*** GAME STARTED ***

Hi, this is the thread for the new WWII Pacific conquest PBEM aimed at newbies.

One experienced player would be a nice addition to help around.

The Gulf of Leyte (East of the Philippines) saw a major naval battle of the war.

It is for Conquests, using the MP version of the WWII Pacific scenario and the patch 1.22.
So you need to have both Conquests and the patch 1.22 installed on your computer.

When the rooster is full, I will send to all of you a planning e-mail with play order, e-mails, etc...

Organization : the game will be called Leyte to be recognizable and when you get the game, send a mail to inform the sender you got it (GPS = Got it, Played it, Sent it).

Special rules : no city razing or abndonning !

Oh me me!

I will take USA. :).

Please add on more people. It seems this is not yet full.

Provolution, have you noticed it is a scenario, not an epic ?

There are 5 civs to play and there are 5 players. Seems definitely full to me ! :p

I have got all e-mails (BTW Provolution, yours really end with a .no ????).

Waiting to get some civ preferences then I send the planning phase e-mail then I send you the file to start the game.

Have you ever started PBEs or should I include the "mini-guide" on how to start one ?

Just in case there's confusion, I'll take China as wiseman has the Dutch.

EDIT: OH wait, I see. I'll take what ever no one else wants, then. If it comes down to it, I'll pick the Dutch, but if someone has their heart set on them by all means give me China.

China is also a personal favourite of mine, but I'm happy with Dutch or whatever is left over.

Game On...

Wiseman signed a bit too late so he stands as replacement player in case but at the moment he has no civ.

Planning phase mail sent !

6 December 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy struck Pearl Harbor, and sunk one ship, as well as crippling several others and destroyed some 3 air squadrons. Honolulus population fell from 378 000 inhabitants to 150 000 inhabitants overnight due to extreme severe civilian casualties to Japanese air bombardment. However, valiant fighter pilots of Pearl Harbor shot down some 40-50 bombers in Japanese bomber squadron.

One week later, Apari fell to a sudden Japanese beach-landing, and the city was quickly overrun, where infantry and artillery continued southwards to shell Manila. A major landing was conducted on Manilas Western port, where the city soon feel to a well organized urban assault, supported by naval bombardment. When the dust settled, the only remaining US Land Force in the Philippines was a crippled Armor Division, down to 1/3 of the original strength after an artillery bombardment from Manila. Four destroyers were sunk in the port of Manila as the city fell.

Farther South, a landing force from Palau landed in Davao, taking out the city very quickly, and sending coastal artillery to shell the Cruiser “Houston”, and weakened “Houston” and Destroyer “Edsall” with further aerial bombing.

Guam was stormed by a task force of Japanese marines.

American presence in Asia has been all but utterly crushed.

December 1941, Japanese Armor overran Hong Kong in less than 2 days, and an extensive operation took place at the same time in the Malaccan Peninsula.

Bhuket was shelled by Japanese Artillery, and then stormed by a combined group of tanks and infantry. Further south, Japanese paratroopers landed all the way between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and Japanese infantry overcame the Indian Border Infantry, north of KL.

December 1941, Imperial Japan opened with a fierce offensive, sending out their notoriously powerful China Army backed by several infantry division and Light Armor (Chu Ha) and conquered Sian, which fell to an overwhelming attack force. The battle was so short, that defenses could hardly be considered fierce.

At the same time Foochow fell to a triangular envelopment maneuver, with artillery fire from the North, the Japanese Indochina Panzer Army from the West and a landing of a Marine Division from Formosa from the Southeast, Foochow fell swift to a well orchestrated military assault.

At the same time, Chinese border defenses was shelled down in the North by artillery and in the South by air bombardment, and followed up by fierce infantry Banzai assaults, opening the Chinese borders to future Japanese advances along the entire front, as fully seven divisions fell. In total, Japan lost two infantry divisions of men in the first month of the war.
