DNA Molecule (Cure for Cancer)

Quite simple model (but making double Helisa wasn't so easy - it was some kind of challange for me ;)) - monument for Cure Cancer with DNA Molecule on Pedestal.
It could be used also for other wonders, for example for Discovering DNA Molecule and Human Genome Project

574 triangles model.
Two textures 64x64 and one 128x128.
5 buttons to choose from.
It uses edited Pedestal from Heroic Epic

I've used this settings in CIV4CityLSystem.xml

Buttons look nice, but almost all look like candy drops.
I searched for a 64&#178; pixel dna image myself earlier, its hard, this is my result (lacking background):

Simple model. The texture transparency in the middle does the trick.
Too bad 3dsmax does spiral staircases, or spirals and a rotated array in 5 mouse klicks.
Turn the spiralized square into a spiralized triangle by collapsing all the upper polygons of the rotated spiral and moving them down to bring the model down to 450 polys.
Then rotate every second triangle by 120&#176; around the spiral and turn the edges to make all triangle-faces isosceles.
That makes the triangles look rounder than unrorated squares.
 
Hehe thx i'm glad you like it :). And I'm not only one who makes wonders on this forum :). It's easier to make mods when you have ready models - Many graphics in mod i have from this forum - it saved me a thousand of hours of work :)

Hehe, in civ4 almost all butons look like candy drops ;). It's common for games on US market (so companies (usualy european) makes sometimes two versions of game - more saturated on us, and less saturated on europe, and majority of games like civ4 have only more colourfull version cause the us game market is the biggest - i try to keep that tradition and i don't begruge colors)

I own max since half year, and i'm still beginner in that matter. I lost about 2 hours to make it - In the begining trying to bend the plains with weird results. Finally I found that staircases option, deleted unused poligons, reedit vertices, and finally twirl - so it has more spirals without increasing pollies (and it wasn't 5 clicks :)). It took me some times to make Purine and Pyrimidine symbolized as biems - not much - once i made one beam i just coppy / paste / rotate other

I won't change this model (unless if it would have some serious graphical issues), but I'll remeber it for future thx.
 
Yup me too - Projects aren't so flexible (it would need some sdk, python work to change). So i changed it to buildings in mod
