Welcome New Members

Hello all. I recently acquired CivIII. I enjoy the game although I don't know all the nuances yet. I look forward to reading your experiences and tips and will post any I come up with.

In reference to my earlier post, I achieved a Domination Victory while going for a Conquest Victory.

Commitment not contribution is the key to victory!

I also was nearly ill with civilomania. Two years of my life are stolen by Civ-TPW. I used to sit down to PTW at 19:00 and played it till 2:00. How then i was healled? Civfanatics.ru helped me. When I learned how to conqer on Demigod, it became so tedious to play civ with micromanagement. But all other games seemes to me even more boring.
I expected Civ-IV to breathe new life in my civilomania. But notorious game balance of Civ-IV (when you cannot found many cities) always irritates my nerves. When I achieved a cople of domination victories on monarch-level on big map, I stopped playing it.
Sometimes I feel nostalgia for the times when the whole world was at the screen of my computer and I was the dictator of the nation which destiny sometimes was indefinite till the end. I really did used to beleve in this virtual worlds history!

Hi guys!

I just bought civ 4 after not playing civ since civ 2 which was the best game ever. I never did pick up civ 3 mainly because I had no time due to school but now I have plenty of time to lose sleep playing civ 4.

Aside from civilization running my life (I know I am pathetic) I also enjoy baseball and am a diehard d-backs fan :)

mike the man is referring to rushing a unit. That can still be done, either by population or with money, but you need to be running slavery or universal suffrage, respectively.

Welcome to the forum, all!

Oh, I see. I was thinking of the way one could bribe a unit (which had to be alone on its tile) to defect to you in Civ II.

Hello everyone.

I'm an old fan of Civ3, but I haven't had the opportunity to buy Civ4 yet (my comp is a four year old laptop). However, I will be buying a new computer for gaming when I go to college, and my first purchase will probably be Civ4, Warlords, BtS when it comes out. My primary purpose for being on here is to see what people think of the game and its expansions.

Hello All

Great to be here. I am not a hardcore gamer but I go back a ways. I was a big fan of Ultima 2 through 8. I just recently (while cleaning my desk) dusted off my Ultima 8 and started a new game (still enjoy it after all these years).

Anyway onto Civ related data. - A buddy of mine RAVES about this game and I was looking for something more sophistacted than Ultima's RPG quests. So.....I picked up a copy of Civ 4 and am currently playing/learning in Settler level. I am learning the gui and gathering navigational tips etc.

So, I am sure I'll find LOTS of interesting stuff here!

Thanks in advance to the creators, moderators, and participants of this forum!

I used to play Civ II as a kid, but I never really understood the finer details. But playing on the lower difficulties I still found it fun enough to waste many hours on. I missed Civ III, and went straight to number four. Played a bit last summer, forgot about it, and know I'm back, and hooked. It's seems like I'm about to win my first game on Noble, and reading these forums has really been a great way to improve my games. Now actually understand what all those buildings do. Most, at least ;).

Hi.

I've been playing Civ2, Civ3 (PTW & Conquests) and now CivIV for years. For some reason, I didn't think of looking in the Internet until now for Civ websites.

Hello all,

I’ve jointed Civ Fanatics at the suggestion of a fellow Apolyton member. My interests are in Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri C4 mod. It doesn’t look like there will be a SMAC2 any time soon, so perhaps a Mod is the next best thing!

Well, I'm not really a new user. I just lost my old account's name and password. I do that alot.

I've always liked CivFanatics. It's the best fansite I've ever seen, and has the best community, too.

I started with Civ III and am addicted to Civ IV. Thanks to everyone who has spent time providing all the great resources on this site!

Hello, I'm e350tb. I play Civ3 and am an avid train fan.

Hi all.

37 yo aussie here, married (reckon I'll be divorced if I keep playing Civ) with 3 children.

Have been playing Civ since around 1993'ish when I discovered this funny game on my Dad's computer (my oldest brother installed it on there) and was soon spending a whole weekend playing 2 games. I soon found myself spending countless late nights playing Civ until I moved out of home, found Civ II and spent countless mornings as well playing it!

My dream is to find a job where I can just sit there and play Civ IV all day and get paid for it - any ideas would be most welcome.

My laptop goes with me everywhere just for the soul purpose to play Civ and I am hoping to revisit the Civ II modified games when I get my new computer.

I look forward to having a look through this site and getting heaps of information, updates and learning how to install your exciting mods. I'll be on the lookout for an Australian civilisation (sic) if anyone has done one?

Cheers big ears! :)
