My first new unit for almost 2 years! (Just a little vacation) :D

This is my take on one of the enemies from the RPG Final Fantasy 6. I took some artistic license with it since the origional was a small 2D game sprite. ;)

Air Armor were part of the Empire's air force in that game, and they were powered by a combination of steam technology and magic power.

Final Fantasy 6

The model has 1330 triangles, and I have included 2 different skins. The unit has some basic animations and has a steam effect around the smoke stacks. It also uses Alazkan Assassin's flamethrower effect as one of the attacks.

Since it uses a couple of custom effects, and a custom sound, I also included an example mod to show how to set up the XML files to use those effects.

Here's the download: Air Armor

well i was a big fan of your artwork back in the day, and then you disappeared for like 8 years
Well, I like made some mods for Civ2, got mentioned in Computer Gaming World, then disappeared for like 10 years, then started making more stuff, and Garret never talks about me! (unless it's about how the fascists are taking over the world).

Yeah, I just got burned out on civ back then. :mischief: But now, coming back, I'm excited about modding the game again. I think civ is one of those great games I just can't stay away from very long.

I was cruising by the main page and happened to see this.... Some of you may know that I made a version of this unit for Civ III, and you did a pretty darn good job with the Civ IV version.

Thanks Hikaro. I remember downloading a couple of your FF units back when I played Civ 3. :) Are you still working on that FF mod of yours?

I'm going to be making a few more FF models for use in my games, starting with a totally redone version of the Magitek Armor I released a couple years ago. I wasn't happy with it and decided to start over from scratch. It still has a ways to go.

Yeah, still working on it.... As a matter of fact, I'm only a few wonder/misc graphics short of a beta release, which should happen sometime in July... I'd be willing to share my models, but for some reason, Bryce 6 is being stupid and won't let me export anything

Cool, I'll re-install Civ 3 and check it out when you release the beta mod.

No worries on the models. I actually prefer to do my own from the ground up, as that is the fun part. :) The texturing and animation is the part that feels like a chore. :hammer2: Thanks for the offer though.
