CapNES2: The New Shuffle

President Benjamin Harrison sighed as he looked out the office window at the city of Richmond beyond. On a clear day like this he could just picture in his mind's eye the former capitol of Washington D.C.

He was supposed to be there, sitting in the Oval Office where Washington and Jefferson had sat. He was supposed to be running more than just a handful of aggrarian states! Those traitors. As he thought about it they were double-traitors. Flip-floppers. He hated nothing more than indecisiveness. He gripped the glass of scotch in his hand and took a sip before walking back to his desk. He needed to be open-minded for this meeting - relaxed. He had barely taken his seat when there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," he stated, and through the opened door came the Secretaries of War and State, along with some of the top brass. They settled down and began their discussions, first on internal matters, then on international ones. Two formal letters were set in motion to be drafted up and sent out to other governments, and many more to departments and companies.

It was time to rebuild.

Orders Sent.

In light of the propserous trade between our two nations, and our mutual ambitions to limit European influence in the Western hemisphere, we would like to propose an indefinite extension of the Non-Aggression Pact between our two nations. The people of our two countries are not so different and we of the American government believe that this should be reflected in our international relationship.

From: United States of America

We are interested in strengthening our cross-Atlantic trade ties. A delegation of diplomats should be arriving in Paris within the week to discuss potential deals that would benefit both our nations. We formally request they be given access to the appropriate authorities upon arrival.

You are the only one close enough to Poland to make a difference. Persia would like to know whether you still honour the alliance.

We whole heartedly agree to this proposal.

A mini-game?

Adrien took a deep puff of his cigarette as he walked with momentum down the steep Quebec City street. At his right and left were two men. On the right was Emmett O'Doherty a man who had come to Canada during the potato famine in Ireland. The English forced him from one part of the world and as he came to another the english again forced him and his parents to stay at Grosse-Île, the infamous island on the St. Lawrence where the English made the Irish stay for months as quarantine agains cholera, many of the malnurished, neglected Irish died including Emmett's parents. He lived most of his life in lower Quebec, the piss-smelling area of the city where the English banished the Irish and some other Catholic peoples. He had joined the PLQ as a way to avenge his parents and kin of Eire. On Adrien's left was Pierre La Guois, a metis man who was forced off his land in the praries and forced to be relocated to a Protestant family in Ontario as a boy, he had fled and was chased to Quebec where he lived as a poor man in the streets until he was accepted by the Parti. Both men carried rifles and all three were united in the expulsion of the English oppressors.

In the windows of the tight, stone houses of city women and children flew the colours of Quebec and cheered to the three men. They turned a corner and struggled up a steep cobbled hill. Out of the doors came three more men, rifles in hand, revolvers slung throughout themselves to join the march. The band kept it up, slowly trudging along silently. Children stopped playing ball and stood at the end, holding their heads high as they climbed up the last hill toward the parliament building.

And there, standing defiantly at the last rise of the hill stood a man. His cocked hat stood out, silhoueted by the sun, in his hand was the flag of Quebec with three smaller flags hanging of the pole. The first was the Irish tri-colour, banned by the british it still flew among the Quebecois. The second was the Italian flag, the heavey italian population made up a major part of the PLQ and of all Quebec. The third was the Metis flag, the green feild with the sign of infinity. This flag-bearer too, joined the march.

The marchers, now tens strong reached the Parliamant building at 4.32 P.M on October the Fourth eighteen hundred and ninety. The doors were swung open. At the desk imediatley within the stone building sat a lanky man with a long moustache, he stood and seeing the great banner flutter in the breeze going through the structure, emediately became trasnfixed and sat back down. Up the stairs they went, now they were excited. Whoops and yells eminated from the group as they ran up the old oak stairs. The last door came open.

"Who are you? Now see here!" the anglo dignitary from ottawa prottested. Adrien pulled a revolver off his friend and pointed it at the man's head. The ottawa man's fat mouth opened and sweat dripped from his brow.

"Let us pass" Adrien said in broken english. The politician nodded and stepped out of the way. Emmett spat at the man and cursed him in Gaelic as he passed.

They could not find a way to the roof, save the windows. With the butts of their rifles they smashed the old glass open and climbed along the thin passes. Most of these men had all been poor down trodded dregs of society and were not new to roof climbing. They scrambled up to the very mount and stopped to catch their breathes.

"There it is!" exclaimed one of the small boys as he pointed off into the sun. Adrien squinted and raised a hand to see. There they flew. A Canadian flag* and a Union Jack sneering in the face of old Quebec. The man with the great colours ripped the god-awful flags from their poles and in its place flew the awe-inspiring banner of the Quebecois peoples. There was silence, then the entire group and the crowd that gathered under them erupted in cheers. The men stood there, triumphant, like a perfect picture. Democratic path or not, the people of Quebec would not wait much longer...

The United States finds the lack of action by the Grand Coalition toward the invasion of Poland to be morally reprehensible. That none of the charter nations of that organization have even announced a pledge of aide to their fellow member makes this truly a sad day for democracy. The people of the United States express solidarity with the recently liberated people of Poland and urge those nations pledged to her defense to act upon their word.

Just because we don't blare in the HRE's ear that we are going to fight them doesn't mean we aren't.

OOC: You think I have spies in the Hungarian government that tell me that you're asking to go through their country to attack? :p I'm a lowly little regional power. :mischief:

A word to the world--Anyone found supporting the Ethiopian terrorists will be shot. Survivors will be shot again.

What if someone survives the second shooting?

Prosecution in an international criminal court. If they find them innocent, then we kidnap them, force them to walk the plank of a naval ship, shoot them off the boat with their hands tied and feet chained to large iron balls with a bit of bloody meat tossed in beforehand to attract sharks to the region.

Reading your story Communisto, is this a religious Movement or a political one?

well, kinda both. see the canadian and british governmens greatly restricted catholocism in Quebec and it played a major faction in the rebellions of the patriots in the 1860s, in this sense it's religious. Also, the swift and injust denial of the Canadian government to give Quebec seats in parliamant when asked makes it impossible to have a democratic resolution, making it political. plus, the relocation of Irish to nazi-esque ghettos doesn't help your situation either.
