Update 2: Year 1816
Domestic Events:
Times of great colonialism and exploration continue for the Kingdom of Portugal. Back home in Iberia the city of Porto begins to industrialize its wine industry. Increase output and maintaining quality, these wines are shipped abroad. Bringing back trade the city from the far corners of the globe which along with increases in shipping help it become a larger industrialized port. Military exercises are conducted in the open Atlantic. Along with the creation of several new ships and the training of several new divisions, Portugal is slowly becoming a European and world power, both economically and militarily.(+ Porto EC)
France continues its overall dominance of the European peace keeping force(see spotlight) but other then that it continues expansion peacefully in Africa and Australia. A new education program sweeps France and the colonies as new schools are built in all of the major and some minor cities. Providing free schooling for all children under the age of 14 and some over the age. This widely increase the literacy rate and really boosts the populations knowledge on foreign affairs. Including Austria. Though the education system is far from perfect. It is perhaps the most well planned out system in use at this time. And in the future more and more children of all age ranges should be able to attend school with very little to no cost to them. A continuation of the previous years government cuttings of the so called weak in the office. Except now it is the ones of the higher political range cutting out their underlings. Which works well. But puts a lot of people out of jobs. Most just go to the army or navy. Which is fine for the French as the army and navy standards increase and size dramatically. Creating the premiere fighting force in the world. The navy itself seems to be a popular place for young lads to go. As trade opens up with Japan and great sailing expeditions across the pacific begin. It seems the sun will never set on the French.
The British, though repeating the same as last year have a few different thing to sort out this year. They make colonies in New Zealand but arent the only ones and expand all of their territories. They continue to expand the East India company which puts a slight hurting on the Dutch and Portuguese, but not enough to damage their economy. Surprisingly privateers are captured off the coast of Singapore by the Dutch and for some odd reason they claim to have been hired by the British. The Dutch are getting to the bottom of this during the summer but never really find the roots of the privateers. Though they believe the British have been using them to damage trade. The British also open trade with Japan and continue exploration in the pacific.
The Dutch, plan expensive and huge exploration and colonization campaigns early in the year which are begun and work amazingly well. With the transplanting of crops from South America into South East Asia to the expansion in Australia and New Zealand. The Dutch trade in the regions takes a minor hit when shipping lines are terrorized by privateers but this is soon cut down to nothing as most of them are sunk. Trade and good timing in New Zealand allow the locals to favor the Dutch over the British. And it seems the Maori have begun to raid the British colonies. But not with Dutch help. Back home in Europe the Dutch continue to express neutrality and begin opening banks for which the people during war times can send there money to be safe. Much like the Swiss. The Holy Unified Republic of Italy begins 1816 on a high note. With military victories over the invading Austrians and the completion of the rebuilding of Rome. All seems to be at its best. Colonies with French help are setup in Africa and Italian, and opening trade relations with Japan, economy is booming. (see spotlight)
Onto the German Reich we find a very surprising thing. As usual the continuation of nationalism and industrialism are spreading still. But now the people come together like never before. The military and economy are at an all time high. The Emperor announces the unification of all Germans under one German Reich and the people rejoice. Finally Germany is complete. For now. The Ottomans to join in on the peace keeping in Hungary. But they along with the French decide it is best for them to stay out of the matter. As the people may not enjoy Ottoman soldiers staying in the lands for any period of Time due to past historical and cultural differences. Though they do fortify some sections near the Hungarian borders not knowing whom to trust as of yet. They also expand into Africa and help modernize Sennar whom has agreed to be allies under those conditions. The Expansion of these two nations is great over such a short period of time and the Ottomans gain much trade from the interior of Africa. (+ Economy)
Onto Russia we see much of the same as everywhere else. Industrialization. But on a larger scale. The population base in Russia is enough to fuel any industry to a peak. And this is what the Tsarista planned. She had large factories built and new ports designed and begun. Besides this a large expansion and infrastructure campaign begins. Lands around the Caspian sea are soon swallowed up by the big Russian Bear. And Alaska to. Even though Canadian expansion halts there major goals they gain enough land to suffice the Royal whims.
Great Wall of China? The Emperor seems to think so. A new large wall of fortifications is built on the southern borders to protect from the so called threats. The army continue its training exercises and modernization also begins. The Chinese feel it is necessary to defend themselves from the Westerners at all costs.
In Canada lots of things go down as the selling of lands to Louisianan Empire to the expansion in the Artic and Alaskan territories. The increase of tariffs on NEF and DRA and the reduction of Tariffs on Louisianan. Though not much else is speak able of. But the people really do love Canada. (+ Culture)

Secondly as he sees Rome is now ruled by the Pope he seizes all lands for himself that are formally owned by the Church and they are up for sale on the market bringing in quite a lot of personal gain. An expedition is set out to capture the islands of Galapagos, followed shortly by scientific teams from the University of Peru. Which gives a large understanding of nature and even the beginnings of a theory of evolution. A Royal Assembly is created for advisory roles to the monarch and shortly after suffrage is limited to the wealthy/ land owners. (+culture, for real this time

The Portuguese war on Oman breaks out into ground combat early in the year. After a refusal of the Oman peoples to surrender Zanzibar, it is burned to the ground. And a decisive ground campaign is waged in east Africa, with the Portuguese coming out on top in nearly all of the battles. With the destruction of Omans fleet shortly before the landings in East Africa there was little that could be done to halt supplies and troops reinforcements. Within a few months the dust had settled and all of East Africa save for one small, now fortified city still being held onto by a division of Oman soldiers. Fighting courageously, though it seems it may all be in vain as the Sultan seems to be preparing peace terms to save his peoples lives. The events that took place post Austrian invasion of Italy were cruel on the national stance as the former Hapsburg Empire collapsed and is now merely a small fragment of its former glory. Hungary declared independence and now has its own government setup with the Aid of German Italian and French Soldiers. Austria is occupied by these forces as well for peace keeping measures. But the true issues are the balance of power. Germany nearly doubled in economic and military power since the beginning of the Austrian war and no one seemed to notice. Italy itself wasnt doing to badly for a newly formed Republic. The only one to seem to be upset by this change of events in Europe was Great Britain. Whom repeatedly asked for the peaceful reformation of Austria to its former borders. And no this was not going to happen. The Austrians dug themselves into a hole to deep to climb out of. Because not only did they not surrender when they should have they continued fighting on. Killing French soldiers on top of the situation. Which pretty much signed and sealed their fate. As the Italians and Germans consolidated there claims the French finished off the rest of the royalist soldiers in Austria leaving only a few divisions whom surrendered and were formed into a mandatory defensive army for Austria. Emperor Leopold III was forced into exile somewhere in Africa and somewhere the French do not tell. A new monarch has not be chosen and it is uncertain which direction they will go.
For Hungary however it was easy. Nearly to easy. Voting was started and a president fro ma list of about five candidates won via land slide. Its no coincidence he himself was a revolutionary. He formed a Hungarian Army and setup the rest of the governmental things. While the French helped train the Hungarian armies the Italians and Germans tried to do what they could as to not become left out or looked down upon as history was passing them by. They gained rather large support in the Catholic regions of Hungary. And the Pope made a public announcement of his wishes for peace in Europe.

Very well done update, though I didn't want the treatment of Zanzibar to be quite so heavy handed. Mostly I just wanted to starve their troops out.
