Its time to take Trash to a new level!:D

I've been playing civ a bit and I'm fairly comfortable on Monarch but regard moving up to Emperor with a degree of trepidation. Does this sound familiar? This could be the game for you! :goodjob:

Ok. So I'm an imperial trash player! Looking for like-minded emperor noobs to embarass ourselves and provide amusement () to the Immortal Emperors on the forum.
This quote is from the game that can be found here.

The idea is that we start from a common save, spend a few days playing a reasonable length turn set. We post our saves, admire each other games and vote for the best game. Along with the votes an analysis of all games is really helpful. In the next round you can then play HOME (continue your own save) or play AWAY (play highest voted game)

The game plays much like a GOTM with two key differences: Firstly, we all play at fixed timings and can learn as we go. It's really interesting to see other players playing the same game at fixed intervals! :) And Secondly, the purpose here is not to be the best, but to see and question choices other people make.:crazyeye: Offer advice and discuss strategies along the way.

It'd be a shame to say no to the repeat of this game. Feel free to remove that (tbc) from my name! :)

Leader - happy with pretty much anybody. If we're voting I'll stick in a vote for Mehmet - I like his Ottoman styleee!

Map type - either Pangea/One Landmass or any other type with Vassal States Off.

I want to give this one a try. I'm confident at Monarch, much less so at Emperor. Any leader/map is fine with me, but I prefer to leave random events on.

Welcome back Trivial and Giaur!

Welcome Yena! We had events on in the first iteration and that did influence matters, somewhat. Overall the influence was limited, and it is great fun. What do others think?

I would prefer to have random events too. There's really one one event (barb archer event) that's completely broken. The others are all manageable and add flavor to the game.

Edit: my preference for map type is continents. For leader, I'd prefer somebody with spiritual. It gets no love around here. Either that or one of the new leaders (excluding Darius of course).

I'd like to join.

As for leader, I'd vote for no financial and no romans.

Welcome back r_rolo1, shyuhe, 50$ bag!

And welcome to the game ungy and ngraner42!

Ok, so I guess we will have random events and no vassal states.

What about tribal villages?

Re: No Vassal States.

Given the conquest/domination goal...

I find the new colony costs make Domination on any kind of spread landmass like pulling teeth. IME, either economy gets really crippled or you have to pretty much conquer the whole world while your colonies trade any tech edge to the opposition. Or you tech up to the modern age and keep things fast. Any which way, I think it limits the game a lot?

It's a shame. Wish there was a way to turn off/down colony costs without taking away vassals?

I'd vote 'yes' for Vassals if we're going for a one landmass map though?

On events and villages - happy either way - no strong preferance!

I'm in, so I can wrap up Imp. trash A+ and start this one this weekend. (Halleluja, no more exams!)

I will try to get this game going today, as I will be on a short holiday (Friday till Monday)

Let's see from the limited input on leaders selection (assuming others are flexible :p ) I got the following:
-not financial
-not roman
-what about ottoman stylee (Mehmet)?
-what about suleiman?
-Spiritual preference?
-New leader?

Suleiman is ottoman, not roman and not financial, he seems like a good choice.
Alternatively a non financial, non roman, spiritual, new leader leaves only Justinian I of Byzantine.

Thus these will be the two choices:

Suleiman (Ottoman)
Imperialistic/Philosophical
Agriculture/The Wheel
Janissary (9/1/80) replaces musketmen (25% vs archers, melee, and mounted)
Hammam (aquaduct with +2 happiness)

OR

Justinian I (Byzantine)
Imperialistic/Spiritual
Mysticism/The Wheel
Cataphract (12/2/90) (Knight with 12 instead of 10 without 1st strike immunity)
Hippodrome (Theatre +1 happy, +1 happy from horses, +1 happy per 5% culture)

Settings:
Standard options. So Vassal states, tribal villages, random events all ON.
Standard map size, normal speed.
People want continents or panagea. I would like to try the Big and Small map type which is closely related.
Not sure which options exactly within Big and Small.

Let me know which leader and map options you prefer. :goodjob:

I'll try to roll a start tonight so everyone can play before Tuesday. If time allows I'll play the first 65 turns as well before my holiday :) .
