The war in Europe drags on as politics shift the war and interrupt alliances.
Beginning first in Russia where Prussian troops continue to hold the line and make advances, albeit slow and under heavy pressure from Russian hordes. Attempts to get Hungary to join the war against Russia fail while Romania pledges alliance with Prussia hoping for a quick land grab war. Promised reinforcements to Romania could at the time only be transferred through Hungary. The Hungarians refused and the Prussians tried to force through the border, sparking war. The Hungarians put up a fierce fight and drove into Prussian and Romania territory. While the two allies met up in Russia and began a joint push east.
The Romanians made great early gains and even penetrated into Crimea only to be pushed back by Russian armies and brought to a stalemate. Prussia made gains back in Poland and across the border. Combat on the front is generally slow and movements constricted.
In Finland, however, things become interesting. The Swedish, breaking neutrality and their alliance with the Danes, join the Russian alliance in hopes of gaining large portions of Finland. The public is not happy about this decision, but the war continues anyway. The Finnish are caught off guard and the Swedes cross the border and deep into Finland. While the Russians continue a large push north of St. Petersburg. Over half of Finland is lost in the coming year. The offensive is only stalled by the winter and Prussian reinforcements that arrived in the fall.
On sea the Prussians gain a large advantage with the completion of the first Goliath Battleship, the Bismarck, during the summer. Immediately sent to fight in the Gulf of Finland it greatly over powers and sinks four Russian battleships. The Bismarck is retired for the winter after a well aimed shot from a Russian battleship. It is still in fighting condition but is in the dry docks until spring.
