City bombardment dmg less than expected

I think it is fairly obvious that the city you are attacking does have walls and castle (or at least the game thnks it does). Your siege weapons can reduce defences by a total 104% and they actually achieve 26% (100% - 74%) which is a quarter of the basic amount. That is exactly what walls and a castle would do.

The the initial cultural defence of that city is 80%. The bombardment then reduces that cultral defence in proportion (74%) and lo and behold, 80%*74%= 59% exactly what the greanadiers have (since they ignore the walls and castle and use the cultural defence).

So despite what you think I am almost sure that there are walls and castle in that city. Graphics don't always show all buildings. Why not use the world builder to check in this case?

If you go back and reload before the bombardment and select the grenadiers is the intial cultural defence 80% as UncleJJ stated?

Thanks a lot UncleJJ! Unfortunately I no longer have the save, my hard drive had to be reformatted, thus I lost all of my files.

I was under the assumption that at least walls were always visible. I guess I've always relied on the visual to obtain information. Is it normal for the walls/castles to be hidden from view like this, or is it some kind of bug?

I am not really sure, I don't think it is bug as such, it seems to be a problem when the city has too many buildings and wonders to display in the space available. I usually assume that the AI will build walls and castles at some stage in its large cities, once it gets the technology, and so I take enough seige equipment to deal with that.
