IV
1926

Washington DC~
Army Air Corps created by US Congress. (+1 Aiplane squadron, U.S.)

Vienna~
Hitlers Austrian Nazi Party holds frist congress since Feb. 1925.

Syria~
Ottoman Secret police & army crush Druze uprising. This after allegations (which would turn to be true months later) of an agreement to let Jews populate palestine. Such move in time would populate the area and increase its production.

Paris~
Benelux bicycle racer Lucien Buysse wins Tour de France.

WAR!
London~
Relations between Argentina and the european powers boiled over to war. The British were the first to declare war upon Argentina for the sinking of HMS Maine'. Colombia, having an allience with Argentina sided against the european surge. Entete allies soon rallied and by the end of the month, France, Italy and Spain joined the British.

AUGUST

Houston~
Government sets up counter-reforms restricting rights of African-Texan citizens and homosexuals. The fascist Tejas party (which also helped push the pro-gun reforms) has gained enough support to win the elections in November next year, but who knows what will happen. As a result 10,000 texan refuges cross the Rio Grande into mexico, looking for a better life.

Johannesburg~
50,000 begin crowding the South African city as British announce discovery of largest diamond mine yet. (Johannesburg trade center appears)

Tehran~
Uprising in Persia against Shah Rexa pahlevi breaks out in Southeast.

Stockholm~
The People's Congress of the SSS has announced the start of the first 5 year plan, which will increasy industrial output. Within a year, improvements are expected to be seen. Unlike capitalism, the SSS control of means of production makes it possible to plan the economy in the long run.

Budapest~
Hungarys only munitions works destroyed, Killing 24, injuring 300.

SEPTEMBER

Madrid~
In spain, the film "El Gato y el Chango" is released. Altough not having much success like other european films of recent years, it finds the Texan audiences liking it!. The president of Texas was qouted saying out loud at the theater "Monkeys washing cats!!".

Montevideo~
HMS Nelson and three battleship groups, the might of the British navy reached Rio De La Plata and blockaded it. Winston Churchill, First lord of the admiralty planned the siege of Argentina. Later in September, he would plan the landings in the Falkland islands. Taking them w/out losses.

San Francisco~
The International science conference that emphasized physics and chemistry took place in the UCC. The conference was held in the Bay area in conjunction with Cal Tech, Stanford and Berkeley. All expenses were paid and many invited. Einstein, Ed Teller, Robert Oppenheimer (he’s local), Niels Bohr, Enrico Fermi, Otto Frisch, Lise Meither, Leo Sziland, Irene & Fredrick Joiliot-Curie, Werner Heisenberg, Werner Von Braun, Robert Goddard among others took part of the event. Altough most scientists saw the UCC weather as nice and the area good for them to move there permanently, they all had their research in place in their native countries. Moving would simply prove counter-productive. Future persecution could in the future encourage them to move, but the world is still safe under democracy. However they came to the aggreement to meet again in San Francisco every year to share ideas and spread information on current developments.
In fact Einstein had a place bought in Alcatraz island for him to do research in the winter. When weather in germany was the least liked by the strange scientist.

OCTOBER

Santiago~
60,000 Spanish soldiers finally arrive in south america to reinforce the armies there. They go to build a magnificent line of defense. however to their disapointment, the Argentinians never really attack. The Spanish commander would later on be placed on leave as no plans were drawn up for a possible Colombian attack in the north. Which would have ended in tragedy had the french not invaded.

Buenaventura~
The french main battlefleet arives on the Colombian ports of Buenaventura (not a fantasy city cui :p) and Cartagena. Italian ships also arrived to help out. They were stationed in Cartagena.
The colombian fleet was taken by surprise, it was however not a threat as years of underfunding had left it obsolete. With the main colombian seaports blocked, france would then move to take Panama...

Kiev~
In October 17, Trotsky and other collaborators jump started the communist movement in Russia. A mere result of the victory of the Socialists in scandinavia and inspiration from the writtings of a russian national that passed away in swiss exile years ago.

Panama City~
THE BATTLE FOR PANAMA
With dominance of the seas taken, the French then moved their transports past Darien Gap (a strategic geographical point dividing panama from colombia) and landed their forces just north of it. The french had realised that the Colombians had in fact built a fort in that location to protect the all important passageway. The French landed a total of 60,000 regulars and 30,000 conscripts. They were now facing the combined numbers of the colombian northern armies, having a total of 120,000 conscripts. ofcourse the colombians were fighting for their homeland and were aided by the jungles that make up central america. The french quickly over ran the rest of Panama, but it was of great importance to capture the pass of Darien Gap. So the French Regulars (made up mainly of French marines and 2 Foreign legions from North Africa and Cochinchina) made their advance. The French commander Ferdinand Foch knew he was at a disadvantage when he lost most of the North African foreign legion and had high casualties on his marines. He set to plan for another way to take the fortress without an actual frontal attack. The answer came a few days later when the french Zeppelin Air force had arrived after stoping in French Nicaragua after the long trip across the atlantic. The Zeppelins were numerous and it was the first time in history that such numbers were used in combat. They provided recon to Foch and allowed him to bombard the fort and the jungles around. This proved very efficient, breaching walls and killing thousands of colombians waiting in the jungles to do hit and run attacks. The Zeppelins and their bombs were of great psychological effects as they could not be shot down with anything they had in the ground. In October 31st, the Colombian commander officially surrendered and Darien Gap was taken. The battle had taken almost two weeks and casualties were huge. French Casualties were roughly 30,000 dead or injured (3 divisions) while the colombian northern armies lost over 50,000 men (5 divisions) . This proved a decisive defeat and the government of Bogota now wanted to go to the peace negotiations. Italian manpower never arrived to help out in central america however.
Despite the loses, General Ferninand Foch was now acclaimed as the General that won the war.

NOVEMBER

Jakarta~
Nationalists rise against Dutch Benelux in Java

Moscow~
Trotsky & Zinoviev Joined by communist movements of Kirov in the North and Stalin in the South.

DECEMBER

Paris~
Clude Monet has died on his prime at the age of 86. his work of the last ten years, scenes of the garden and lily pond on his Giverny state, may be his best. In them, with nearly sightless eyes, Monet seized the lush colorsand ephemeral light he pursued all his life. Monet was born in Le Havre, on the north coast of france in Nov. 14, 1840.

Buenos Aires~
Coup in Argentina!, Socialists bring down dictator as the army was over extended waiting for armies that never really came. The capital was fought over and won. The president, believed to have started a war that couldnt simply be won (and that much of his latter diplomacy was not even repplied) lost much support. Argentina now lies under the red banner and asks the european powers towards peace negotiations.
Mats Sundin sent a letter of good will to the new Socialist Republic of Argentina.

Rome~
Benito Mussolini continues to gain voters as current government remains inactive regarding the Italian question in Austria. Elections expected to be closest ever when they take place in February of 1927.

Stockholm~
Nobel peace price of 1926 goes to the German Chancellor for his actions towards maintaining peace in scandinavia and his calls towards peace at the start of the South american conflict.

meh, sorry if i forgot something, but if it isnt in the update, doesnt mean it didnt happen

anyhow a few pointers:

1: always look at the map and count how many cities you have and check your economy. i noticed that some of you didnt realised that the economy grow by more than 1 point.... In fact can anyone update the national output thing to figure out how much everyone has? (note that theres a new city in the US and South Africa) and the economies have changed a lot from 2 turns ago.

2: someone asked if small powers should be able to bank PPs so they could build airships or grandships. The answer is no. historically if a small power wanted a modern large ship, they would have it made in one of the great powers (he... that still goes on today). So u can ask a great power to build it for you and you can pay him back later on. The point is that only the large powers have the infrastructure to build these huge weapons of war.

3- update is Th-Fri (so try to get the orders in as soon as wednsday :)

4- Added "Wars" & "Great Battles" pages under stats and diplo agreemtns.

OOC: nice update, my poor troops had to build that defensive line for no reason, oh well better than no defensive line at all

To: Argentina
From: Spain

we will agree to peace if spain is granted an extention on borders to make it easier to defend for both sides

NewSA.jpg

we will also be willing to support the new socialist government with a 5 turn NAP to prevent a war for the near future.

To: Columbia
From: Spain

if the rest of the ententre has no problem with you i'm willing for peace

From Argentina:
To Spain:

We have no reason to give in. Spain holds no Argentinian territory and therefore is in no position to make territorial demands.

From Argentina:
To UK:
Altough we searched the archives of the former regime, we did not find any evidence that it was argentina that sunk your ship. However it is a new government and therefore we propose pease, putting the Falkland islands on the table of negotiations. There is no point to continue this war.

To: Argentina
From: Spain

we were hoping a millitary action wouldnt be needed, if you need the army in the middle of your land in order to be interested in a peace agreement, we'll be willing to back up our words but would just prefer that an agreement be reached

Any Germans there were (kindly, but forcefully) returned to Germany.

Panama is now a French protectorate, and any deals with Panama must go through France first.

Nice update, btw. I'll write up a treaty for Colombia soon, assuming that they are now willing to sign one.

All deals between Germany and the Colombian government regarding Panama must now be renegotiated with the French and Panamanian governments. As far as France is concerned, Germany has no investment in Panama.

OOC:
my south african city isnt larg eon the map. (or is it a new small city?)

To Argentina and Colombia:

We wil lsign peac ein return of the falklands to the UK and Panama becomea French protectorate.

To UK:
From Argentina & Colombia:

Those terms seem fair to us, and if the French agree.... SIGNED!

Druze uprising.

stalin006, the Druzes are physically incapable of rebellion. ;) Trust me, I've talked with them. :p
