Again, thanks to Wolfie for his help in getting it right.

I actually did this ship before, a long time back, but it was a sad sight (looking back), so here is the redo.

It uses the destroyers animations.

Let's compare, shall we?

Matt's new Canopus model...

Matt's old Canopus model...

Yeah... I'd say the old one is better... more detailed... Matt forgot those little pipes sticking out of the superstructure and the thingie on the stern of the ship below the main deck... shame on you Matt... your skills regress!

Well you missed them to. :p

As I said.

Actually that back thing was not on the blueprints, I was wondering about it myself.

And the pipes, hmm, if you really need them I can add them otherwise..

Edit: Unfortunately the polygon level somehow got fairly high (I need to work on cutting them down in the future) so anything else added would just put it over the top..

Xenomorph@ I think a Japanese and American ones are in order in the near future, I never thought of Spain, Italy or China TBH. (China was a naval power? I seem to remember her ships becoming in one naval battle.)

Good job matt!
And the comparison is un necessary wolfie, it looks perfectly fine to me. :p

Sorry about requesting you render the Swedish Bikini Team in the captain's cabin of the Canopus... but I have proof they were there and thought they should be included... I guess that pushed the poly-count too high.

Hush-up or I'll post a picture of a very fat Patton before he got on slimfast! (just messin' with you DK).

Yeah, well I might not know much about that... :p Though if it was just a texture bit it would add very few polygons overall...

Thank you, I try. :p It has been an interesting experience, with lots of amazing tips from Smitty and Asio along the way..

Okay, here's a redo of a redo... Matt created the English Pre-Dreadnought Canopus, with a very English paint job (black, white and gold was very popular in the 1890s)...

Well... I have decided to reskin the Canopus, as it's a very "typical" Pre-Dreadnought (moreso then the French Charlemagne design I've been using by default), add team color to the smokestacks and use it as the new official "Default" Pre-Dreadnought for all nations that don't have a Pre-Dreadnought made for them in my own Wolfshanze Mod. Of course, with the spirit of the community, I'm releasing it here for anyone who may be interested... it does have team color on the smokestacks (thanks for the help from Xenomorph), so it makes a very good default Pre-Dreadnought for any nation that doesn't have a specific one for them (plus it now looks different then the English Canopus)...

English-designed Pre-Dreadnoughts like the Canopus kind of "set the standard" for Pre-Dreadnought design throughout the 1890s, and English firms were also contracted to make Pre-Dreadnoughts for foreign navies (like Japan and South American fleets)... so ships similar to the Canopus were very common to see in foreign navies.

In-game shot of the two Canopus-class ships side by side with different paint schemes... the Norwegian/Viking "Norge" Pre-Dreadnought, for example, was built in England to a design not dissimilar to the Canopus.

So this should work for a stand-in until we get nation-specific Pre-Dreadnoughts for every nation... or, maybe you just like the paint scheme better... Hope it's useful to somebody... the original paint job is still available at the start of this thread... here's the grey camouflage with team-color smokestack reskin...

I thought I'd never see the day: you creating a teamcolored skin? ;)

Nice job on it. :yup:

And you still won't see the day! I did the complete reskin... Xeno did the teamcolor stripes around the stacks per my request (I pre-planned where I wanted them when I was doing the reskin... I knew I was going to go for that "teamcolor" thingie).

If I had it my way, every nation would have a nation-specific pre-dreadnought so we wouldn't need any team-colored ships... but there's only so-many pre-dreadnoughts GM can do at a given time!
