Peacefully cancelling agreements

I think that it should be possible to re-negociate certain agreements. For instance, if you're paying a certain Civ 10 GPT and you are invaded and lose your economy fifteen turns later, you should be able to open a re-negociation screen where you could, say, spread out your payments from 10 Gold for the next five turns to 5 Gold for the next ten turns. Or you could just cancel the payments altogether and give them a few advanced techs or luxury resources to make up for it. Also, if you have an MPP with someone and that person is invaded and demands you defend him, you should have three options: Fulfill your obligation, Refuse to honor the treaty, or Re-negociate. You could then agree to secretly fund them. Obviously, re-negociating an MPP at such a time would result in a minor rep hit, but not one as big as simply refusing to honor the treaty.

That's actualy a really good idea.

yes i like it. not so much the re-nogiation, but DEFINATLTY do the thing with the mpp

Thats a really nice Idea. Not everything is white and black in diplomacy and CIV3 certainly is black and white. Secretly funding or supporting would be a little hard for the AI to do though, beacuse then it would have to have a motive and foresight which unfortunatly isnt one of a CIV AI strengths...hopefully this will get looked into more
