosaic but also look like they are lying on top/hovering in front of the mosaic?

Imho both mosaics looks already significantly better than the original DoC front (so they both get a keep flag from me) But how do they look on the Tower of Babel background currently in use for DoC?

I concur. (it looks really nice indeed)

I don't think anything needs to be added. But from an artistic point of view the letters seem to be either stamped out or burned out. You might leave a clue for the reader about what happened to the sheet of old paper. That way your artwork (also) tells a little story about itself.

sry for the tower of Babel-background. It is gone with 1.4 I can't help you there anymore.
