RiskNES IV: Hidden Agenda

Symph, just make it quick. It's more an agony for us who wait.

The national anthem of the Comrades could be heard blaring throughout Eastern Australia...

Here is stanza one of the forty-two stanza long song "Live Free, All Ye Comrades"

Live on, Comrades!
For our song has neither rhyme nor reason.
No meter, nor poetry.
For like this song
We defy all attempts to classify us within convenient words or patterns because our philosophy is more complicated than can be easily summed up.

[french accent] Horriblé. Simply horriblé. [/french accent] :p

I am going to be leaving tomorrow for a week. I have already sent orders and if the Comrades get wiped out this turn I think we can agree that the game can be ended with a Photon Rain victory. If you want to take it out to the end I think someone or maybe the mod can place my 6 or less units for the last turns if they happen. Good Game and good job Symph.

Game ended - Victory for Photon Rain

And so the game comes to a close. I wish to thank everyone, players and lurkers alike, for their participation and interest. I will post a few awards later on. I will also start a new game within the next few days, hope to see you all back.

:woohoo:!!

I would like in on the next game, and congrats Symph.

Very nice! My mission was to capture Irkutsk and kill the color of the last occupying player. So while I was alive that was red who was quite strong till the end. Eagerly awaiting the next game and hopefully ill have a chance to start it and maybe do a bit better!

The leader of the Comrades, known only as The Comrade, was about to be executed.

He sang a song before he died, like that guy from Pirates 3, because he thought it would make him look cool and stuff.

Thus, the main verse of "Live Free, All Ye Comrades"

For we are the Comrades
Mighty, mighty Comrades
We are all friends and we frolic in the meadows
Because comrades means friends, you know?
For we are the comrades
And we eat ice cream together
And overall we're trying to paint a rosy picture of ourselves because we don't live in a perfect world where we don't need to use warfare and commit atrocities in order to stay aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiive!

Good game Symph. I knew you could stand against us plebians.

Here was my mission: Conquer and hold one of the following continents: Asia, North America or Europe. Also connect together a group of eight other independent territories.

Yeah, that was kind of hard. ;D

Yeah, that was kind of hard. ;D

Funnily enough, that was extremely similar to my mission, except I had one of those continents plus ten connected territories.

No, it was eight for you as well. The two of you had the exact same mission.

When is the next one starting? Will you announce it here in this thread?

Award time!

Winner and Best Player: Symphony D. of course, can't dispute the software. And luck aside, he was the best player throughout the game.
Most Persistant: TheBladeRoden, who even after the death of his own faction picked up the mantle of another dying side.
Least Persistant: Foozicaba, who left his people in their darkest hour.
Best Unsung Leader: North King, whose orders were really quite good, and who gave Symphony D. a good run for the money early on.
Most Agressive Player: Symphony D., again of course. His armies attacked more than the rest of you together, and this is probably a large reason for his success. Though j_eps gets an honorary mention for his quick, brutal jump-in.
Best Novice: LightFang, who almost survived until the very end, and who got better and better the longer the game lasted. Too bad he was already on the decline then.
Least Agressive Player: human-slaughter, believe it or not. Well over half the turns has he had at least one larger (relatively at the time) force holding back from an attack. Notice how the most successful turn for the Narwhals was the one j_eps played? No place holding back in this game. ;)
Best Propaganda: Symphony D. again. Even though there were no real stories per se, his propaganda served much the same niche, to add flavor to the game.
Luckiest Player: A tough call, but the award goes to Grombar who managed to defeat some pretty large attackers with single-army defenders several times. human-slaughter and LightFang get honorary mentions though.
Unluckiest Player: Believe it or not, Symphony D. His troops consistently underperformed, and it is to me quite amazing that he managed to get here.
Biggest Rise: Symphony D. again. His win was not an inevitable grinding from the very beginning. Looking at his state around turn 5, it is again a wonder (or sign of eptitude I suppose).
Biggest Fall: A tie between human-slaughter, who was very close to winning when he got the game back from j_eps, and LightFang who actually had a decent shot at all of Asia at one point, but lost it all in a single turn after Symphony D. no longer needed to bother with North King.
Most Freaked-out: TerrisH and his wild exodus from the game. Too bad we never got that story from it.
Best Laugh: The award you've all been waiting for. And the award goes to human-slaughter, who actually made me laugh out loud and wake up the dog, when his orders for the second-last turn said:
Tactical move: Pray
Yeah, that was probably the best thing at that point in time. Though LightFang gets an honorary mention for his Comrades songs, they at least made me chuckle a little. ;)

Complaints can be sent to /dev/null.

2 awards and 2 honorary mentions! I kick ass! ;D

That was fun, Nicky!

Dammit NK, you should have held out more and let me take all of Asia. >:|

3 mentions in one turn played!

This is just as a warning that you won't get it any easier in the future either.

Though, what with not only achieving my mission (one of the hardest ones at that), but also getting 80% Domination and killing 2/3 of all other players, and doing so against really awful rolls, it would be rather hard to top this game. :p You'll all learn to play eventually even if I have to beat it into you.

I vote for Capital mode for next game. Shake things up a little. If it's Mission, then I am ready to perform an arcane ritual to receive the "Kill X Army" mission. ;)

Well, you could top it off by not spending a full 18 turns to win next time then. ;)

Next game won't be Mission. That's all I say for now.
