This thread serves as a "History Thread" of each turnchat in the game. The DP of that turnchat will post a summary of the game, as well as game stats (optional).

Creation chat was held as scheduled, with approximately 10 citizens in attendance. It was pointed out that culturally linked starts were on in the 2nd page, and this was corrected. Note: the screenshot shows it as ON because it was taken before this setting was fixed The game was created without further incident.

Our starting position has 2 wines, 2 fish, 2 forest, and 2 bonus grass. We're standing on a coastal wine tile. See the turnchat thread for screenshots and further details.

Summary: 4000 BC, Monday 3/7/2005, 1500MST (GMT-7)

The capitol, Camelot, was founded in turn 2 (starting from 1) one tile SE of the starting position. Workers irrigated both wines and roaded one of them, while Camelot produced a Warrior and Curragh. For those without Conquests, a Curragh is a small, rowed boat which normally has 2 movement points. Our seafaring attribute (playing as England we are seafaring and commerical) gives all ships +1 movement, so the Curragh has 3 movement.

The warrior, named George W Bush, explored to the north where cattle were located, then he trekked across some grassland to another mountain to the west. This revealed even more cattle. He then headed north a ways to reveal the land in that direction. The end of the schedule 10 turns came, but insufficient information was revealed about the land surrounding the 2nd cattle, so play proceeded for 5 additional turns. Purple borders were discovered on turn 15, and President DaveShack handed off to the next in the CoC because he had to leave for a family gathering. Two turns later, contact was made with Ghandi of the Indians. Play stopped on turn 17, as the predefined conditions for stoppage (meeting another civ) were met.

In the queue we have another warrior, followed by a settler. The 1st curragh is mapping the coastline to the east of our starting position. Priorities are determining the 2nd city location, determining the direction of exploration that George should take, and future build queue beyond the settler. All officials are reminded to post full information about the in-game material pertaining to their office, or to make arrangements if they do not have the ability to open the save.

Summary: Sunday 3/13

The first four turns were rather uneventful, just moving our exploring units, though our exploring curragh spotted a goody hut on the Eastern coast. In turn 5, George (W Bush) found the Dutch, who have an impressive food market for their apparently 2nd city, with 3 (!!) wheat. In turn 6, our curragh located the Chinese, and play stopped to discuss trading options.

The Dutch have Bronze Working, Ceremonial Burial, 42g.
The Chinese have Bronze Working, Masonry, Warrior Code, and lack Alphabet.

Summary: Wednesday 3/16

We started off with some movement left and potential trades on the table. Trade instructions were to buy Ceremonial Burial from India, then see what is available. The preference would be to use Masonry as the middleman tech.

The actual trades turned out to be:
Bought CB from India for 108g
Sold CB+Alpha+2gpt to China for WC
Sold WC to India for BW+111g
Sold WC to Netherlands for 28g
We are now down just Masonry to China.

Not exactly what we were hoping for, but it is within the scope of the discussion that the commerce director based the instructions on.

Play continued for 3 turns. Our warrior George didn't see much of anything exciting, but the Curragh saw an unguarded Chinese settler about to snap up some gems on a mountain.

During the 3rd turn, our curragh met Persia who also have Masonry. There are two major strategies at this point, either buy masonry from whomever will sell it cheapest and then we'll know we have it when someone else has something to trade, or let it go in hopes it will be even cheaper. Not wanting to impinge upon the citizens right to discuss this (after getting castigated for not stopping and being liberal with instructions last term 1) play stopped in the middle of turn 3, with some movement left.

I fell behind a bit on this page. Sorry, I'll try to get it cleaned up so we have at least a historical record in summary form.

In the meantime, here is the most recent session, since it is the one which is most drastically needed.

Play started a little late after my computer hung up trying to open all the stuff I need to play a chat.

FINISH researching Philosophy. Take Map Making as our free tech. Following that, we have to stop, as I forgot that in C3C you can't use placeholders.
And @ my friendah da chekt: i know this isnt a discussion thread, but we've set the next settler for spot 4. After that, though, then we don't know where were going for OXFORD. (ps: I will fight for my city name next term. Just a heads up.)

Director of Expansion,
I have to apologize, I'm a little behind. I haven't had time to put together discussion and polling on the next settlement. Please end the chat after a settler and escort(if used) is built. This should be somewhere over nine turns, and shouldn't make the TC shorter than it would normally be.
<DaveShack> no problem, we'll end when Philosophy is learned anyway ;)

Director of Infrastructure:
Operation - Iron Glory
Turn 0 - Go to the iron tile by Donsignia.
Turn 1 - Build a road (3 turns).
Turn 4 - Build a road on the cattle by Donsignia.
Turn 5 - Join the worker from Roosting Tree with the workers on the cattle.
When the workers are done, move to the forest 1W, and chop it down. (this'll get the worker out a little quicker -- the city should be size two by then). Next, build a road. Have the other worker mine the bonus grassland 1SE of Bentley.

Office of Commerce
Given that the Governor has not left instructions for the use of a scientist, the use of the favored 80/20 slider rates should probably be used, though if population changes permit a more favorable rate, it may be changed, assuming that Philosophy research time is not lengthed.
Should Philosophy be finished, select Map Making as our next tech, pursuant to earlier polls on the subject. I request that, after Philosophy is done and we've recieved our reward (assuming it comes), that the turnchat be halted so we may examine further trading options.
Should we be met with a foreign demand at some point for either tech or gold, it will probably be in our best interest to give in to the demand. However, if the civilization making the demand is geographically located far away with no troops visible in our area, or if we are stronger militarily according to the in-game advisors by some miracle, seriously consider not giving in. These are the only guidelines I can lay out - the DP should consider these when making the decision.
that's the end of instructions...

Discussion on trade (edited a little)
<TimBentley> interesting, Netherlands wants mysticism and over 100g for math
<TimBentley> India will give math and 2g for mysticism
<DaveShack> trade summary is here http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads9/DG6_BC1450_tradeopp.jpg
<TimBentley> we could probably get horseback riding with math
<LeeT911> India trade sounds good.
<DaveShack> the incoming C Ext. wants to build chariots and upgrade
<LeeT911> Ok, so what do we do then?
<LeeT911> Stop here?
<DaveShack> no instructions regarding trades
<DaveShack> we need to get value out of mysticism, or lose the advantage... and don't want to give something more expensive for math
<DaveShack> so I'll do the India and Netherlands trades so they don't get it from China
we give Mysticism, India gives Math, 2g
we give Mysticism, Netherlands gives 17g

Stop for discussion of Byzantine war (and it was too late/early for me anyways)

The start of a new term and the continuation of our conquest of part of the continent for territory. But things did not go as well as hoped.

In total we lost 4 cities and built 1. 2 were lost to flips, one capture and 1 gifted. We razed Arnhem and built on the Iron/Wheat site.

90 BC

The first turn in particular took a long time, mainly just to find everything - lots of units to move, and my first time to find them all.

Utrecht and Holwerd became Halls of Mandos and Striders Haven

DG6_BC0090_TC01.jpg

Our troops were located, but many had already moved this turn. All the workers had also moved.

Over There was switched to a Warrior which would be built next turn - it was 7 turns for a Spear and the city would be gone by then, but a Warrior gave us the benefit of some of those shields before the city was gifted to the Indians.

To stir the pot and help us against the Byzantines we formed a few alliances:

Maya,
DG6_BC0090_TC02.jpg

China (they were at war with Byzantines already so no addional declaration),
DG6_BC0090_TC03.jpg

Portugal,
DG6_BC0090_TC04.jpg

Hittites,
DG6_BC0090_TC05.jpg

and finally Japan.
DG6_BC0090_TC06.jpg

Theodora was not best pleased with the result.
DG6_BC0090_TC07.jpg

We ended the turn with 638 gold (+55 gold per turn), 10.0.0, Engineering in 26.

The IBT allowed to Dutch to counterattack - 1 Sword killed our exposed Sword N of Skye, and an Archer from Breda approached Ela Springs. The Persian Galley ran away. There was only one other event of note.
DG6_BC0090_TC08.jpg

Continued in next post....

70 BC - Turn 1

Our Forces disposed of the Dutch invaders from the IBT for no loss.

DG6_BC0070_TC01.jpg

Over there had seen Hittite troop movements, but no Byzantines, so as it had produced its Warrior and gave us our Scientist it was set to Wealth and we kept it for another turn.

DG6_BC0070_TC02.jpg

Our troops continued to gather, more being renamed to have the unit type Prefix. The 2 Warriors in Over There were named Crusader Knight and Butchers.

We ended the turn on 693 gold (+57 gold per turn), 10.0.0, Engineering in 25.

the IBT was quiet with only one event.
DG6_BC0070_TC03.jpg

50 BC - Turn 2

No Dutch forces had attacked on the IBT, although a couple of Spears were visible. Our forces continue to gather.

DG6_BC0050_TC01.jpg

And by the end of the turn they are waiting, blocking the road for a trespassing Indian Worker, and ready to move into Dutch territory next turn.

DG6_BC0050_TC02.jpg

After many years of planning we found a city on the Iron/Wheat site in the centre of our continent.

DG6_BC0050_TC03.jpg

Then it's time for Over There. Still no sign of Byzantines, but it would be annoying to have it flip before we could gift it.

DG6_BC0050_TC04.jpg

DG6_BC0050_TC05.jpg

DG6_BC0050_TC06.jpg

We finish the turn with 750 gold (+57gpt), 10.0.0, Engineering in 24.

the IBT was a rush of building, and a Dutch Galley continued allong our South coast S of Camelot.

DG6_BC0050_TC07.jpg

Continued in next post....

30 BC - Turn 3

The Dutch Galley had now passed Camelot, some troops from our core defence force followed, while others stayed to protect Sir Isaac.

DG6_BC0030_TC01.jpg

Meanwhile, our MAF troops gathered, short one Elite sword from Skye that was still healing there.

DG6_BC0030_TC02.jpg

and stepped into Dutch territory.

DG6_BC0030_TC03.jpg

We ended the turn with 807 gold (+59 gold per turn), 10.0.0, Engineering in 23.

It was not a good IBT. A Dutch Archer defeated our Sword protecting the Workers and patrolling our westerly borders near Ela Springs, capturing 3 of our Workers. A Spear appeared out of the fog from Breda and advanced to one tile of Auchtermuchty. Then this happened:

DG6_BC0030_TC04.jpg

10 BC - Turn 4

DG6_BC0010_TC02.jpg

The Archer we can deal with and we recapture our workers and take them to safety in the forest by Ela Springs. But we can't stop the Spear.

DG6_BC0010_TC01.jpg

In the North our troops move up to Arnhem and the MAF reserves start to assemble.

DG6_BC0010_TC03.jpg

We end the turn with 866 gold (+59 gold per turn), 10.0.0, Engineering in 22

IBT and the inevitable happens:

[00:37] <Furiey> 4/4 Sword v 3/3 Spear
[00:38] <RikMeleet> I can; it's a 15 minute drive by car ;)

[00:38] <RikMeleet> No really, it is
[00:38] <DoubleX> and 2000 years back
[00:38] <Furiey> dies redlining the spear which promotes
[00:39] <Furiey> another 3/3 Spear on top, there's an anrcher in there too
[00:39] <Furiey> another 3/3 spear dies without scratching the Spear
[00:39] <Chieftess> spear vs spear?
[00:40] <Furiey> sorry 4/4 Sword dies without scratching the 3/3 Spear
[00:40] <Furiey> going to try the Elites
[00:40] <Furiey> 5/5 elite now 2/5 but defeats the 3/3 spear
[00:41] <Furiey> another 5/5 defeats another 3/3 spear now 3/5
[00:41] <zyxy> yeah!
[00:41] <Furiey> 4/4 Sword dies promoting 2/4 Spear to Elite
[00:42] <Furiey> another 4/4 Sword dies redlining the 3/5 spear
[00:42] <Chieftess> wow...
[00:42] <Chieftess> tough battle...
[00:42] <zyxy> that's not good....
[00:42] <zyxy> we might loose this...
[00:42] <DoubleX> wow, those monkies are good
[00:42] <Furiey> 4/4 Sword manages to defeat a 3/3 Archer (just)
[00:43] * MB-away is now known as Mad-Bax
[00:43] <zyxy> you have bad luck Furiey
[00:43] <Furiey> 4/4 Sword defeats 1/5 Spear
[00:43] <zyxy> phwew...
[00:43] <Furiey> and we raze Arnhem!

[00:44] <zyxy> with 1 unused sword left right?
[00:44] <RikMeleet> oh... in-game arnhem ... :(
[00:44] <Chieftess> I never thought I'd see Rik cheering the razing of a Dutch city. :)
[00:44] <Mad-Bax> At least we won't need Feudalism for unit support
[00:44] <Mad-Bax> PSV were unlucky tonight
[00:44] <Furiey> no - we were short 1 Sword remember
[00:44] <RikMeleet> PSV was indeed unlucky
[00:45] <zyxy> right, so just the horse left? that's close
[00:45] <Chieftess> That might've been the Dutch's Last Stand right there..
[00:45] <Mad-Bax> Amsterdam is full of vets
[00:45] <zyxy> they'll have more in amsterdam, i fear

We raze Arnhem.

We end the turn with 915 gold (+57gpt), 10.0.0, Engineering in 21

IBT: We finally quell the resistors in Halls of Mandor, and the Dutch keep themselves occupied for a few books...

DG6_AD0010_TC02.jpg

Then there is news from the Tech front - Fuedalism is out there!

DG6_AD0010_TC03.jpg

We end the turn with 915 gold (+57 gold per turn), 10.0.0, Engineering in 21.

30 AD- Turn 6

A turn of rest and healing for our MAF troops. Reinforcements have arrived, but after Arnhem we know we'll need them all in full health.

We end the turn with 972 gold (+64 gold per turn), 10.0.0, Engineering in 20.

It had been a quiet turn, too quiet obviously as in the IBT this happened:

DG6_AD0030_TC01.jpg

50 AD - Turn 7

And with that we stopped with movement remaining. Our plan against the Dutch needed revising, we need more troops!

We lost a Spear and Warrior in the flip - George W Bush defected to the Dutch!

We have 1 Settler moving to replace Arnhem, and another currently in Chaos for Amsterdam

1036 Gold (+59 gpt), 10.0.0, Engineering in 19

DG6_AD0050_TC01.jpg

A more productive turnset than last time, in total we gained 5 new cities and razed Amsterdam. We have only one more core Dutch city to recapture plus the two that we lost last time. The Dutch now have Fuedalism. We are also at War with France after they sneak attacked us.

50 AD - Turn 0

The first task was build queues, and thanks go to our citizens (Fanatannian and Dutch) in New London, Halls of Mandos and Ela Springs who lost their lives in industrial accidents to complete a Library and then 2 Temples in their respective towns.

Our workers work to improve our lands and our troops gather and heal, and the warrior in Provolutia was retrained as a Sword for 60 gold.

We injure a Dutch archer N of Halls of Mandos with our Cats, while our troops are gathering for Amsterdam.

An opportunity by Breda is spotted and a Horseman and Spearman (for protection) move in to pillage the only road to/from Breda and slow the progress of the Dutch Archers in reaching our lands.

DG6_AD0050_TC201.jpg

We end the turn with 976 gold, +54gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 19.

IBT

DG6_AD0050_TC202.jpg

A Dutch Archer approaches Breda from Auchtamutchty, another attacks the Spear protecting the pillaging Horse redlining it.

The injured Dutch Archer ran away, a Dutch Spear appeared on a mountain near the Striders Haven horses and a French Warrior on an adjacent mountain.

A Dutch Galley appears by Bentley.

DG6_AD0050_TC203.jpg

Turn 1 – 70 AD

We block the Dutch Spear from approaching the mountain E of Halls of Mandos with a Spear, but otherwise we have to wait there.

Our Attack force gathers and heals in a large stack E of Amsterdam, and a smaller one to the S. Our pillaging horse and Spear retreat to our own lands near Skye for Safety.

DG6_AD0070_TC01.jpg

We end the turn with 1030 gold, +54gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 18.

DG6_AD0070_TC04.jpg

Turn 2 – 90 AD

Our main sword stacks continue to heal and gather.

We kill the Spear on the Striders Haven horses with a Sword, then fortify a Warrior and Sword on Bentley’s Iron and wait for the attack.

DG6_AD0070_TC05.jpg

We end the turn with 1082 gold, +52gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 17.

More Dutch Archers are threatening Skye, but we cannot be distracted, our forces are ready for Amsterdam.

DG6_AD0110_TC01.jpg

We ask Joan to move her fortified Warrior

DG6_AD0110_TC02.jpg

We move the troops in and end the turn on 1134 gold, +52gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 16.

IBT: Xerxes speaks, we listen but with our alliances still running we do not accept his kind offer.

DG6_AD0110_TC03.jpg

Some Dromons appear from the Northern fog and another Sword is dropped by Bentley.

DG6_AD0110_TC04.jpg

French go South and the Halls of Mandos riots :(

DG6_AD0110_TC05.jpg

Turn 4 – 130 AD

We rush a Settler in Husborne Crawley and move our Troops to Amsterdam

DG6_AD0130_TC01.jpg

Turn 5 – 150 AD

For the loss of 2 Swords against only 4 spears and an Archer, Ringo the Drummer finally captures Amsterdam and we gain 4 new Slaves.

DG6_AD0150_TC01.jpg

DG6_AD0150_TC02.jpg

The Horse S of Chaos deals with the intruding Dutch Archer, and we watch the French Warrior which has again fortified.

DG6_AD0150_TC03.jpg

We defeat the Sword

DG6_AD0150_TC04.jpg

We end the turn with 1267 gold, +53gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 14.

IBT:

DG6_AD0050_TC202.jpg

DG6_AD0150_TC05.jpg

Turn 6 – 170 AD

DG6_AD0170_TC01.jpg

The French warrior has moved South, perhaps the horse should have gone to the mountain.....

DG6_AD0170_TC02.jpg

We end the turn with 1321 gold, +54gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 13.

IBT:

DG6_AD0170_TC03.jpg

Turn 7 – 190 AD

On the Eastern front our troops move in, in the West we defeat the French Warrior, but cannot defeat the Dutch Spear

DG6_AD0190_TC02.jpg

DG6_AD0190_TC01.jpg

DG6_AD0210_TC01.jpg

DG6_AD0210_TC02.jpg

But there's nothing we can do about the Spear on the Horses near Strider's Haven - they're going to get pillaged.

DG6_AD0210_TC05.jpg

The turn ends with 1428 gold, +57gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 11

IBT: We'll look Smoke Jaguar, but to take a deal like that we'll need to discuss it in the Forum.

DG6_AD0210_TC03.jpg

DG6_AD0210_TC04.jpg

DG6_AD0050_TC202.jpg

Turn 8 – 210 AD

As expected our Horses got pillaged and a now another Spear is on the Incense.

DG6_AD0230_TC02.jpg

But finally some good news:
DG6_AD0230_TC01.jpg

Our 20 turn Peace with the Indians has now expired, so have some of our Alliances, but there are more out there if we decide we want them. The troops not used to take Eindhoven (which has 3 resistors and needs renaming as Falls Church) have not moved.

We stop with 1485 gold, +60gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 10.

We made good progress against the Dutch, so good that we captured the cities we wanted on turn 4!

Turn 0 – 230 AD

Workers and build queues are set, with no instructions for Middle Earth province, builds are carried on as before although a Library is started in Bentley.

Eindhoven gets its new name

DG6_AD0230_TC301.jpg

We attack the Spear on our Incense and our horse loses, but the Spear is injured so it should retreat to heal

Start gathering the attack force, using some who would otherwise be waiting to block key roads to Strider and protect cities from Indian Archers just in case they decide to declare by walking into a city

DG6_AD0230_TC302.jpg

Time to pay Joan back for her declaration last turnset – the result is quite pretty

DG6_AD0230_TC303.jpg

After all that journey the Byzantines drop a lone Regular Warrior by Bentley

DG6_AD0260_TC03.jpg

DG6_AD0260_TC04.jpg

Our troops move closer to Bangalore and Auchtemuchty

DG6_AD0260_TC12.jpg

One Dutch and two Fanatannian citizens lose their lives in Skye to build a Temple
