I needed a break from the East Asia Mod, and since I've just been to Istanbul, it seems obvious that I should do something related to that. So I made a city set based on the stuff I saw on my trip. Since Aion made some excellent greek buildings I thought it would make sense to base it off of his work, so a lot of credit goes to him.

I realize this is against the current trend with 3d cities, but what the heck, I like them myself and that's all that matters anyway. The walled one is also missing, I'll probably add it a bit later. It should really be there, but I spend all evening on these, so I need a break.

My inspirations were: The Blue Mosque, the Süleymaniye Mosque, the Topkapi Palace, the Egyptian and Grand Bazar, the Yeni Mosque, and a few small buildings I saw there. I hope people who are familiar with Istanbul can recognize some of these buildings, cause they are all there. ;)

The buildings I used can be found here.

This set would probably work best for the 1600-1900 era scenarios/mods. I hope you enjoy it!

Wow, they look really really good!

The current trend with 3D exists only because it is so much easier to do it 3D and it seems more realistic - but when you achieve what you achieved, the way you've done it doesn't really matter any more. :)

Thanks, but I couldn't really have made them without Aions work.

I actually think there is a few things I should have done better, but I can't be bothered now.

I'll get around to it at some point. As I said, I only made these to do something else than East Asia, so they are way down on my priority list. ;)

Feel free to do it yourself!

I thought you were learning. ;)

I'm bracing myself to dive into Photoshop 7. If I can get doing the pallette correction bit down right, I plan to break open a bottle of bubbly. ;)
