The war in Europe drags on as politics shift the war and interrupt alliances.

Beginning first in Russia where Prussian troops continue to hold the line and make advances, albeit slow and under heavy pressure from Russian hordes. Attempts to get Hungary to join the war against Russia fail while Romania pledges alliance with Prussia hoping for a quick land grab war. Promised reinforcements to Romania could at the time only be transferred through Hungary. The Hungarians refused and the Prussians tried to force through the border, sparking war. The Hungarians put up a fierce fight and drove into Prussian and Romania territory. While the two allies met up in Russia and began a joint push east.

The Romanians made great early gains and even penetrated into Crimea only to be pushed back by Russian armies and brought to a stalemate. Prussia made gains back in Poland and across the border. Combat on the front is generally slow and movements constricted.

In Finland, however, things become interesting. The Swedish, breaking neutrality and their alliance with the Danes, join the Russian alliance in hopes of gaining large portions of Finland. The public is not happy about this decision, but the war continues anyway. The Finnish are caught off guard and the Swedes cross the border and deep into Finland. While the Russians continue a large push north of St. Petersburg. Over half of Finland is lost in the coming year. The offensive is only stalled by the winter and Prussian reinforcements that arrived in the fall.

On sea the Prussians gain a large advantage with the completion of the first Goliath Battleship, the Bismarck, during the summer. Immediately sent to fight in the Gulf of Finland it greatly over powers and sinks four Russian battleships. The Bismarck is retired for the winter after a well aimed shot from a Russian battleship. It is still in fighting condition but is in the dry docks until spring.

CASUALTY LIST:
Prussia: 19 Divisions, 5 Artillery Brigades, 1 Battleship, 5 Escort Groups
Russia: 30 Divisions, 18 Militia Divisions, 4 Battleships, 8 Escort Groups
Finland: 3 Divisions, 2 Militia Divisions, 1 Escort Groups
Sweden: 2 Divisions
Hungary: 4 Divisions
Romania: 6 Divisions

While the war progressed and Prussian concern over French attack grew. It was a shock to see the French, now in a free reign to carry out operations in Iberia without Prussia looking down over its shoulder, decided to invade Madrid Consejo to rid Europe of the communists. The initial invasion took great bounds of land, a landing at Lisbon pushed up river to Madrid and captured the capital while a more straightforward land invasion took lesser amounts. The country is beginning the break a part again as those groups formerly oppressed at the end of the Civil War.

CASUALTY LIST:
France: 8 Division, 2 Artillery Brigades
Madrid Consejo: 14 Divisions, 6 Militia Divisions

Denmark, appalled by the traitorous actions of Sweden, goes into defensive mode and prepares its military for any sort of invasion. While Icelandic peaceful protests continue for the unity with Denmark. While Denmark companies in the Congo help to build factories for the locals to work in. Showing promise of profit in the next couple years.

The Swiss gain a boost in military spending. (+1 Military Spending)

Italy finished Air Ship research, following closely behind the US.

The Muslim Brotherhood continues to fight the French Empire and spread across the empire with vigor.

South Africa expands its military.

Wow! I have never seen an update of this magnitude before. Very nice, Lucky.
What about the Hellenic Republic? No news?

Nice update.

IC: Denmark condemns Europe's continuing dissent into war.

From: Denmark
To: Switzerland

We are interested in creating/joining a research fund with you. Are you interested?

OOC: @Sweden--you're fighting against Prussia? Are you insane? Your economy is basically entirely dependent on Prussian goods...

What good moderate-sized nations are open right now?

To: Denmark
From: The Prussian Union

We hope that Denmark has begun the proper severing of ties with Sweden, as it is no longer neutral. To do otherwise is to threaten your neutrality and tempt invasion by the Prussian Union.

To: The Kingdom of Hungary
From: The Prussian Union

You have little to no hope of coming out ahead in this war. Your only possible allies are behind Prussian and Bulgarian lines through which they may not pass. Surrender now and we will be willing to allow Hungary to keep its government and borders before its rash decision.

To: The Hellenic Republic
From: The Prussian Union

According to the agreements of the EEPP, the Hellenic Republic is now obligated to offer assistance in our wars with both Hungary and Sweden. As such, we will offer counsel on private fronts as to what your actions should be.

To: The Empire of Japan
From: The Prussian Union

The Prussian Union realizes that the recent wars in Europe have obligated it to declare war on Hungary. We remove your obligation to do so. Focus on your own problems, it is of little importance to us if you do not assist us against Hungary.

That being said, any help you would be capable of providing would be much appreciated, although we are more than aware of Japan's problems and the impracticality of moving troops from Japan to Europe.

Treacherous Sweden has removed any respect it may have merited from its "devotion" to neutrality by invading the Kingdom of Finland, with which it had no conflict with. We suggest economic sanctions of the strictest sort against the Kingdom of Sweden to show unilateral opposition to such pointless aggression.

Your attempts at domination of the Balkans through diplomacy and now war will be your undoing. Our victories will not cease, your defeat will come.

OOC: Bulgaria is green and not allied with you.

@ Luckymoose: I know, for whatever reason I got Bulgaria and Romania mixed up. I assumed you had figured it out, since you hadn't asked any questions. ;)

To: The Kingdom of Hungary
From: The Prussian Union

This is not a problem for us. Your tiny nation is little more than a pin-prick in the side of the great Prussian Union, and this will be the ending of you!

To: The World
From: The Prussian Union

Let it be known by all that we have done everything within our power to end our conflict with the Kingdom of Hungary peacefully. All that is done now is done because of their ignorance of Prussia's military superiority and inability to partake in rational diplomacy.

Mexico might have seen merit in this option, if Prussia could somehow prove how its own invasion of Russia is nobler than Sweden's of Finland.

Mexico declares that it is ending the trade of all war-materiel, oil, and iron, to belligerent nations involved in the Great Eastern War. It calls on neutral nations to join it.

From: Denmark
To: Prussian Union

As we have reiterated, Denmark is neutral. As of Sweden's entry into the war, the joint research fund was dissolved, and Sweden's preferential trade status was revoked (as would Prussia's, had it had one--all warring combatants receive equal treatment form us).

To: Denmark
From: The Prussian Union

We find this acceptable.

To: Sweden
From: The Prussian Union

We will give peace a chance, and ask for the complete and unconditional surrender of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Prussian Union. This way you people will not suffer because of your mistake. Please consider them in weighing your actions, as you obviously have not in the past.

OOC: Great update. Didn't my pilots want to kamakazi into Prussian ships? :(

To: The Prussian Union, Finland
From: Sweden

We are going to liberate the oppressed people of Finland much like how you are trying to liberate the so called oppressed people of Russia. We will not stop until the people of Finland have been liberated and The Prussian Union no longer threatens Russia and Hungary.

As such we turn to you with this offer. The Prussian Union, Finland and Romania surrender unconditionally to Russia, Sweden and Hungry and we may allow your countries to continue to exist.

To: The World
From: Sweden

Our reasons for war are no different then Prussia's as such if economic sanctions are made against Sweden they should also be made against The Prussian Union.

To: Sweden
From: The Prussian Union

Peace talks are moving along between the Empire of Russia and the Prussian Union. There will be no alliance between Sweden, Hungary, and Russia. You will stand on your own, and you will fall and be annexed by the military might of Prussia.

To: The World
From: The Prussian Union

Sweden has refused our very generous peace terms. As such, all that is brought against them now is a result of their poor foresight and unacceptable attack of Finland while supposedly remaining "neutral."

OOC: Great update. Didn't my pilots want to kamakazi into Prussian ships? :(

Why? You planes have no weapons on board and it would be like throwing a wooden model at a giant steel plate. If they could even fly that far out to sea.

*slow clap* You know, no one is going to let you take over Swedens Iron reserves, and all you're doing is making them vassals of Russia or Britain ;).
