Turnchat Summary Thread

Persia has 2 Workers for Peace – probably the best we’ll get

Indians have built some culture in Karachi

We end the turn with 1709 gold, +64gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 8.

IBT: Alliances are formed, buildings are completed, but we refuse Spain’s kind offer.

The Byzantine Warrior doesn’t attack but goes N to try for some unprotected workers – he’ll be lucky we’ll get him first! The healed Dutch Spear by Strider returns to the Incense.

Turn 3 – 270 AD

We pick off the Byzantine Warrior and Dutch Spear and move our troops towards Auchtermuchty and Middelburg.

The Maya have Engineering!

Some Dutch and Fanatannian citizens lose their lives building a Temple in Chaos and more Dutch die getting 20 turns from a Temple in Falls Church – risky business this construction work!

Our Workers move to start on the wines near Oxford.

Sir Issac moves to Oxford – he can be in Regentham (where another citizen dies to complete a courthouse) next turn.

Our troops move in to Middleburg, a Northern Attack Force latecomer and a Spear from Mandos block the Dutch Spears and keep them penned.

Our Swords and Spear move into Auchtermuchty, the Horses wait in Ela Springs – they can attack from there (yes – I did let Nijmegen riot when the troops moved out :( ).

We end the turn on 1773 gold, +61gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 7.

IBT: We don’t accept Mao’s offer.

Turn 4 – 280 AD
We attack Auchtermuchty
Our first attacker (Vet Sword) fails as he is wounded by an Archer then falls to a 3/3 spear without scratching it.
The next Vet Sword defeats the Spear
The Horses attack. One retreats, one wins, the next attacks a galley to defeat the Archer hiding underneath, and we liberate Auchtermuchty from the Dutch!

We attack Middelburg
Our Vet Sword fails, but the next defeats the Spear, as does the Elite that follows and captures Middelburg. We gain 2 Workers who had run to the city for safety in the IBT.

Two cities for the loss of 2 Swords.

We pick off the Archer and Spears to improve our negotiation position and see what the Dutch will give for Peace. They will nearly give Fuedalism and Monotheism, the chat is stopped to discuss all the options – do we pay a bit to get Monotheism as part of the deal or take Republic instead?

We stop with 1843 gold, +62gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 6.

A momentous set of turns, we made Peace with the Dutch, got Fuedalism, Monotheism, Monarchy and Republic and researched Engineering as planned. We rushed Sun Tzu on turn 0, then revolted, becoming a Republic on turn 5. Declared War on the Indians who are now down to 2 cities.

Turn 0 – 280 AD

Some admin tasks then on with what we’ve been waiting for, Peace with the Dutch and all that entails.

Subsequent trades only netted one more deal than planned, athough Chivalry is available as a monopoly.

Time for a revolution!

MMing the cities gives us some additional gpt and we end the turn with 2003 gold, +14gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 6.

Turn 1 – 290 AD

A large force of Indians is spotted by Bengal and we continue to shadow the Indian Archers moving through our territory

We sell Barracks in Camelot, New London, donsignia, Roosting Tree, Bentley and Provolutia and found a new city.

Our Stack is ready for Bangalore, unfortunately those for other cities are not.

We end the turn with 2077 gold, +14 gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 5.

Turn 2 – 300 AD

We continue shadowing the Indian Archers

The upgrade wasn’t quite as planned. Two Swords were intended to be upgraded and two other Veteran would not have healed in time had they moved from their city. Unfortunately one of the ones intended to be upgraded was not – it had used all it’s movement points getting to the city, was therefore excluded from the upgrade and had to be upgraded the following turn. The 4th Sword actually upgraded here was the Regular in Bentley that was missed at the time.

We are ready for Kolhapur (The stack of Indians have moved into Bengal)

We end the turn with 2011 gold, +27 gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 4.

Continued in next post....

IBT: Yes that’s a French Galley approaching our shores

Turn 3 – 310 AD

Upgrade the missed Sword from last turn and move a Horse shadowing the Indian Archer and a Spear form blocking duty closer to Rivendell just in case the French drop any troops

Our forces are ready for Karachi, but the upgraded Medieval Infantry still have to join the forces for Hyderabad

We end the turn with 2008 gold, +27gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 3.

IBT: The French drop off an Archer by Rivendell

Turn 4 – 320 AD

Pick it off with one of the Horsemen shadowing the Indian Archers.

Then realise I had misinterpreted the military instructions and should have declared war on turn 2 rather than wait until we could hit all the cities simultaneously. Ooops. We give Ghandi the belated news.

Our Bangalore attack force moves into Indian territory towards Bangalore, it’ll be 2 turns before they can attack, The Delhi group are still gathering, next turn for them, the Hyderabad group can move in this turn and attack next. But we can attack Kolhapur immediately. Our Medieval Infantry takes the Workers blocking the way and our Horsemen defeat the 2 defenders for no loss, the remaining Horse defeating the Archer in the forest outside the city.

The Byzantines have discovered Theology.

We end the turn with 2035 gold, +33gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 2.

Continued in next post....

Turn 5 – 330 AD

We defeat the last Indian Archer, then attack Delhi. One Medieval Infantry, 1 Horseman and Delhi is ours again. The 4 unused Horses move on to Karachi.

Our forces move in to attack Bangalore and Hyderabad next turn while our lookout near Bengal watches Indian troops reappear and a Chinese Worker starting to road the Gems..

We end the turn with 2068 gold, +102gpt, 10.0.0, Engineering in 1.

Turn 7 – 350 AD

We start to build our forces for Jaipur near Striders Haven and move our Horses on to Karachi.

We re-examine our research rate – 100% science will mean a deficit of -51gpt, but Invention will only take 8 turns making a total of under 480gold, with over 2217 gold we can afford that and have sufficient to upgrade the horses to knights. We up our research and end the turn with 2217 gold, -51gpt, 0.10.0 (Tax, Science, Lux), Invention in 8.

IBT:

Turn 8 – 360 AD

We attack Karachi, lose 2 Horses and another retreats, but with our last Horse we defeat the 3rd and final defending Spear

No longer do we have foreign cities behind our lines

Our troops move toward Jaipur and the returning Indian forces.

We end the turn with 2200 gold, -54 gpt, 0.10.0, Invention in 7.

IBT: A French Archer Appears and Indian forces head back to Bengal with the exception of a lone Spearman on a pillaging mission.

Continued in next post....

Turn 9 – 370 AD

We lose a Horseman injuring the pillaging Spear and move our troops towards Marseille and Jaipur.

We end the turn with 2146 gold, -55gpt, 0.10.0, Invention in 6.

IBT: Indian forces head in our direction again

Turn 10 – 380 AD

We move our main stack, along with a Settler, on to Jaipur – just another 2 turns…. The group to Marseille however is badly depleted and it is a small force that is moving forward. This group will need to gather reinforcements to be sure of a successful attack.

We end the session with 2091 gold, -50gpt, 0.10.0, Invention in 5.

This set of turns was extended to 12 in total so that we could complete research on Gunpowder, eliminate the Indians and capture the second French city. We also got a Great Leader Edward in the capture of Avignon on the final turn.

Turn 0 – 380 AD

The movements on the units were completed last session so only build queues to do resulting in a short pre-turn. We spend some gold short-rushing some Libraries in Sebadoh and Blather and the Market in Camelot, so that we ended the turn with 1623 gold, -50 gpt, 0.10.0 (Tax.Science.Lux), Invention in 5.

IBT:A large force of Indians come from Bengal and Jaipur towards our stack.

Turn 1 – 390 AD

We can’t let the stack get past our forces and into our core – we have to attack it and delay our assault on Jaipur. We lose a Veteran Med Inf attacking the main stack and defeat 2 Spears and a Warrior with Horses and Swords, but then I mis-click and attack the units to the North instead of the exposed Archers and lose another Horse, before the final Elite Horse retreats from one of the Archers. A rethink is required, our units are injured and we have a Settler in the stack. We found Lem and move back our lookout Spear – there are enough troops now that the Indians won’t be able to take the city and as we get free Barracks our troops will heal.

We have Dutch Intruders, but they are at War with Persia and should just carry on through…

We end the turn with 1573 gold, -48 gpt, 10.0.0, Invention in 4.

IBT: The Dutch Galley continues West, the Archer heads for Persia and….

Continued in next post....

Turn 2 – 400 AD

Lem has survived although our troops are wounded. Our counter attack removes the remaining Archers leaving a couple of Spears to be dealt with.

Meanwhile, our forces move next to Marseille

We end the turn with 1527 gold, +7 gpt, 3.7.0, Invention in 3.

IBT: Ghandhi has an offer for us – out of interest we see what else he’ll give.

Continued in next post....

Turn 3 – 410 AD
We clear up most of the Indian forces and our troops start re-grouping in Lem.

We attack Marseille and raze the city gaining 4 Workers.

We end the turn with 1534 gold, +14gpt, 3.7.0, Invention in 2.

IBT:

Continued in next post....

Turn 6 – 440 AD

Lem is now connected to our roads so we delay the attack on Jaipur for a few upgrades

We end the turn with 831 gold, +1gpt, 0.10.0, Gunpowder in 6.

IBT: We Love the The Great day breaks out as our new Dyes are connected. Two Spanish Archers appear by Blacktopia and an Indian Archer dies on a Knight in Lem.

Turn 7 – 450 AD

And the prize for AI stupidity goes to Xerxes for researching Education when they have the Great Library! At Monopoly prices we’re certainly not going to buy it.

Time for Jaipur, still at size 1, but we have a Settler ready to replace it. It takes only 2 new Knights and we destroy Jaipur without loss.

We prepare to build a new city 2SE of the old site.

We end the turn with 714 gold, +1gpt, 0.10.0 (Tax, Science, Lux), Gunpowder in 5.

IBT:

Continued in next post....

Turn 8 – 460 AD

We build a Classicity to replace Jaipur and make Peace with Japan.

We end the turn with 729 gold, +3 gpt, 0.10.0, Gunpowder in 4.

IBT:

Turn 9 – 470 AD

The Indian stack has moved off the mountain and falls to our Knights and Elite Horses.

We end the turn with 732 gold, +24gpt, 1.9.0, Invention in 3.

IBT:

Continued in next post....

Turn 10 – 480 AD

We move our troops towards Bengal and Avignon

With only 2 turns to complete Gunpowder and the potential capture of both Bengal and Avignon on the same turn, we continue and end the turn with 756 gold, +53gpt, 2.8.0, Gunpowder in 2.

IBT:

Turn 11 – 490 AD

We move in towards Bengal

We found Dun Eideann

and clear up the French troops (in the process capturing 2 Dutch Workers the French captured last turn) ready to attack Avignon next turn.

We end the turn with 809 gold, +55gpt, 2.8.0, Gunpowder in 1.

IBT:

Turn 12 – 500 AD

We have 1 source of Saltpetre connected and 2 more on roads that our cities will expand over.

We destroy Bengal and the Indians and block the route across the mountains

Then we take Avignon, our Elite Swords attack and Steven’s Swordsman gets the Great Leader Edward. A fitting end to the session.

We end the session with 871 gold, -1gpt, 0.10.0, Chemistry in 8.
