fcNES: Gods and Despots

lol @ how confusing these rules are!

The rules are very simple. It's just hard to write down and explain.

Also, most of the things are not in the rules. Got a pilgrimage site? Mod handles whatever. Got trade routes? Mod handles whatever. The only automated thing here is the default economy rules, and sometimes even that isn't set in stone.

True true.. but why bother include these abstract calculations of half - 1 +.5 etc etc..

I don't know where you got "-1 + .5" but here goes something: The rules are like that because I had to find a way to get a negative value from robotic calculations. Economies go up and down, you know, and I decided to automate the "down" process as well.

i would still assign a generic value to gaining the next level of economy rather than a accelerating one

:p this isn't attack. How many players actually grasp this economy ruleset?

Few. :D

I just want to remind everyone, again, that spending more than half of either stat will lead to wealth going down (industry is different), sometimes very badly. But also remember that sometimes you have to spend a lot to fund big plans that are, in the long-term, good for your nation and its economy.

It's odd, but I'm grasping it. I'm sure we'll all have it figured out after a few updates of economic mishandling. :p

Edit: Wait- since I reinvested my wealth, but spent all of my industry... is my wealth going to stay where it is?

I think I get it,

- You have x amount of wealth, and y amount of industry.
- You decide to spend s industry
- So you do y-s, then you divide it in half (y-s)/2
- And get z, you add z to your wealth, so x+z,
- If z is negative your wealth goes down, if z is positive it goes up.

Is that right?

that may help me.

But more i mean.. WHY does it work that way.

I know you say the cobblers idea

But surely ordering 1000 troops boots from a cobbler gives him enough business to retire on!

Anyway.. who are we waiting on orders for? I wants an update!!!?

Kol.7, no. was gonna tenchar but had something else to say

Don't strain your brain on it. Use all that pink white and gray matter on stories and plots!

EDIT: Abaddon, did you pay the cobbler? More importantly, where do you get the money if you are going to pay him?

hehe ok.

If you PM me BACK the orders i sent seemingly weeks ago.. ill give it some thought an perhaps some bed time stories.

Abaddon, check your PM box, it should now be there.

On the economy system (again): I designed the system so that if you leave your economy alone (like a good government should), it will grow. Of course, controlling governments can still have lots of industry (and have lot of options to forcibly increase it without the help of wealth), but wealth will be low.

Well done on 1000 posts, i'll be nicer to you now ;)

TBH i just think i am whining because for once i have to consider how much i spend, rather than the usual NES style of spend every last penny trying to get bigger and better ASAP

What did I say about taking from the wealth stat? Just pretend that your nation has a set amount of production capability. By using it, you're depriving your people from using it for their own ends. The wealth stat represents how much money your nation has around: it doesn't appear out of nowhere. "Taxes" would be how much you take from here per turn.

Post count is directly proportional to "respect." Better note that down.

Of the "House of Bureaucracy"

King Alba was sick of the excuses. He simply could not accept it.
His taxes were not as big as they should be!
The summer had brought forth a bountyful harvest,
and expansion plans was driving the national economy,
yet still takings were down on last year.
He raged and raged in his room until finally grabbing one of the palace's accountancy scribes and demanding an explanation.

"You there, drop what your doing and explain this to me now!" Demanded Alba, waving his annual report.

"But,but i am just a novice sire" yelped the young scribe
"Do it now or i'll sting you up on the city gates!"
*gulp*
"Ok,ok, give me a few minutes to read through it sir and i will try my best"
"Better" The King growled

The young scribe desperately scanned through the paper work. It was quite obvious, quite simply the cost of tax collecting was becoming greater as the nation grew. The loop-holes and tax dodgers didn't help.

"I am afraid it is due to bad bureaucracy sir."
"Burwhatary?"
"All the paper work sir, ensuring things go according to plan etc, its all getting very complicated as the nation grows more complicated, its costing you money.

"Whats your name boy?" The King looked upon the shivering young scribe
"Saieed Jonja, sir"
"Jonja, you seem tohave a good head upon you. You are charged with working with my grand architects and head accountants to create a new governmental building to cut back all this paperwork. Being lower down, you still know how the sh*t sticks and whats going wrong around here. I am sick of "yes" men Saieed. Build me somewhere to keep track of it all and keep the costs down! It shall be called the "House of Bureaucracy"
