This is a new thread for a game that was originally organized in another thread.

Players : 8 (Celts, Goths, Scythes and Egypt will be played by AI)

Rome - ChrisiusMaximus
GreyBeard - Macedonia
predesad - Persia
Carthage - Portuga

the game will be called "Remus" to be recognizable and when you get the game.

Hi got the email Pertuga thanks :)

Yes no worries Ill set the game up here, but before I go ahead with this are there any preferences people want ie difficulty level etc. Ill check back in here in a few hours to see if there are any replies :)

My god, RoR games are getting real popular, it is the fifth one active !!!

Have a good time !

A hint Greybeard and Portuga probably know already. In the other PBEMs it was decided not to sign in AI before a certain time. But you do as you please.

I have no strong opinions one way or the other. Will go with what the rest feel comfortable with.

Clarify your comment Lou please, do you mean no alliances with the AI against a human player ? for an agreed time ?

Also we could agree a no conflict for X turns to give everyone time to get into the game :)

It was no human civ can sign an alliance with an AI against another human for a few turns (between 5 to ten, more if you want). That's because AI usually without sufficient troops (and with poor strategy) would just get slaughtered immediately.

This delay enables them to beef up their strength, trade a bit, etc... and to be less induced into an alliance (which is extremely easy on the first turn).

Sorry I am not a native English speaker and I am not always as clear as I think I am...

If you want more infos about that, the best person to ask is probably Rubberjello.

I should watch this one as the fact that there is little to report from Rome at this time may indicate that I'm not doing something right...

I'm fine with the stardard scenario. I don't mind playing with the default rules of the scenario, mostly because I don't have enough experience with the scenario in order to have a valid opinion.
But if someone else want some rule changed, I don't mind. I really just want to squash some legionaries with my elephants :)

About the no AI alliances on the initial turns, I agree. Greybeard probably knows why I agree :) He (Persia) turned the Scythes against me (Macedonia) in the other game we're playing :)

So I'm in favor of no AI alliances in the first 10 turns.

Yes I did. :) But only after I noticed on the Diplomacy Screen that you had an alliance with the Egyptians who I was at war with. ;)
The default rules for the scenario seems to produce a good game.

default rules are fine with me for the scenario, the 10 turn thing for an alliance is also fine. i would also suggest absolutely no trades with AI during first turn because i know at one time there was a bug in which the AI were willing to give you almost anything, very lopsided trades, in the first turn of the conquests because they didn't "know" anything about the world or something like that

I agree. No trading with AI on first turn.
No alliances with AI for first 10 turns.
Default rules.

i would also kind of prefer the victory point thing off, if only because i dont really have much experience with it and a total inexperience with this scenario means i am already handicapped

Yes, I'm guilty too :)

Okay then the first turn is away to greybeard :)

I have moved my units about but made no diplomacy actions to anyone this turn, I suggest we all do the same to make sure noone gets any unfair advantage, then from turn two onwards you can diplo away except for signing alliances with the AI against another Human player for the first 10 turns.

So thats not only no trading with AI on turn 1 thats no trading at all on turn 1!! in fact no diplomacy at all on turn 1!!!

If the AI speaks to you at the start of turn two refuse to parle until your turns movement phase begins after all the cycling etc has completed.

All that remains to be said is good luck everyone and long live the Emporer :)

First turn played and sent to predesad. :)
Chose which Tech to study. Set production in my cities. Planned my strategy and started to re- deploy my forces.
No contact made with anyone.
Sure is a lot to do on the first turn. :crazyeye:

Great stuff okay so turn two away to the Macedonians :)

Okay now to trade with the AI but remember no signing them into alliances against another human player until turn Ten has been completed !!
