DMI VII - Celebrity Deathmatch

Why ? The peaceful approach should get a fair chance too...

^^just for coherence: you get bonuses for killing AI units and not for killing AI civs? And IMHO peaceful aproaches already have High enogh points in your system ;)

So here is the scoring system we'll use to determine our winner:
You're scoring system is just a tad unbalanced, don't you think? ;) The 500 points for the Pyramids is a gimme for the BTS team, considering how late it usually goes in that version. And we have an uber-Cossack designed for speed and mobility ... yet if we use an optimal strategy, we end up getting penalized. :dubious: In fact, considering you need the AI at friendly to get a UN vote, the only real way to win this game is diplomatic.

  • every killed AI unit (excluding barbs) --- 15 points
You might want to consider including barbs. The stats screen includes them in the counts. If you exclude them, you are going to have to go through the log line-by-line to add up the number of kills.

are the points for the wonders for owning or building

I don't get the critics ;) . Okay, the one with barb units is a fair point - I'm going to include them. We'll just use the kills section in the replay. As for the other points I really don't get those. I'm just thinking the opposite way. As things are a warfare approach is much more likely of winning. See, you get 15 points for each killed unit. 200 kills is not a highjly unusual number in a Conquest or Domination win. 200 kills score 3000 points alone ! The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to up the peaceful points ;) .

Sure, the Pyramids go late usually on BtS. That's unfair. But so is life. On the other hand we Warlords and BtS players sure won't elaborate on strength 18 Cossacks as being unfair... ;)

Points on wonders only if built by the team of course !

Well, wait a minute, I might've been a bit hasty. I was multiplying 200 kills by 15 points and getting 300, not 3000.

Edit: crossposted with Imotep. You might be right about the diplo points being too low ...

Regarding bindamel's kill list, the warmongering points should probably come from
destroyed or vassalised civs. (More for utter destruction, less for capitulation.)

How about if we make it 10pts/kill (barbs included for ease of tallying) and have a gentleman's agreement not to spectacularly milk for score by farming AI units to slay?

But seriously, why are the Vanilla and BtS teams even worried about score? They're just fighting over second place.

Now I'm sure I had two gauntlets with me before I posted here. What did I do with the other one...?

Just teasing the other teams since this is the only place I can talk smack to our friendly competitors.

(Though I do think that lowering the units-killed points a bit might disfavor the military approach a little.)

Okay, I updated the scoring table. :)

My only quibble with the scoring is that it doesn't reward earliest finishes for domination and conquest. If everyone goes for a domination win, I'm pretty sure the latest finishing team would win. Probably doesn't affect diplomatic or space victories (except the later you finish the more wonders you get a chance to build).

Of course the earlier finisher will be the winner if it is a major difference, say 50 or hundred years...but I guess we all can make an agreement on not milking the score. We're here to have fun !

We could have second- and third-fastest finishing teams use the "units killed" count from their last uploaded save before the fastest team wins. So, if Vanilla finishes first in 600AD, they use their final units killed count but the Warlords and BtS teams use the totals from the last game they upload whose game date is before 600AD (e.g., 500AD or 550AD). I think this would reward the fastest finisher, prevent milking, and still credit teams who are exercising the military option.

...As for rallying points I think that is a very good idea. We will compare the games at 500 BC, 1 AD, 800 AD, 1500 AD and 1800 AD (should the games last so long, which I doubt). I beg the SG Captains to write a short summary once they hit the time marks with focus on overall team strategy, research paths, etc. Should be a nice thing to see those comparisons.

I thought of suggesting these since we'll all have them, but it seems to punitive if, say, someone finishes first in 1490AD.

Spoiler :

Okay, the practice save for SGOTM7 is now attached to this post. If you found this by accident, I'm shocked.
