In debt to Mr. Geisel
Rolling Stones - Prodigal Son
Well a poor boy took his father's bread and started down the road
Started down the road
Took all he had and started down the road
Going out in this world, where God only knows
And that'll be the way to get along
Well poor boy spent all he had, famine come in the land
Famine come in the land
Spent all he had and famine come in the land
Said, "I believe I'll go and hire me to some man"
And that'll be the way I'll get along
Well, man said, "I'll give you a job for to feed my swine
For to feed my swine
I'll give you a job for to feed my swine"
Boy stood there and hung his head and cried
`Cause that is no way to get along
Said, "I believe I'll ride, believe I'll go back home
Believe I'll go back home
Believe I'll ride, believe I'll go back home
Or down the road as far as I can go"
And that'll be the way to get along
Well, father said, "See my son coming home to me
Coming home to me"
Father ran and fell down on his knees
Said, "Sing and praise, Lord have mercy on me"
Mercy
Oh poor boy stood there, hung his head and cried
Hung his head and cried
Poor boy stood and hung his head and cried
Said, "Father will you look on me as a child?"
Yeah
Well father said, "Eldest son, kill the fatted calf,
Call the family round
Kill that calf and call the family round
My son was lost but now he is found
'Cause that's the way for us to get along"
obviously, a little bored at work today
We are Prodigal Son's, left our land and lives behind, to start anew, since we know best. We are tactless and broke (non-midas) in the beginning of this game until we meet the last civ, which, for this game, will be our Fatherland. Once we meet this civ, we can drop the non-midas trait. However, we must be tactless towards all other civ's and we must never declare war on the Fatherland civ. If the Fatherland civ declares on us, we must fight a strictly defensive war (cannot capture Fatherland cities). We reject all Fatherland flips as well.

Tactless: You may never initiate diplomacy. If the AI initiates diplomacy, you must either reject or accept their offer. No haggling. No entering F4 screen to peek either.
For this game, this goes for all other civ's except the civ we meet last, which will be our Fatherland. We may trade and initial diplomacy as normal with this civ. We may not establish embassy's with any civ's other than the Fatherland.
During wars, we cannot make the initial peace offer. however, once the AI makes the 1st attempt, we are free to initiate thereafter. also, being tactless, i expect us to take all we can once peace is offered (ie, negociate terms heavily in our favor). this will allow for pointy stick research.
during peace times, we cannot, at any time, initiate negociations, even just to "check" on other's advancements/income. the AI comes to us and we either accept or reject.
Non-Midas: You are never allowed to end your turn with much gold in your treasury 10 gold is the maximum allowed, but I won't be too much of a stickler. Just don't let it get over 15 or 20
Other general rules are that we do want our reputation to be intact (no deliberately spoiled deals, fake peace, etc.), no RoP rape, no scout resource denial, no ship chaining, generally no abusing the AI or game mechanics.
Note: I will allow resource disconnecting/reconnecting but without gold, it will be fairly useless early on.
Also, I request that players keep utilities that monitor diplomacy off. I'm not necessarily against them, but as tactless players, we should not be entering the diplomacy screen (F4) unless we want to talk to the Fatherland. Mapstat will reveal too much information. I have never used CivAssist, but if it does the same then that should be off too.
