This is my version of the wonderful and very well-done Europe map by Trip which was 180x130.

Download here if you want to play it: I will use this map for my Middle Ages project: Dark Ages and High Middle Ages scenarios.

Clean version: no starting locations, resources and bonus grasslands.

Addictions:

Northern Sahara and Southern Morocco
Low Nile / Egypt
Northern Arabia and Higiaz
Shatt-el-Arab region, Elam, Persia, Persic Gulf
Caspian region and Lake of Aral
Ural river and Ural mountains (with a small part of Siberia)
Arachangelsk's gulf
Central parts of Scandinavia and Finland
Bornholm and Faer Oer isles

Small changes:

Mediterrenean isles
Greek and Turk coasts and isles (exspecially Peloponnesus)
Azov Sea
Northern and southern Italy
Azerbaigian's coasts
Corrections and addictions (expecially in Northern Africa) about the rivers placement
Jordan region: desertified; Dead Sea alligned with the Aqaba Gulf
Something else of little importance

Sorry for the bad quality of the preview (in the editor minimap looks better).

Do you see that the addictions are handly done (withoit any guide grid)?! So, there are a few zones I don't like much. For example Norway and the red Sea. What do you think about? Feedback is appreciated.

Hey, nicely done. A good map made even better :goodjob:

And without any guide grid?! Looks just fine to me!

Looks really, really fine, but I can't dowload it :( Could you please upload it on this forum... Grazie mille ;)

That's really good work !!!! It's gonna be my reference for european games. :goodjob:

But it can yet be improved. ;)

Benelux :
- more flood plain instead of marshes in Holland
- more hills in Wallonia, and you could add river Meuse
Turkey :
- the Marmara sea should be open to the mediterranean
- Rhodes shouldn't join the continent
Jordan :
- the Aqaba Gulf should be aligned with the Dead Sea
Italy :
- Maybe add Vulcano, Lipari or Stromboli
- Vesuvio should be next to the sea, on Napoli's Bay

But well, these are really details. ;) Your map is great !

Thanks! But remember that this map is more trip's than mine!

I've uploaded a new version:
Benelux: Meuse and hills added. I'dont want to place flood plains because it seems to me tropical stile (i don't like to see desert-like tiles in the heart of Europe)
Turkey: changes done. The whole region looks better now.
Jordan: Aqaba gulf and Dead sea alligned. All the region has been desertified.
Italy: I don't make the changes you've requested for aesthetical reasons, and in order to let city building on all the Campany coastal squares.

Beautiful map, now well framed! All can be played there until 1492. I look forward playing the Dark Age on it, although I fear some powerhouse will emerge in Siberia, terrain there will have to be made more harsh. Maybe adding a terrain type later on(such as evergreen forest, hard to chop down, with very poor food production)?

A few additional remarks: for using the map in both the Dark Age or RFRE, it will need many more forests. The map would also gain having more hills in many other places than the Ardennes, such as Wales, Scotland, Greece, Bulgaria etc. I would also let the channels between Sicily/Italy, Byzantium/Turkey open to navigation rather than having a land bridge.

This is a clean version, so every scenario creator can add what he wants for historical accuracy.

About the channels, I prefere the bridges. You can change them. :)

About the empty space in Siberia, as you can read in Dark Ages' preview, there settlers will be very expensive and most of the civs won't be able to build'em. Slavs and Bulgarians should be of little disturb.

how can you call this a europe map when you dont even have all of europe in it? why including so much north africa when you havent even fininshed north europe?

I was the one who originally designed the map, and the reason I did so was mostly (though not entirely) for scenarios. How many significant events have taken place in Lappland? How many in Egypt and the Middle East?

The far north is mostly unpopulated and has seen very little colonization or combat, making it less significant to include. This is in stark contrast with North Africa and the Middle East, which are ripe with history and conflict.
