Pharaoh speaks to his people:
Oh Egypt—death is coming
From the north or from the east
Like some nasty hulking beast;
It seeks the end of all we know,
To kill Egypt now with sword and bow;
To win this war, your strength I need
The call to battle I command you heed:
Take up arms, we march to war;
Your men we need, and a whole lot more.
The endless hordes from Troy and Sumer
March this way--that is the rumor;
All Egypt now shall be ready,
Our swords and spears in defense, steady;
Let their tide roil and swell
Then break upon this rock, where we do dwell.
With sword and spear we defend what’s dear
And stand our ground as we hear
The desperate cries of fallen men--
The Lion now defends its den.
