Black Rider

It’s great! :goodjob: It's borderline perfect even!
But what type of stats will a Nazgul unit have in the Arda mod though? I mean, I can’t imagine Nazguls falling to a random number generator every other day…

I hate to be a cheeky fool but, when can we suspect a Nazgul on one of their flying beast… Or would that be too much to ask… :mischief:

WE're hoping for those eventually... nazgul will probably have a promotion to make them strong against all units, except those with a certain promotion... (like the blades found in the barrow downs... those were made to destroy the nazgul)... failing that, we'll give them very high points.

Great job!

Immortality may be fitting for the nazguls as well, maybe unless they are killed in a certain way they keep coming back?

Yeah, that's it! You can push them away but they come back with all promotions and xp. Did the Nazguls came back after the First Nazgul was killed? I can't remember. Maybe all 9 (or maybe less on small maps) appear after you build a certain Wonder or discover a certain tech?

All good ideas. probalby the nazgul would come around when the tech for rings of power is researched, or when the one ring is built.

I think the immortality idea is best (because they get killed in that flood in Rivendell, then come back) along with being available after the one ring is built/researched.
I don't know whether I could make one of those flying things but maybe you could place a Nazgul on a small dragon? Could work.

it's really cool
if there is going to be the hero"ine" Eowyn, i think she should be the only one who can get rid of them

NO. the only reason she can kill him is merry's stab in the back: the blade he has was made to destroythe spells holding the nazgul together. when they were gone, he could be killed like any man.

I thought the deal was they could not be killed by any MAN, Eowyn being a woman was able to. (could just be a movie plot twist though...)

The prophecy says someting along the lines of "he will not be killed by a man," which everyone took to mean that a man could not kill him. those are two entirely different things. Can and will.

If Merry had not had that sword, and stabbed the witchking, eowyn could have hacked at him all she wanted, he would not have died.

If that "no man will kill him" was to mean that anything but a man could kill him, he would have died when the river in rivendale swamped he and his comrades. the spells keeping him alive were destroyed when Merry stabbed him in the back of the knee. so eowyn got the easy job... though she was in the house of healing for months after, healing from the nazgul's black sickness (or whatever it's called, i forget)

yes but who killed him? eowyn or merry? last time i checked, it was eowyn who dealt the crushing blow, even though merry helped

By their logic of existence - being bound to the ring- probably even after the witchking was killed by Eowyn he should have probably retaken shape after some centuries if the ring hadn't been destroyed by then.
I think immortality is quite fitting but maybe they should need a couple of turns to respawn or even require more and more turns the more often they die but only until the rings get's destroyed.

They will raise again at the dark tower of mordor. If the front is far away from mordor they will need more time to get back to action.

Wasn't there an upgrade? At the beginning the Nazgul came with horses. After they were destroyed in the river, they were riding these flying beasts.

Speaking of Imladris where Elronds spell has washed them away? In this case they were not killed but just their mounts and armour/clothes we're severed from them. As far as read(if we can trust roleplaying material that is) they need physical objects to maintain shape in the real world and mounts(this is from Tolkien himself) to provide them with eyes to see. After Imladris they stumbled blindly and shapeless(but not dead at all) back to where their master is.:D
Another thing is if they get mortally wounded by supernatural means(old elven weapons i.e.). In this case they loose shape far longer than what it takes them to crawl back to Sauron. He sort of needs to ressurrect them probably.
