I'm having a bit of trouble finding time now, too...

the changes sound good. I especially like the idea of pre-placing Seleucid cities, and of adding Pontus, too.

Sorry, same here Kerero.

I haven't found any time for a future, in depth detailed report.

Bump :bump:

Any news on the next patch? Should I continue playing this patch? :hmm:
I've done some work on the next patch, redesigning the mountains around Thrace and adjusting the civs so that I now have Pontus in replacing the Cretans. I've also had time to get some more of the civilopedia done. I plan to redo the map around Armenia next (hopefully this week). I have some other ideas that I just haven't been able to implement yet. I have an interview on Friday, and though it should be fairly easy you'll understand that it takes up a bit of time to prepare.

One quick idea I had - I'm not really happy with how the chariots work in the game, so I was thinking maybe I could make them into missile units. Persia would have a building that would spawn them, to make sure that they had plenty. High rate of fire but quite low bombard strength, range 2. This should also make sure that the Persians actually attack the Phalanx armies rather than just move around them. Chariot archers would be an exception - they would become more like normal archers, but with move 2 instead of 1.

Any thoughts/opinions?

So to answer your question, :D hopefully the patch (maybe the last one before release?) will be early April. BTW, if you have any save files from quite late in your game I would be interested in having a peek.

Okay thanks ran into another error Art/Units/Tiarii/base/flc**not found game will now exit.is that because i played the wrong civ.?
Hi dferrill, I thought that I'd move this problem over here to answer, since this is where the playtest feedback is meant to be. The fix to this problem is on post 49 of this thread, just look back a few pages and you should find it. :)

I've decided not to release an update at this time, but I believe that I'm nearly there. The reason I'm not releasing an update right now is that a lot of the changes I've made are with the art, i.e. mainly cosmetic, and also to be honest it's a nightmare getting all the files together for a patch. The next version I release should be a new full version for public BETA testing. It will include some new Leaderheads for various civs, as well as hopefully running straight away and not requiring 4 or 5 patches to be installed first. :mischief:

The other thing that I want to say here is that any testing that people are doing on the present version is still very useful to me, and if you could begin wrapping that up now... If there are issues that you feel need addressing then now is the time to let me know.

Thanks all. :)

Ok, I after I installed everything this is what happened:

Maybe I missed a pediaicons update, or maybe I didn't install them in the right order. I'm not sure. You have any idea?
Im getting the same error i have installed all the updates and in the order suggested and still getting this load error please help.

I honestly haven't had time to play civ much at all lately. My civ time has ended up being research and posting. So you shouldn't wait for me, go ahead and release the next iteration when you're ready. I will continue to play and post my thoughts.

@ dferrill - I know you said that you had installed everything in the right order, but did you install both the 0.9 patch and the 0.9 patch fix? When bd had this problem I think that he had missed out the 0.9 patch on post 115.

@ Blue - I'll go ahead and sort out the next iteration then. It will be a BETA still, so if there are problems I'll try to fix then ASAP.

Sorry that you're having trouble dferrill :(. I'll ask a a few questions, and apologise in advance if it feels like I'm insulting your intelligence, :mischief: but I'm just trying to get an idea of what the problem might be.

Firstly, you are certain that you've installed the patches in the order they are in on post 2 of this thread?

This might be a stupid question, but what biq are you opening? You'll probably have two biqs (called 'AC 0-8' and 'AC 0-9' if I remember correctly), and if you try to play with the older one (AC 0-8) then it will return an error like the one you report.

BTW - Just so people know, I've got an uncle's funeral to go to tomorrow and will be without internet access for two days. If I don't respond during that time then please understand I'm not ignoring you.

The version im using is the zip fixed AC V 0-90 you open up the zip and theres a biq file which is Alexanders Conquests v 101.biq hope that explains it clear enough.

I'll try to take a look tonight before I leave. Is the message above the exact one that you get when trying to run the game?

Not a nuisance at all. ;)

I've done a dummy install at home tonight, and found that the pediaicons file in the 0.9 patch definitely has that entry. The only thing I noticed is that when I did the install the 0.9 patch ended up in the wrong location and I had to move it manually. If your civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios folder has another folder in it called civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios/scenarios the you'll need to drag the folder from inside it into your main civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios folder and choose to overwrite files when it asks you to. You should be able to delete the biq file, since the 0.9 fix has a newer one.

If this is the problem, then It's my own stupid fault. :shake:

When you did this did you try starting a new game and did it load witout a error?.I tried what you said but recieved a error message that wasnt the same it had no name other then pediaicon error dont remember exactly what but it had no name in error like it did with the shrine.I dont no what to tell you but you might want to try and play the game if you didnt sorry for not givig you the exact error message but i have to go to work.

If I was wanting to play this in say, the next month would I be needing to download this version? I mean from what I've read so far its a great scenario in its present form but I was just wondering if there was going to be an updated version any time soon. I know, I know, it'll get done when it gets done but sometimes you just get tired of waiting. :bounce:
