HqNes2 - Fair, New World

I will be rejoining this NES as Cironelle. My apologies for abandoning it in the first place. Orders will come later today.

I'm dropping out of this.It doesn't interest me anymore. Not with several other more interesting NESes happening.

@Cuiv:
Growing your economy is simple. You can’t use any of your income from your level during that turn. You can still spend whatever income you might get from Trade Centres.

That help?

Advertise in your sig Harleqin. Ask people if they're interested...

Stalk them. :p

Not that far, but just try to actively bring in more people.

Yeah, that should work :) Though of course considering that in... bum bum seven days from now I'll be going through security at the airport and gone for two weeks it would probably be more prudent to do it when I get back home.

UPDATE 6 – 620 AF

The time of conflicts is upon us! Across the valley wars are fought and more break out as lands fight to secure their future and valuable resources. A time of war is upon us and only time will tell which nations still stand when the dust settles.

One new war comes in the far north where the empire of Tiesto continues their aggressive expansion, this time with a strike into the barbarian tribes to their southwest. With their armoured warriors leading the way and supported by the regular warriors the Tiestans make good initial progress as they strike unexpectedly. The campaign soon bogs down though due to fierce resistance and lack of leadership. The generals in charge of the campaign fail to agree on a tactic and due to their desire to impress their emperor it makes them take unnecessary risks. Now, this might be ok in case their plans had paid off, but contradicting orders lead to massive confusion in the army and it suffers a massive defeat. Had it not been for the good training and equipment of the troops the forces might have been eradicated, but as it was they manage to retreat to one of their campsites.
In order to maintain control of the area thousands of people are forcibly moved to the campsite and told to accept the fact that this is now their new home. Considering it is on the frontline and that they were moved by force this doesn’t go down well with the population.
(Tiesto: -1 confidence, -140 warriors, -35 armoured warriors)

Not far away in Ibe war is also raging on. The nation of Succubu is almost completely occupied, but the defending nation still has a massive army and sits in well-prepared defensive positions.
However, the Ibeians also have a strong army and as the king recruits minstrels to travel the land and sing songs about the glory and how Ibe and Succubu should be one nation rather than two nations, scores of volunteers flock to join the army. [1]
Having the capital city of Succcubu under siege the Ibeians recruit hundreds of archers to aid them in taking the city. The attack came on an early morning in May. The archers started sending in arrows to keep the enemy troops away from the walls and force them to take cover whilst simultaneously the warriors stormed the walls. Despite the rain of arrows the Ibeians were still met and fierce fighting erupted. The Ibeian command had a plan though. The attack was concentrated on one side of the wall and as the fighting there reached a climax they attacked another side of the wall. This worked extremely well as most of the defenders there had been pulled away and a breakthrough was accomplished. Caught between two forces, tired and with the enemy in the city the Succubi eventually surrendered to the victorious Ibeian army. Victory was accomplished, though at a high cost.
Following the victory the warriors were ordered north, but due to the amount of injured and the general weariness of the troops the orders had to be cancelled as the troops basically refused to go anywhere without some time to rest.
(Ibe: +160 warriors, -480 warriors, +2 economy points next turn, -1 loyalty. -Succubu)

Imperia also goes on the warpath. Recruiting a massive army the king then tells them to go south and take all they can find in the name of Imperia! They do. In fact the army grows so big that the concentrated force blows though everything the barbarians can muster and victory after victory follows. Sheer numbers combined with good training makes a huge difference and if the supply lines hadn’t become stretched so thin that further advance was impossible there’s no telling how far they might have gone.
(Imperia: -210 warriors)

The war in Phala finally comes to an end as the Syldavians overrun their capital slaughtering all the men in the city. The children are sold as slaves whereas the women who aren’t too old and the girls over the age of 12 are mass raped by the army and then sold either into slavery or sent back to Syldavia to be used for sport. The final battle was bloody costing the Syldavians close to half their army, but victory was assured!
(Syldavia: -400 warriors, +1 happiness)

Ironal is not at war at this point of time, at least not technically. They still have their skirmishes with the barbarians, but they do show remarkable constraint after the criticism they got for the violent conduct of their troops during their last push. Expansion is more slow this time as they focus their push on the mountainous region in the north, but some progress is made. Attempting to improve relations with their neighbours they start trading with Karak.
(Ironal-Karak: Copper-Wood trade route)

In Dashtaka things are somewhat more peaceful. A new king takes over the reigns of the nation and starts constructing a grand forum or theatre thing. The people are a little bit confused, but promised of grand events and plays for their amusement sounds good so they go along with it even though the name confuses them a bit.
The new ruler is so busy with his projects that he forgets all about the war which is fought in the north and being good, obedient soldiers they decide to wait for their ruler to tell them what to do. This makes the barbarians bold enough to try some raids, but these are quickly beaten back by the massive Dashtakan army.
(Dashtaka: -25 warriors)

In southern Cironelle things are also mainly peaceful. Sure, a large force is sent out to claim lands for Cironelle, but apart from that the nation focuses on internal growth. Like in Dashtaka they too start a massive new project, called the Temple of Aun. The plans for the temple are impressive and when completed it will surely be a sight to see and the population are already teeming with anticipation. It will take some time to complete, but no doubt it will be worth it. As said, they mainly focus on their domestic situation setting up a number of schools teaching the children the basic things they need to know, though mainly focusing on religion and the glory of Cironelle. New training is also given to the administrators focusing on how to better get their share of the profit when the commoners trade, but also in how to better manage the agricultural sector. This last bit causes some grumbling as Cironelle has very few farms considering the realm consists almost entirely of deep forest. They do as they are told though and the standard of the administrators improve to the point where they are mere incompetent.
The House of Potevin knows though that in order to be strong, more land is needed to support their population and a large force of warriors was sent east. Their claims of the land now belonging to Cironelle is met with amazement by the people already living there. Seeing the show of force they shake their heads and accept it as it matters little to them who calls himself boss. The chieftain who already had claimed the lands is not pleased though and a battle erupts between his forces and those of Cironelle. Try as they might they are no match for the woodsmen and are quickly beaten off with few losses.
(Cironelle: -30 warriors)

The Tribunal consolidates quietly.

Peace is struck between Mearlekrol and Rajo after the Rajan forces suffered yet another defeat, The terms of the peace is not known, but all reports indicate it was a very harsh one. Unfortunately for Rajo this is not the end of their woes as both Catar and Siberia decide they want a piece of the action. The two nations doesn’t act in accordance and it comes to minor clashes between their forces, even though it doesn’t erupt into full scale war between them. Rajo, however, has vanished off the map.

Higoria goes west and attacks the barbarians there. Bateria recruits a massive army, but none know for what purpose.

[1] This is a story bonus. If desired I can move to the domestic/military/random events structure some others use.

How much into shall I put in on NPC v NPC wars? I didn’t give them much this time, mainly because I’m half dead due to the heatwave we have here in Europe.
Also, I think it simplest to say that all special cities generate one extra point per turn with religious and cultural giving some additional benefit every now and then. Any thoughts?

Right, I’m going on a 2-week vacation on Thursday. That means there will be some break before the next deadline and update. I really hope the NES can survive without everybody forgetting to send in orders ;) That means next deadline is Friday, August 18th.

Here be the map :p
