Civilopedia: Maiden Castle is a Celtic fortress that lies in present region of Wessex, England, built in many stages among 3.5000 and 350 b.C. Maiden derives from “Mai Dun”, that means great hill. This hill fort covers 47 acres (19 hectares), the biggest one ever built and was used to defeat the powerful Roman legions for years, around 44 a.C, time of the Rise of Roma. Before the Legions, many other invaders felt the power of this fortress. Maiden Castle just felled down in the I century, after several attacks of the Roman Empire.

This is EXCELLENT and PERFECT for my next mod! It is already in.. a perfect European Replacement for the Great Wall!

Very nice wonder CivArmy.. however I see a historical innacuracy. In the wonder splash there is a Celtic Cross. Mai Dun didn't fall until 44 C.E which was before any Gaelic people adopted Christianity. Christianity wasn't really even adopted widespread in the Roman Empire yet, and it didn't reach Brittania until later.

I'm still going to download this wonder, perhaps it will make it in the 31 Other Civilizations Mod. Keep on creating more work! :goodjob:

exellent! :D

your buildings are awesome, keep up the good work man

Fantastic Wonder Just what I need. Just one slight problem your castle looks medieval were as you afore mensioned the castle was built in 350b.c. which means the castle will have been constructed from timber not stone, althoug in saying that the iron age started in britain 100 years before the rest of europe. So although it may have been possible to build maiden castle out of stone I just don't think they would have had the tech knowlogy to build such high walls out of stone. Perhaps more likely they used stone for the bottom half and used wood for the ramparts and battlement. But there is one thing I am deffinitely sure of and that is that the turrets would have been square and not round. This is because round turrets where made to withstand the impact of cannon balls and the cannon wasn't invented until the 1300's.

Sorry I tend to ramble about things some times. Keep up the good work :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:
