The Fate of the House of Iaxeres
During the fall of Agbatana, the only son of Iaxeres III, Xerxes, had been killed by an arrow during his escape. A significant portion of the royal family was brutally slaughtered, but some still escaped.
Only by the time that they had outran the Urrian army, did the survivors realize that the ruling line was broken, for the first time in Medean history. A cousin of Xerxes, nephew of the late emperor, named Meresh, was found to be the closest surviving relative.
The House of Iaxeres stayed for sometime in western Hittite lands, until word of the last wishes of Iaxeres III were heard. The Emperor having announced his plans to his family earlier, they accepted the message and joined the League of Sea Peoples.
Today, the House of Iaxeres lives on in the city of Tyre. It will on occasion take part in events or advise government, but for the most part it bides its time.
Someday, inevitably, Ur will fall. Then, the heir to Iaxeres will return at last.
