Problem
I had civIII and PTW. I bought the deluxe version with all three cos it was almost as cheep. When I installed C3C it did not install PTW cos its already there. So it still asks for PTW disk.
Solution
Semmingly in the US version you can copy the exe file and solve this. However, the UK version has the exe hidden in a cab file
Ok so you have to uninstall PTW first, before installing C3C and C3C will install PTW for you and it doesn't ask for the PTW disk.
Next Problem
If you do that you loose all of the scenarios that come with PTW and some extras.
Solution
1 Copy the contents of the scenarios and Extras folders from the PTW folder (default is C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\CIV3PTW ) to somewhere else.
2 Uninstall the expansion pack PTW.
3Install C3C that includes it. This will install PTW too.
4 Creat a shortcut from the start menu ( or the exe file) to the new PTW.
5Copy this to your desktop.
6Copy the contents of the old scenarios to the new folder.
7Copy the contents of the old extras folder to the new one. Medieval Japan existed in the new folder so I didn't copy that in case it had changed.
There you have it, You can play both from the same disk and you have all of the scenarios too.
It must be much simpler to be in the USA and copy one file.
If you have already installed the C3C version and lost the files you can install PTW to a temp folder and copy them over in the same way and uninstall PTW again. Guess which way I did it
Still I learned something that might help somebody else.
