Basically i want this SG to be for people who have never played an SG before but have always wanted to. To qualify for this SG you need to have played less then 3 SG's preferably none. It doesn't matter what difficulty level you usually play at whether it be cheiftain or deity. I think the best way to move up in level is to play succession games yourself so i don't care if you're the worst player in the world, you learn from your mistakes. I want to have six people but if there is more people who want to play then i'll make another SG at a later date when this one is finished.

Roster:

T_Raccoon
ntallyn
S.ilver
eektor
Rem
Gaspar~

I'd like to join. I'm still learning the game, so I have no preferences.

Define "played". I know it includes "finished", but does it also include "in progress"? If not, count me in, because I've only finished 1 SG. Otherwise, the spot goes to someone else ;)

I would like to join. I'm a sub in one SG and I've only done 1 turnset so far, so I'm really new.

I've been reading up on SGs for a while now, but have never done one, and I'd love to try one out.

Glad to have you onboard.

Any specific civ you guys want to play?

Washington and Catherine are my two favourites, but it really doesn't matter to me

Alright now let's discuss leaders. We have Washington and Catherine as nominees anyone else want to nominate a leader?

I'd like to use someone I haven't used much/at all, so Saladin, Cyrus, Asoka or Mao get my vote. Anyone but Washington really, I like his traits so much I have to stop myself from using him virtually every time. :)

Well, out of those 4 Saladin gets my vote.

So the nominees are:

Saladin
Cyrus
Asoka
Mao
Catherine

First leader to be named is the leader we are playing with.

Saladin all the way!

Saladin it is. First of all Saladin is a spiritual and philosphical leader so we're going the religious route all the way.

The spiritual trait allows us more flexibility especially in an SG game. Instead of deciding on a long term option regarding civics spiritual civs can change civics depending on whats best at the moment. Spiritual civs can easily switch from a peaceful building strategy to a warmongering one with no anarchy penalties. Halfed priced temples will give our cities 1 happy face 2 culture but more importantly priest specialists. We'll need priest specialists for our holy shrines. Combine those priest specialists with the angkor wat wonder and we'll have a potent combination.

Philosophical gives us a 100% Great people birth rate bonus making those priest specialists i was just talking about come out 2 times faster. Philosophical allows for more flexibility as well. If you need money get a great merchant. Falling behind in science or want to dominate your opponent with a technological advantage get a Great Scientist. Want a culture victory, Great arists. Need a great Wonder ASAP, Great Engineer. Get my point. Philosphical civs get Universities at half price as well. We can combine this trait with the Parthenon to get an extra 50% to our great people birth rate. :)

Saladin's UU is the camel archer which replaces the knight it gets a 25% chance of retreat and requires no iron or horses to build.

I'll post a screenshot of our starting postion momentarily

Starting_Position.JPG

That's our starting position. Obviously we are going to go for an early religion and if possible get the hydra. It's only on noble so it's possible. their is gold in our city radius so researching mining is viable. We have a few trees as well so we should get bronze working soon too.

Ill play my 20 turns and the ntallyn will play 15 everyone after that will play 10 turns. Ill probably play tomorrow though as it is getting late.

:wow: Spirtual + Gold could = hydra if we started with mining.

Not a fan of wine in capital tho, and Arabia will have to research mining, and fishing to use that lake, so maybe just a poly start to endure hindu... I settle in place 99% of the time, though would like to see the warrior move south to get a better picture. Sure hope theres a food special near, the production capacity looks promising if theres a high food special with all those hills.

Without seeing more, I'd settle in place and start on poly, less that certain on that though. It is noble, which leaves buddhism in the frame, but by the time we got the gold online, I don't really see any way we'd snag both. Prolly do warrior then worker also, since we have nothing for a worker to do other than build roads.

i just played my turns and took some screenshots so ill post them up momentarily.

OK here it is

4000 BC: Saladin decides to move a band of warriors to the south on a hill to get a better view of what will be the Capital city of his empire, Mecca. The warrior reports this

He decides his people will settle where they stand and Mecca is born 4000 BC

3960 BC: Saladin decides to make his warrior explore the SE while the capital sets out to train more exploration parties. Saladin knows that without knowledge of there surroundings they will perish.

3920 BC: The exploration party visits a small tribal village and they shower them with gold (32) this will go directly into Saladin's treasury for future use.

3760 BC: :coffee:

3720 BC: Still exploring

3680 BC: :coffee:

3640: So this is about the most exciting thing to happen so far. Popped a goody hut and got 87 gold this time.

3600: Finally Saladin was getting bored. A Warrior was trained but Saladin wants more, MORE I TELL YOU MORE. We send this warrior to explore the NE. Somehow though our other exploration party got lost though and instead of going SE went SW and run in to a lion.

3560 BC: HA!! Lions got scared of my warriors and retreated back into the wilderness. No one stands up against Saladin's personally trained warriors.

3480 BC: AAAAHHH!!! The lions back RUN AWAY!!!!

3440 BC: After being threatened to be executed by Saladin himself the warriors stand there ground in favorable terrain and regroup. The warriors brace themselves.

More screenshots of this epic showdown between lion and humans coming up shortly

(It's funny how i made a simple lion look like such a threat, im so stupid)

3440 BC: the lion's have attacked but our warriors hold there ground. and our city reaches size 2. Our other exploration party meets more lions, doh!

3400 BC:Polytheism next turn

3360 BC: We found Hinduism in Mecca. Saladin becomes enlightened and now sees the world in a different way. After much deliberation he orders we discover buddhism. (usually buddhism is discovered just a couple turns before polytheism but in this case it wasn't so i think we might have a good shot at it)

I suggest we go for buddhism we only need nine more turns for it so we might as well try. after that i suggest we go for hunting and then animal husbandy to get those cows connected. Then maybe we could go for mining and finally go for Judaism afterward. Anyway we won't have much of a defense since were probably not going for archery anytime soon so warriors will have to be our main defense for a while.

ntallyn if you want to go up for 16 turns go ahead just to even the number a bit.

T_Raccoon - just played
ntallyn - UP
S.ilver- on deck
eektor - :coffee:
Rem - :coffee:
Gaspar~- :coffee:

My suggestion is since we got a religion already, lets try to get animal husbandry and time it so that I first worker is made when we get it. After that I think we should get mining to get the gold hooked up quickly and later get bronze working.

When did you find the chinese?
