ENES: World of Magic II

And unoriginal, but since that seems to be your style,

WHAT?!?!? I hope that was sarcastic.

And I know that zombies are a cliche. But I thought that it would be fun to rule them in a NES.

Zeus Frowned as he walked through the carnage of the battle. To is left, his mighty Titians and humble preist clashed witht eh chanters and sprites of the black Fae. to his right, the two armys met. and yet, the battle raged on, as it had been for days upon end. a few lost their life here and there, but for the most part, both sides survived. for over two years these Great clashes had been going on, and while almost always the Olympians had come out on top, the Black Fae always seemed to get off lightly, their wounded restoered within a matter of days to fight again.

And it was all Ares fault. needless to say, Zeus was in a bad mood. and when he spoted Ares resting in a plastic Lounge chair in the middle of the battlefeild, he promptly unleashed his rage upon the not so helpless Ares.

*KA-ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPP*
[12 belief gained]

"WHAT THE @#$@ do you think you are doing ARES!!!"

"URK! umm Zeus, baby.. this ain't what it looks like..."

"Oh, it is DEFENTLY what it looks like. your playing with them. I told you to defeat them soundly in one dicisive battle. and yet, you keep letting them get away. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ARES. We are going back to the Tower, and from there, we shall deal with this together. DO MI MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!"

"YES SIR Zeus SIR!!"

"good." witha simple wave of his hand, Zeus flung ares behind him, causing him to sail of into the distant sky. calmly reaching out and grabing a nearby officer who had been atending Ares, he quickly gave a brisk order for the olympians to fall back. a change of tactic was in order. then he vanished.

For the record, the spelling is "Zeus".

Great story, though. Loved the bit about the plastic lounge chair. :D

@Erik: Damnit! I thought I'd make it one update without goofing :P

@Iggy: Let's just say he was an independent entrepreneur.

Well, Nekros, Lord of Death is not the most brilliant naming I've ever witnessed. :mischief: And you can't rule zombies, little more than you can rule machines. You just control them. :p

Not too shabby with orders, I see. Maybe you should send a reminder PM to emu and T.G.I.L.? Will the update be finished around noon tomorrow?

The point is that he was the original necromancer, and necromancy is named after HIM. And yes, I know that I only control the zombies, not rule them. But Lord of Death sounds better than Zombie Controller or Puppet Master.

Relax, I'm just pushing yer buttons. And yes, Zombie Controller or Puppet Master (or even Master of Puppets!) is far worse than Lord of Death! :D

Thank you.

And that's one of my flaws. I take button pushing FAR too seriously. :p

Don't mention it. I'll push your buttons free of charge anytime. :p I'm really happy to see you join this NES, and not only because I suggested it. Kudos, Iggy! :D

Today, at least. I'm doing a spotlight, and some people liked sending in long orders at the last moment.

Year 171 A.R.

The Hordes of Nekros begin rampaging south and east. They begin overrunning Bersia, whose leaders have been incompetently mismanaging the country and leaving it to ruin.
(-Bersian army, -20 000 Bersian population, -lots of Bersian rebels, -2300 Undead troops, +13 000 corpses)
A lich has taken some of the hordes eastwards, but has encountered trouble crossing the great waters.
Meanwhile the rebels from the Cammane City-States have begun to set up their own government. As the undead start appearing in their far northern frontiers, they find a simple common enemy to unify against, giving them enough purpose to continue with their mission.

Further south, the House of Leonhard finds itself with more than enough on its plate. Their invasion of the CCS continues apace, and the rebels are being crushed, but then the Church proceeds to open a third front in the south!
Forces:
Northwest: (Leonhard) 1000 Infantry, 300 Wurm Riders, 15 Beholders, 15 Darkmages | (CCS) 1000 infantry, 1200 militia
South: (Leonhard) mostly militia and reserve forces | (Church) 2000 infantry, 10 Bishops and 15 Holy Knights
East: (Leonhard) 500 Infantry, 100 Wurm Riders, 5 Dark Mages | (rebels) 800 guerilla troops
Losses:
NW: -200 infantry, -60 Wurm Riders | -350 infantry, -550 militia, -12 000 population
S: -reserves, -8000 population | -150 infantry, -2 Holy Knights
E: -10 Wurm Riders | -600 guerilla troops
The Church proceeded to raid one eco point from House Leonhard's lands, while the Leonhardians in turn pillaged the polluted remains of the city-states.

SPOTLIGHT: The Arkenaar Continent. A Timeline.
AR 162 – The Briglandian government executes what becomes known as “The Great Misapportionment”.
AR 163 – Civil war breaks out in Brigland as the generals' disgust with the current government overflows.
AR 164 – The people rally in support of the not-quite-ousted government, forcing the military to reconsider their thoughts of broad support from the populace.
AR 165 – The kingdom of Arkenaar intervenes, turning the feud into a three-way war. Meanwhile, in Samarra, the mages somehow manage to quietly depose their own government. It is possible that Illusionists from House Telvanni or perhaps highly trained covert operatives were involved, but nothing can be proved.
AR 166 – The new magocracy of Samarra is instituted, and begins sending official diplomatic missions and gifts to the kingdoms of Arkenaar as thanks for their moral support. Brigland continues to be consumed by war, although the populace are turning towards the generals as their best hope for driving the Arkenaarians back.
AR 167 – “The Year Of Dust”. The rainy season is unusually short this year, causing extreme drought over the whole continent. But the lack of muddy trenches does not advance the war in Brigland, as all four groups involved attempt to back away from the whole situation, waiting for a better time to advance their interests.
AR 168 – Prince Rory II of Arkenaar single-handedly establishes peace in Brigland. First he exposes the flaws of both the incompetent government and the vicious generals, then rallies the populace into somehow accepting him as their leader over both of these alternatives. He becomes Duke of Neobrigia, making the country a semi-independent province of Arkenaar.
AR 169 – Samarra's magocracy continues to thank Arkenaar, this time for the Bell Festival that the Arkenaarans have exported to them. The mages have begun celebrating it too.
AR 170 – There is peace.

The Middle Continent is suprisingly quiet. Akratia and the Dangal Confluence have both gone into a decline. The Blood Elves have become passive, Zhiki appears to be fortifying its borders, and Iceland is expanding onto the neighbouring continent with its small fleet.

But a little further south, there is a lot more conflict. At first, Olympus retreats from the Fae's malevolent forces. Then, in a surprise move, an almost empty naval base on the west coast suddenly becomes the site for a lot of maneuvering and construction. Nobody expectes anything to come out of it, but... Two weeks later, a thousand men and ten Priests land on the far northern coast. The very terrain turns against them, but the Priests manage to subdue it my forcing it to work in their favor. With almost no defenders left in the area, this strike force quickly marches on the capital, and captures it in a month! After slaying the Council held there, they take the fortifications for themselves, consolidate their grasp, and all at once the Fae become disorganized.
(-600 olympian infantry, -6 Priests, -2 Titans. | -900 Fae infantry, -10 Chanters (The Council), -7 sprites, -10 000 population)

To the east, the Romans perform a similar feat, conquering the capital city of House Telvanni, but this is done with much less surprise and much more marching of well-trained armies. The Illusionists are able to spirit their government away under cover of darkness, which will allow them to maintain an active resistance – as opposed to the Fae, whose council was killed, throwing the nation into disorder.
(-200 Roman infantry, -2 Legionnaires. | -300 Telvannic infantry, -5 Illusionists, -4000 population)

Furey's Dominion, Roddyna and New Illryia are all peacefully expanding. Roddyna is on the brink of a scientific revolution.

The rebels in the southern part of the Tecno Union push for full indepence, naming themselves Novoria. (-20 000 Tecno Union population)

Map in next post. Anyone who posts between update and map will not have their stats updated properly. Stats will be updated a little later.

This is update 6!

NOTE: I WILL BE TRYING TO SPEED THIS NES UP. AS SUCH, ORDER DEADLINE IS MOVED UP TO THURSDAY, AND UPDATE SHOULD BE ON FRIDAY.

Yay! I got a Spotlight! :D Great update, Erik! :goodjob: For the record, Neobrigia is only independent in the way that they have Brigian councilors under the Duke. No army, no police, no nothing. That is taken care of by Arkenaar proper.

Neobrigia is pretty much like RL Wales. The title of Duke/Duchess is often given to the Heir to gain valuble experience in governing before ascending the throne. It also works as a way to keep good relations between Arkenaar and the Brigians.
