We all know this guy way too well, eh? Well, at least we think we do.

Anyway, this unit belongs to my upcoming mod (see my civ-specific tech tree project).

I modeled him loosely on the Palestinian insurgents and the Afghan Mujahedin.

He definitely needs to have the Palestinian-style headdress (anybody know what that's called?)! His pants are genuine Arabic baggy pants, camo-style!

As you can see, he's got 3 weapons: An AK-47, a hand grenade and a RPG launcher (Rocket-Propelled Grenade). Yeah, I'd like to see all three anims... The RPG anim could actually be made into an AA anim. Remember the Afghans bringing down Soviet choppers by the score with their Stinger RPG's?

I don't know whether Dom Pedro had a Mujahedin planned for his "Embattled Holy Land" pack, but if not, maybe now he does? ;)

I support this unit 100% (as long as it's Civ III we're talking about), and could use this guy as a TOW infantry replacement for the mideastern Civs in the Modern era.

Sir, If I remember correctly, it's called a Yashmaugh (I bought one during a port visit to Bahrain about a month ago), but I'd have to double-check to make sure.

@DPII, I have an AK-47 and could build an RPG launcher, but you'd have to come up with the turban yourself, since I aint got one.

The internet's got nothing on the yashmaugh.... it's probably spelt differently.

Also, I think we should give the Arab/Muslim civs a sporting chance here... fanaticism and violence like that of the mujahedin is not the ultimate, inevitable end of Islam as I try to show in my tech tree for my mod. It's basically the Asharite school of thought centuries ago that derailed Islam from its increasing commercial, scientific, and secular direction.

So maybe make this unit specially accessible with a particular kind of government? Or only after researching some off-shoot tech...

EDIT: It's Yashmagh. Close...

Could be a Religious Fanatism government units, but only for Middle East. Not sure that could be done: actually the only way to have gov-specific units is to use a builder wonder. The solution could be insert a prerequisite building, like mosquee for Islam or church for Christianism.

BTW, other cool artwork could be from C&C2: Generals

as far as i know it's called kafiya in the middle east (israel where i live)

Rufus follow the link in my first post. That'll show you how to implement this guy.

Dom Pedro, you are right. That's why I want to make the Mujahedin available only with Islamic Republic.

I have read: but this could be work for only a civ, with a GW. I don't know if it is possible with SW. But my idea is different: Fanatism will not be only Islamic one, could be used for Puritan or to make Crusades: if the wonder need a specific building, more civ can build it.

In example:

I'm an muslim, I had researched on my tree the Islam tech (optional) wich make me able to build mosquee. When I change gov to Fanatism, I have the possibility to make Jihad wonder in a city with mosquee, that make muijahidin. If I'm Christian, Christianity give the possibility to make church, and Fanatism gov the possibility to create Crusades, but only in a city with a church (or basilica).

If it works, you can have different culture buildings (and unit) with the same Government.

(d'oh, I have push quote instead edit button!)
