Turn 0/750 (4000 BC)
I moved my Scout 1 NW onto the hill, and when it switched to my settler, I noticed a blue-circle 1 NW of him. I also spied some coast to the west of the fog, so I felt there was a good chance for seafood. I took the chance and moved my settler 1 NW.
Turn 1/750 (3975 BC)
Athens founded
Athens begins: Worker (23 turns)
Research begun: Animal Husbandry (19 Turns)
Athens founded. Bummer, no seafood. I hate those blue-circles, heh. Oh well, I am on the coast, with 2 solid tiles (3F3H, and 3F2H1C). No fast growth food tile though, so whipping will be slow. If I had moved my settler 1E instead, to keep the pigs and cows, and add the corn, it would have been killer good. This spot allows a possible GLH run again, but growth will be slow, which sucks early game. I start a worker, annoyed that I cant start right out with a Work Boat, since we have Fishing.
I also started AH, since that was our food, and I will admit to something if you all promise not to laugh. I get Pericles and Darius mixed up, LOL, so I was also thinking "and we need AH for Horses so we can Immortal-Rush someone!". Heh, I never played Pericles before, and havent played Darius in a LONG time, other than as an Unrestricted Combo once. Heh, its not too bad, but I was thinking about Immortals for a long time.
Turn 2/750 (3950 BC)

Turn 120/750 (1000 BC)
OK I have a few Lanx's out, headed for the Barb city. I need another settler ASSAP as well, for the NE, to try and cut Peter off a bit more. The GLH is nearly done, and I still have plenty of forests near all cities. I need IW soonish, too, so I can get those gems online. Heres some overall screenies:
Heres the Barb city, all my Phalanx's are CRI:
Pros - 2 Barracks and a good start on some units to rush. GLH near complete and I dont see how I could not get it. Enough coast on this continent to make a lot of cities, but may be a bad move.
Cons - slow. My whole turn felt slow. I dont see any metals in Peters land, and we have both Horses and Copper, so rushing him is still an option. He has Stone too, maybe just taking his perimeter cities, and pillaging him back to nothing in his cap will be enough.
Sailing and the GLH may have been a poor choice, but once I moved to the coast, I was kind of committed. I should have gotten more settlers out instead, perhaps. I might be too late to rush without Catapults.
