Hmm Germany feels left out... *Puppy Dog Eyes*

This is the Security Council. I am not making a General Assembly thread, Security Council is enough.

Oh and majority of the nations in this world are members of the United Nations.

UN SECURITY COUNCIL!!! 15 members.

Speaking of which, Ghana checking in.

((Germany wonders where Qatar is... goes and looks it up in an Atlas... then ponders why its on the Security council... Germany Shrugs))

yes anyone is eligible to be on the Security Council.

The African bloc chooses three members; the Latin America and the Caribbean, Asian, and Western European and Others blocs choose two members each; and the Eastern European bloc chooses one member. Also, one of these members is an Arab country, alternately from the Asian or African bloc.[2]

Also, Ghana is : IN SUPPORT of the proposed changes to the UNSC allowing Brazil, Japan, India, Germany, and a yet-to-be decided African/Arab/Both country permanent seats.

EDIT: The non-obvious election bloc is Western Europe and Others. Members are

India formally requests a seat on the security council. We thank Ghana for support said request.

Germany thanks Ghana for their support and would indeed appreciate a seat on the security council.

Italy votes against third world countries having anymore of a say than they already do, so a no to India.

Japan would like to remind the council of the dangers of having a dozen members on the permanent security council, little enough gets done as it is...

However, Seeing as how Japan does have the third largest economy on the planet, and is influential well across the globe, it does not oppose its own ascension to the security council.

:p

South Africa checking in. We support the addition of Germany and Japan and espeically India and Brazil. Also, we would like to apply as the African Candidate for perminent membership.

In response to opposition: We simply believe all regions should be fairly represented, and thus atleast 1 major power from each continent/region of Earth should have a seat.

OOC: Japan was the one that started requests for a permanent seat, alongside Germany. India and Brazil followed, making the g4 all supporting each other in getting permanent seats. UK and France support it in RL. Others undecided.

RL support by nation:

China, North Korea, and South Korea STRONGLY oppose Japan.

Mongolia, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Brazil, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom support Japan. USA supports Japan but opposes G4+One.

Japan, India, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom and Russia as well as others all support Germany, who has no opposition strictly against them.

China, France, Russia and the United Kingdom as well as g4 and other nations support India

United States (but without veto power), g4, and Russia support Brazil

Argentina and mexico oppose brazil as they wish to have the seat instead.

from the article on wiki but with other sources: Reform of the United Nations Security Council

ooc What are the limits of seats in the security counsel and are they going to be elected to go onto the counsel in 2008 (one turn away). If they are going to be elected in 2008 and there are only 15 seats then there are 5 seats opening in 2008. Republic of Ghana your seat is no more in 2008 unless you try and get on again.

UK at this moment in time will hold any support to put anyone onto the permanent security council but will do so in the near future. However we will support putting Germany onto elected members

India does not request a permenant seat on the security council. (unless you can only have a permenant seat in which case i do)
