Persians in SPace: Cyrus's Completed Vision
AS Cyrus enter's his Spaceship to journey and meet his lonmg past friends he looks at the state of the world. SUch bloodshed, such evil and sores to the start in search of a better place. His valued scholar, with the Persia advanced technology studies the strange objects with alien characters left on earth some 6000 years ago, finally having the knowledge to decifer it. As Cyrus lands the ship and leaves the Spaceship, his valued scholar runs to the ships entrance, yeall at his leader to stop, "Cyrus, beware the title is 'How to Serve Man', it's a cookbook!". Cyrus looks back in shock, glances back towards earth with a sudden dread and yearning for his homeworld. "Well, this didn't turn out the way I expected."
Well, Cyrus' founded knowledge aside, we got our space victory, landed in the early 1960's. No real problems, Fred's cultural cities got to arround 100,000 culture and I would have had more of a problem if Fred hiked up the culture slider, which based on his teching I am sure he did not. We instigated several wars to get the heat off of us, although we were up to #2 in powergraph numbers so there was little danger of being hit from behind by Justinian.
A quick recap.
We popped a GE for the needed Creative Constructions
Helped a little but our resoruces limited our trade abilities.
We initiated several wars to keep everyone on their toes
Gotta say Justinian really laid it on JC, glad I didn't see any Byzantian warships this segment.
At one point the entire world was in chaos except GW, who had a very small empire
Finally the ship is finished
Victory conditions
Final powergraph numbers
Demographics were not so hot, but we used our very large tech advantage to do what we needed.
To outtech the AI by so much will a mere 8 cities is pretty darned impressive, CE has a defeinite adnavtage in this.
A final picture of our grand Persian leader, prior to landing on the alpha centuri.
RECAP on the game
1) CE: Gotta say this is a very powerful approach. Cottaged everywhere is just plain nuts and almost overpowering.
2) THe pacifist game: We launched in the 1960's. I have no doubt if I would have launched an assault on Sal soon after gunpowder I would have brought him down VERY fast. This would have doubled our CE and resulted in a faster win.
3) Diplomacy: Always helps. Befriending both Fred and JC were big pluses. Gifting those early techs payed off big dividends. Also keeping Sal happy was a big plus ealry on. Allowed us to fully control that quasi continent.
4) Semi-Isolated start; COnsidering how poorly Sal teched, I consider this as close to an isolated start as you can get (unless of course Sal was Toku). TEching the economy techs of CoL and Currency, then the optics tree helped immensely.
5) Production: A little limiting in a CE, especially early. BUt a CE on a river with leves turned the capital into a production monster, where we built most of the spaceship, and even without Bureacracy.
6) Random events are a big problem in CE games. Lost about 5 towns to plains tornados or Volcano eruptions. Annoying, and glad most occurred post-democracy.
RPC limitations
1) War; Almost shot myself in teh foot here, never considered the cultural aspect and Fred could have been alot more dangerous if he upped the slider.
2) Civics, not having slavery hurt a bit in the early CE. But then again pop growth was limited due to the number of food tiles.
3) Leader traits: Cyrus is one of the least equipped leaders to deal with a CE game like this. Imagine a financial leader, or PHil here> Wow!!!
Thanks to all who followed. I will be interested in seeing how IPEX finishes.
Now after all this peaceful cottaging and watching CY get eaten upon arrival at alpha centuri, I am looking foreward to
SHaka, a gentleman of CUlture. Pangea map where Shaka has to win culturally without building any cathedrals, and the legendary cities must be his capitla plus 2 AI capitals. He can smash and kill anyone he wants, as long as he does it with dignity and class!
