Here's a Sci-Fi Spaceship. The name is pretty generic, so if anyone has anything better, I'm all ears.

If this is a frigate then imagine how massive the battleship would be. ;)

Very nice work though NavyDawg. What are those red things it's firing?

Looks excellent. Sometimes simplicity has it's own elegance. Not to say that this isn't well detailed (it is) but the basic design of the ship is straightforward. Nothing outlandish or vestigial and that makes sense for a "generic space ship". The weapons and animations are excellent.

Now if you were going to do something like a space carrier or space marine assualt ship that may call for a little something extra... like aircraft docking.

Space Battle Frigate my last part over the fence! More like a Space Battle CRUISER! (or CGBS to use Naval ship class designations... CGBS = Cruiser, Guided missile, Battle, Space) I mean that thing's as big as my Air Dreadnought!

Nice job, though... It looks a lot like the design I've been working on for a Jarofan Shokutan class Battle Cruiser (CGBS) for a Sci-Fi story I've been kicking around for about 10 years now called Galaxy In Peril, only the front of the ship is more streamlined and the engine section is bigger... Plus it has control fins at the tail for atmospheric flight.

The Jarofan Shokutan class battle cruiser is about the size of an Old Republic Dreadnought from Star Wars, and is the second largest capital class starship in the Jarofan Federal Republic. The largest is the Terran Missouri Class Space Battleship (BBGS), which is half as long as an Imperial class Star Destoryer from Star Wars, but could beat an ISD due to the fact that its primary armament has four 32-inch 3-gun heavy laser turrets that, when all 3 laser cannons are fired, pack about 3/4 the punch as the Plantery Ion Cannon the Rebels had in Empire Strikes Back... On top of which it also has 2 MK-96 Vertical Launching System (VLS) arrays that hold 80 Aenna long-range cruise missiles each....

The Terrans (Humans) also have the distinction of building the biggest and smallest capital starships in the Jarofan fleet... the Taifu Class Guided Missile Space Patrol Craft (PCGS), which is about the same size as a Correllian Blockade runner...

Anyways, nice unit, and I may end up using this unit if I ever decide to make Galaxy In Peril into a Civ III mod...

This ship really reminds me of the ship styles in the Homeworld series, specifically the Taiidan. Another top-of-the-line unit from NavyDawg!

@Hikaro: Sounds interesting, I'd definitely like to read it if/when you finish it. As a matter of fact, I just started work on my own Sci-fi epic/space opera. I have the general story mapped out and now I am working on the specifics for the first book.

Man.. I'm itching to make a "Goldflash's Dumb Sci-Fi Mod" now...But I won't. Not yet, anyway.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I guess it is more of a cruiser sized ship. "Frigate" was just an arbitrary designation by me, but I'll probably change that in my mod.

I did notice that I left the running light on in the death, so I think I'll replace that one flic.

HT,
Your Sci-Fi story sounds good. Let me know if you ever want to make it into a mod.

Well the armament seems right to be a frigate, but it just seems to large. Of course, whatever.

New death Flic uploaded in the main download file. Preview in Post #1.

I turned the running lights off, and also added some escape pods, to improve the quality of life for folks who serve on this thing. Let me know what you think.

IMO...the ship should be GONE in the final stage of the death flc...Im not saying change this unit, but if you plan on more ships, I would suggest a more "energetic" explosion...that ends with debris flying out of frame...not just "crashing" into ground that may or may not be there...

tho if you watch Starwars, the Star destroyers do the same "sinking" that wouldnt occur in space, so I could (again) be wrong here...but I would think that the ship actually blowing into pieces might be more "realistic"

[edit] lemme just Add that both the Model, and the animations on this ship are great, and makes me want to do a Sci-Fi MOD (except plenty seem to be in progress, and Im working on Narnia full time -more or less-)
