This is a dwarf model mainly based on Gimli from The Lord of the Rings. It was difficult to make, but worth it..

[Edit] The bug has sort of been fixed. If you follow the installation instructions in the zip file it should work ok.

Anyway enjoy :)
 
hi Chuggi, do you wanna share your 3dsmax files with me, so i can directly use the animations if i come to create some dwarves? instead of fiddling around with the nif?

I adjusted all the bones except for the head and chest, and also where he is connected to the ground, then made the animations by importing the warriors animations and then exporting them with the new skeleton I made. I also made his arms shorter in the Nif Viewer afterwards and added the beard and the new axe.

I did all of the animations separately because I couldn't work out how to do it the other way (so if I saved all of them it would be like 20 max files). They're all the same as the warrior animations except for the dwarven proportions, and I used the idle animation to replace the fidget ones.

This is probably the cause for the bug and why it took so long to animate.

Anyway, here's the max file with the different bones..

I'm not going to make any more dwarves till I figure out how to animate better and get the units to show in the civlopedia :(
 
Normal words such as “excellent” and “good job” cannot express my gratitude and happiness seeing this unit. :goodjob:
I hope you can get to all of my dwarven unit requests soon….

Just kidding of course. If the dwarf units are going to look this good, it’s best not to rush.
I eagerly await the arda mod.

Though Chuggi has expressed doubts on the Completion of the Arda mod, It Will Get Done (eventually)

Maybe.

I've uploaded an alternative dwarf unit that doesn't have any bugs (civlopedia works and everything). Read the Installation.txt file in the zip file.
 
Great job on this! Im adding it to FfH2 if thats okay with you. :D
 
You do an amazing job Chugg. Im really excited to see the LotR mod as a showcase for your work.
 
I'm taking a break from the LotR units atm and have been creating flavour units for standard civ.

But it will be great one day when there is a LotR mod with loads of custom art...
 
i've put off working on the arda mod until i get BTS, at which point we'll start over, hopefully circumnavigating the bugs we have in the current version :mischief:
