Award time!
Winner and Best Player: Symphony D. of course, can't dispute the software. And luck aside, he was the best player throughout the game.
Most Persistant: TheBladeRoden, who even after the death of his own faction picked up the mantle of another dying side.
Least Persistant: Foozicaba, who left his people in their darkest hour.
Best Unsung Leader: North King, whose orders were really quite good, and who gave Symphony D. a good run for the money early on.
Most Agressive Player: Symphony D., again of course. His armies attacked more than the rest of you together, and this is probably a large reason for his success. Though j_eps gets an honorary mention for his quick, brutal jump-in.
Best Novice: LightFang, who almost survived until the very end, and who got better and better the longer the game lasted. Too bad he was already on the decline then.
Least Agressive Player: human-slaughter, believe it or not. Well over half the turns has he had at least one larger (relatively at the time) force holding back from an attack. Notice how the most successful turn for the Narwhals was the one j_eps played? No place holding back in this game.
Best Propaganda: Symphony D. again. Even though there were no real stories per se, his propaganda served much the same niche, to add flavor to the game.
Luckiest Player: A tough call, but the award goes to Grombar who managed to defeat some pretty large attackers with single-army defenders several times. human-slaughter and LightFang get honorary mentions though.
Unluckiest Player: Believe it or not, Symphony D. His troops consistently underperformed, and it is to me quite amazing that he managed to get here.
Biggest Rise: Symphony D. again. His win was not an inevitable grinding from the very beginning. Looking at his state around turn 5, it is again a wonder (or sign of eptitude I suppose).
Biggest Fall: A tie between human-slaughter, who was very close to winning when he got the game back from j_eps, and LightFang who actually had a decent shot at all of Asia at one point, but lost it all in a single turn after Symphony D. no longer needed to bother with North King.
Most Freaked-out: TerrisH and his wild exodus from the game. Too bad we never got that story from it.
Best Laugh: The award you've all been waiting for. And the award goes to human-slaughter, who actually made me laugh out loud and wake up the dog, when his orders for the second-last turn said:
Yeah, that was probably the best thing at that point in time. Though LightFang gets an honorary mention for his Comrades songs, they at least made me chuckle a little.
